Abstract

This study aimed to determine the growth and survival of Hulu’u fish using different natural feeds and identify the best natural feed for the growth and survival of Hulu’u fish. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replications, resulting in 12 experimental units. Each unit contained 15 Fish. Data collected included absolute weight growth, absolute length increase, and survival rate. The study was conducted for one month, with data collection performed four times during the study period. The average absolute weight was P2 (0,46 cm), P1 (0,38 cm), P3 (0,34 cm), and P4 (0,33 cm). The average absolute weight was P2 (0,42 grams), P1 (0, 34 grams), P3 (0,26 grams), and P4 (0, 25 grams). Survival Rates were P2 (60%), P1 (55,56%), P4 (51%), and P3 (46%). The ANOVA analysis showed that the F-value was greater than the F-table value of 5%, indicating that the treatments significantly affected the growth of Hulu’u fish. Different feeding for Hulu’u fish had an effect because the feeds provided were well consumed by the fish, resulting in good growth. Silkworm was the best feed, producing the highest absolute length increase of 0,46 cm and an absolute weight increase of 0,42 grams.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving Artemia sp. enriched with squid oil at different doses to increase the survival of vannamei shrimp larvae (Litopenaeus vannamei). This study is conducted using the experimental method. The test animals used are 600 v an a m ei shrimp larvae (Litopenaeus vannamei), with treatment A (Control), B (20 individuals/head), C(25 individuals/head), and D(30 individuals/head). The containers used are 12 pieces of styrofoam with a volume of 30 L, and each contains 50 vaname shrimp larvae (Litopenaeus vannamei). This study lasted for 30 days. Furthermore, the design used ni this study is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Further tests are carried out using the Least Significant Difference (BNT) test. The research findings indicate that the administration of Artemia sp. enriched with squid oil at varying doses significantly impacts the survival rates of vannamei shrimp larvae. Treatment D, with a dose of 30 individuals per larvae, exhibited the highest survival rate at 62%, whereas Treatments C, B, and A had lower survival rates of 54%, 49%, and 41%, respectively. Treatment D was considered the most effective in this study. These findings offer valuable insights for the development of more effective and efficient vannamei shrimp farming practices.

Abstract

This study aims to discover the effect of subtitution of maggot flour (Hermetua illunces) with fish flour as animal feed for the growth and survival of Cauliflower Gold Fish (Cyprinus Carpio Linneaus). Moreover, it is also to discover the best percentage of maggot flour as an alternative ingredient to subtitute the fish flour to create impacts on the growth and survival  of Cauliflowe Golf Fish (Cyprinus Carpio Linneaus). In regards to that, thus study was caried put for 35 days during  September-November 2022 at the Fish Seed Center (BBI) Gorontalo City. This using 4 treatments with 3 repetitions: Threatment A (Control) 0% Maggot Flour, Threatment B 10% Maggot Flour, Threatment C 20% Maggot Flour, Threatment D 30% Maggot Flour.bThe result showed that maggot flour subtitution did not have significant impact on the growth and survival of Cauliflower Gold Fish (Cyprinus Carpio Linnaeus).

Abstract

Goldfish belong to the omnivorous group and are influenced by the factor of giving lemna and have a specific development rate of 2.00%. one of the obstacles to fish farming is the quality of feed that does not match what is needed for fish so that it affects the food chain in fish. This study aims to determine the feeding of different natural foods (Silkworms, Cladocera, and Magot) on the growth and survival of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio). This research was conducted at the Tatelu Freshwater Aquaculture Center (BPBAT), Dimembe District, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, on January 19, 2023. North Sulawesi, from January 19, 2023 to March 02, 2023. The research method was experimental using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications, the treatment consisted of MAS FISH (Cyprinus carpio) fed with natural food Silkworm (Tubifex sp), Cladocera, and Magot (Hermatila illuces). The fry used were 3-5 cm in size and reared in a 60x40x40 cm aquarium with a density of 20 fish/48 L of water for 42 days of rearing. The results showed that the growth rate and survival rate of goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) fry fed with natural food Silkworm (Tubifex sp), Cladocera, and Magot (Hermatila illuces).

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of papaya (Carica papaya) seed flour at varying doses on the growth and survival of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) seed. The study was conducted over 30 days at the Andalas Fish Seed Center (BBI), Kota Tengah, Gorontalo Province. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The doses of papaya seed flour administered were P1 (control), P2 (150 g), P3 (200 g), and P4 (250 g). Observational parameters included weight growth, length growth, and survival rate. Data analysis was performed using statistical test; analysis of variance (ANOVA) to assess differences among treatments, followed by post-hoc tests for detailed comparison of each treatment. The findings indicate that the addition of papaya seed flour to the feed improved the weight growth rate of Nile tilapia, with the best result of 1.24% observed in treatment P3, while the best length growth of 1.06% was found in treatment P4, and the highest survival rate of 80% was achieved in treatment P3, compared to the lowest survival rate of 56% in treatment P1. However, the addition of papaya seed flour to the feed did not have a significant effect on length and weight growth but had a significant impact on survival rate. During the study, water quality parameters were recorded with temperatures ranging from 26-27°C, pH levels between 6.0-7.1 ppm, and dissolved oxygen (DO) levels between 5.3-5.5 mg/L.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian Probiotik Minaraya dengan dosis berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup benih udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Perikanan Budidaya Laut dan Payau Lamu selama 30 hari. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Jumlah sampel adalah 12 dengan dosis yang bervariasi. Benih udang yang digunakan berjenis Vaname (PL 10), sedangkan pakan yang digunakan adalah PF 1000. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan panjang dan berat tertinggi dihasilkan oleh perlakuan D dengan dosis yaitu 16,50 mm dan 0.090 gr. Kelangsungan hidup tertinggi pada perlakuan C dengan dosis 10 ml/kg sebesar 78,00%. Pemberian probiotik dengan dosis berbeda memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan panjang, berat, dan kelangsungan hidup benih udang (p < 0,05). Namun, pemberian probiotik tidak mempengaruhi kualitas air secara signifikan (p > 0,05). Sehingga penambahan probiotik secara optimal dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup udang vannamei, tetapi tidak dapat meningkatkan kualitas air.

Abstract

The freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) is a precious commodity within the freshwater aquaculture sector. It is essential to investigate the effects of different natural feeds on lobster growth to enhance aquaculture practices. This study aimed to identify the types of natural feed that influence and improve freshwater lobster juveniles' growth and survival rate. This study was conducted from January to February 2024 at the Kasih Karunia Suwawa Aquaculture Hatchery. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, with four treatment groups: Treatment A (bean sprouts), Treatment B (Tubifex sp.), Treatment C (tofu residue), and Treatment D (a combination of bean sprouts, Tubifex sp., and tofu residue). The feed was administered daily at 7% of the total biomass, with a feeding frequency of twice per day. Data were analyzed using ANOVA with SPSS software. The observed parameters included length growth, weight growth, survival rate, and moulting frequency. The results showed that Treatment B (Tubifex sp.) yielded the best growth and moulting frequency, with length growth at 0.76 cm, weight growth at 0.70 g, and moulting frequency at 0.67. The highest survival rate, at 96.67%, was observed in Treatment D (bean sprouts + Tubifex sp. + tofu residue). ANOVA results indicated that different types of natural feeds did not significantly impact the growth and survival of freshwater lobsters.

Majalaya carp (Cyprinus carpio) is one of the essential commodities used to increase fisheries production in Indonesia. However, this cultivation activity is often hampered by disease problems caused by parasites. Therefore, it is necessary to research the inventory of ectoparasites in Majalaya carp with different sizes. This study aims to determine the type, intensity, and prevalence of ectoparasites in Majalaya carp of different sizes. Samples were taken by random sampling from cultivation ponds in the North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The research method used a descriptive method, and for ectoparasite examination, a native method was used by examining the surface of the fish's body, mucus, fins, gills, and eyes. The study results found six types of ectoparasites: Dactylogyrus sp, Argulus sp, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Trichodina sp, Vorticella sp, and Gyrodactylus sp. At a size of 4-7 cm, more Dactylogyrus sp were found. On the gills, size 8-14 cm I. multifiliis on mucus and size 23-30 cm Argulus sp on the surface of the fish body. The intensity level of ectoparasites produced on Dactylogyrus sp reached a value of 5.14 Ind/fish (low infection), I.multifiliis 4.27 Ind/fish (low infection), and Argulus sp of 3.80 Ind/fish (low infection). Then, the prevalence level of ectoparasites produced on Dactylogyrus sp reached a value of 70% (moderate infection), Ichthyophthirius multifiliis 50% (persistent infection), and Argulus sp 67% (persistent infection). This study emphasizes the importance of water quality management and fish density regulation.

Abstract

Comet fish (Carassius auratus auratus) is one type of freshwater ornamental fish that is highly demanded by the ornamental fish hobbyist community because it has a variety of colors and attractive physical forms. However, comet fish cultivation has decreased due to disease attacks that lead to death caused by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. Therefore, farmers generally use chemical drugs such as antibiotics to treat diseases in comet fish, yet for antibiotics, and it is necessary to research herbal medicines that contain antibacterial content, such as turmeric (Curcuma domestica). This research aims to determine the effect of immersion time using turmeric extract solution for treatment and survival rate of comet fish seeds infected with A.hydrophila bacteria. This is experimental research with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replicates, namely treatment A (control), B (50 minutes immersion), C (60 minutes immersion), and D (70 minutes immersion). The results showed that using turmeric extract affected treating comet fish seeds infected with A.hydrophila bacteria. As for the survival rate, the results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the use of turmeric extract had no significant effect, with the percentage value of the survival rate of comet fish seeds of treatment A (63.30%), B (90.00%), C (80.00%), and D (86.60%).
