Abstract

This study investigated the success of a solid model teaching medium with the theme “My Farm” to enhance the English learning experience among second grade students at MIS Fathul Jannah. This medium addresses the challenge of unevenly distributed educational resources. Thirteen grade 2 students participated in this community service activity. The implementation of the activity involved three stages: preparation (survey, observation, media and material adjustment), implementation (introduction, core activities, ice breaking, and reflection), and evaluation. The results showed that the solid model media fostered active participation, created a fun learning environment, and had a positive impact on the classroom atmosphere. Future research should consider expanding the content coverage and deepening the analysis to obtain more robust data as well as innovative findings.

Abstract

The development of the times requires every country to have rapid progress. Good education produces quality human resources. The influence of education plays a very important role in the human resources produced. Education continues to change according to the times. Innovation continues to be carried out in order to provide better quality education, both in learning models and learning strategies. Learning carried out by schools does not only focus on models but must choose the right strategy where students are trained to independently seek and find solutions to each problem found in learning. One strategy that can be applied in learning is problem solving learning strategies. Type of Quasi-Experimental research or quasi-experimental research. This Quasi Experimental Research aims to see whether or not there is an effect of giving certain treatments to the study group. The research design that will be used is a Pretest-Posttest control group design. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The sample consisted of an experimental class applying problem solving learning strategies and a control class applying conventional learning models. Based on hypothesis testing which has been carried out with the help of Microsoft Excel using the U test technique with a significance level of 5%. The obtained values ​​for are -4.67 and -1.96. Then H₁ is accepted and H₀ is rejected. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the use of problem solving learning strategies influences the learning outcomes of students at SMP Negeri 15 Padang City.

Abstract

Kurikulum merdeka was implemented in 2022. The characteristics of the kurikulum merdeka were the development of soft skills and character, focus on essential materials, and flexible learning. The low learning outcomes of students were still a problem. One of the efforts that can be done was to apply the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment on the learning outcomes of grade VIII students on organ system material. This type of research was Quasi Experiment, with a Non Equivalent Control Group Design research design. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The experimental class used the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment while the control class used conventional methods. Based on the hypothesis test with the t test, the calculated value = 2.654 and ttable = 2.006. From the data shows that if tcalculate > ttable, h1 was accepted, it was concluded that there was an influence of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment on the cognitive learning outcomes of grade VIII students on organ system material.

Abstract

This study analyzes the textbook "Basic English for Tourism" based on Tomlinson's criteria and Littlejohn's Three Levels of Analysis. The findings show that the textbook fulfills several important criteria for effective language learning, such as providing relevant and practical materials, improving language confidence and fluency, and incorporating various learning methods. The book offers a variety of activities, including dialogs, text analysis, writing tasks and grammar lessons, which suit different learning styles and encourage interactive and communicative language use. Although the absence of pictures may be considered a limitation, the content and overall approach of this textbook make a significant contribution in improving English language skills for students in the tourism industry. Therefore, this study provides valuable insights for practitioners and policy makers in the field of English language education, emphasizing the importance of selecting textbooks that match the practical needs and learning objectives of the students.

Abstract

One of the key indicators of students’ scientific understanding and skills is their learning outcomes. Based on interviews with science teachers at SMPN 7 Padang, it was found that students’ learning outcomes remain low due to limited motivation, low interest in learning science, and suboptimal learning readiness. To address this issue, the Reading to Learn (R2L) model was applied as an alternative learning strategy to improve student achievement. This study aimed to examine the effect of implementing the Reading to Learn model on students’ learning outcomes. The research sample consisted of class VII.5 as the experimental group and class VII.6 as the control group, each comprising 33 students. The results revealed a significant difference between the two groups: the experimental group achieved an average score of 81, while the control group scored an average of 56. The t-test analysis yielded a t-value of 5.948, exceeding the t-table value of 1.997 (tcount > ttable = 5.948 > 1.997). Therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted, indicating that the implementation of the Reading to Learn model had a significant positive effect on students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Regional languages ​​reflect the cultural values ​​and identity of a society, and also shape the character of the nation. Due to globalization, urbanization, and socio-cultural changes, Lampung, one of the regional languages ​​in Indonesia, is now facing many challenges. The purpose of this study is to explain the use of Lampung in secondary schools and to identify factors influencing its decline, as well as efforts to preserve it through formal education. This study used a qualitative approach and library research methods. Data were collected from various written sources, including books, scientific journals, and official documents related to the topic of regional language preservation. As this study demonstrates, preserving Lampung through formal education is a strategic step to strengthen regional cultural identity and shape the character of the younger generation, whose local values ​​are being eroded by the influence of globalization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh model pembelajaran Reciprocal Teaching terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas 5 SD, khususnya pada materi pecahan. Reciprocal Teaching merupakan strategi pembelajaran kooperatif yang menekankan pada kegiatan bertanya, merangkum, menjelaskan, dan memprediksi. Hasil penelitian dalam 5 tahun terakhir menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Reciprocal Teaching mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika, termasuk pemahaman konsep pecahan. Studi di berbagai tingkat sekolah dasar dan menengah menunjukkan adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata hasil belajar, pemahaman konsep, serta keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi setelah penggunaan model ini. Dengan demikian, Reciprocal Teaching terbukti relevan dan efektif diterapkan pada pembelajaran matematika pecahan di kelas 5 SD.
