Abstract

The Advancement of Agricultural Technology in Conjunction with the Modernization Wave: Not Only Progress and Convenience, but Also Confrontation with Agricultural Problems The progression of agricultural technology alongside the currents of modernization has yielded not only advancement and increased ease in human existence but has also precipitated a series of agricultural quandaries. From a philosophical vantage, the essence of technology resides in its framework, which perceives nature as an instrument amenable to human engineering. The process of technological development, or technification, within modern agriculture, is fraught with predicaments. Consequently, this exposition seeks to delve into these predicaments concerning the human perspective on both nature and its subsequent contextualization within the Islamic framework. The predicaments associated with technification in agriculture can be delineated into four salient facets. First, there is the concomitant technological worldview that accompanies it. Second, its predominant focus gravitates towards the resolution of "how to" inquiries. Third, it exhibits an orientation geared explicitly towards efficiency and sophistication. Lastly, it contributes to the attenuation of the sensory experiences of humans with regard to the natural world.

Abstract

This study investigates Shihāb al-Dīn al-Suhrawardī's sufi philosophy of illumination and explores its potential contribution to contemporary environmental consciousness. The increasingly urgent global ecological crisis has sparked interdisciplinary debate about root causes and comprehensive solutions. Several contemporary thinkers argue that the ecological crisis is a manifestation of a more fundamental ontological crisis, namely the loss of humans' harmonious relationship with nature. In this context, Islamic philosophy, especially the school of illumination (ishrāq) developed by Shihāb al-Dīn al-Suhrawardī, offers a unique perspective that can enrich environmental discourse. The research aims to integrate Suhrawardī’s ontological and epistemological concepts with contemporary ecological principles to offer a novel perspective on human-nature relationships. A descriptive-analytical approach is employed to analyze Suhrawardī’s philosophical texts and correlate them with modern ecological theories. The study reveals that Suhrawardī’s concept of asala al-mahiya (essential reality) and his illuminationist epistemology, which views all beings as emanations of divine light, challenge the anthropocentric worldview. This perspective promotes two fundamental ecological principles: biospherical illuminative egalitarianism and illuminative equilibrium. These principles emphasize social justice and environmental balance, recognizing humans as integral parts of nature with responsibility for its preservation. By shifting the human-nature relationship from a subject-object dichotomy to an inter-subject interaction, Suhrawardī’s philosophy can enhance awareness of environmental issues and inspire more sustainable practices. Integrating spiritual wisdom and ecological consciousness offers a holistic approach to addressing contemporary environmental challenges.

Abstract

The issue of zuhd is very urgent to deal with, especially in the current era of modernization which has had negative impacts in all fields; in education, social, political, and cultural. Therefore, an islâh movement is needed to minimize and even eliminate these negative impacts. Among the Sufi scholars who were very persistent in implementing the islâh movement was Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani. At a time when there was a lot of depravity and shocks in his time, al-Jilani with his zuhd was able to play a good role in this islâh movement. Therefore, this article will specifically discuss the implementation of zuhd in the islâh movement of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani. Using the descriptive-analytical method, this study finds that the implementation of zuhd in the islâh movement of al-Jilani includes three things, namely in interpreting the true meaning and understanding of zuhd; in education and teaching, as well as in his lectures and preaching. Thus, al-Jilani was one of the Sufi scholars who integrated the teaching of zuhd with his islâh movements. Finally, it seems justifiable to assert that integrating zuhd with the islâh movement is very important to overcome the destructive impacts of modernization.

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between the concept of Khilafah in the Risale-i Nur and the "Zero Waste" movement in Indonesia. The study utilizes a literature review, including a compilation of Risale-I Nur, data from the Zero Waste program in Indonesia's National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN), and related literature. This data is then qualitatively analyzed and subjected to content analysis to describe the relevance and implications of it concept on the Indonesia Zero Waste movement.  The research demonstrates that the concept of Khilafah transcends the anthropocentric and ecocentric perspectives, emphasizing human responsibility towards the environment. The research further illustrates how the concept of Khilafah utilizes the "Law of Purification" as a foundation for the "Zero Waste" concept. Despite the progress made by Indonesia in waste management, significant challenges remain. The research highlights the role of the Khilafah concept in fostering religious awareness and sensitivity within the "Zero Waste" movements. It elucidates that the connection between the Nursian Khilafah and the "Zero Waste" movements constitutes a religious basis and sensitivity that requires continuous attention. The research is expected to provide profound insights into the potential of the Nursian Khilafah in addressing waste problems and supporting the "Zero Waste" movement in Indonesia

Abstract

A community service program was conducted in partnership with Toko Aria Stasinary Ponorogo. A situational analysis revealed that approximately 60% of employees were at risk of burnout due to high work pressure, negatively impacting their mental health and productivity. Additionally, spiritual support facilities, such as places of worship and spiritual reading materials, were underutilized. The program employed a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach, involving a series of steps including foundation laying, planning, data gathering and analysis, and action planning. Activities encompassed burnout syndrome education, and spiritual guidance based on the Sufiistic Illaj Qudsi Nursi Therapy (TSIQN), which involved elements such as tauhid suggestion, focused prayer, and tasbihat. Furthermore, improvements were made to the worship facilities, and technological resources such as the Muthala'ah Risale-i Nur application, electronic books, and focused prayer guides were provided. The results indicated that each therapy component, including tauhid suggestion, focused prayer, and tasbihat, contributed to stress reduction, improved focus, and a deeper sense of purpose in work. Employee mental health improved by 95%, and there was a notable increase in employees' understanding of tauhid values, a more positive attitude, and enhanced productivity.

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses academic issues related to the model of human domination over nature and its environmental impact, particularly in the context of the worldview of Islam. This model has led to rapid and severe environmental damage. The study employs a critical analysis method of textual and written materials, with an emphasis on understanding key Islamic concepts related to the relationship between humans and nature. The analysis aims to describe the dominant worldviews, such as anthropocentrism and the holistic ecological worldview within Islam. The research findings indicate a paradigm shift, transitioning from an organic and spiritual view of nature before 1500 to a mechanistic vision that seeks to control nature thereafter. In the context of Islamic ecology, nature is considered a comprehensive unity and not merely an exploitable object. This article fills a gap in previous research by focusing on the Islamic perspective on nature. We connect this perspective with predominantly Muslim countries' current practices and environmental policies. Furthermore, we compare the Islamic perspective with other paradigms such as ecocentrism and biocentrism, offering policy recommendations to integrate the Islamic perspective on nature into environmental conservation efforts. Islam offers a distinct worldview that emphasizes the relationship between humans and nature and their responsibility to preserve it as an act of obedience to the Creator. Therefore, Islam has the potential to provide solutions to current ecological challenges.

Abstract

The intellect has two aspects such as cognitive or theoretical intellect (‘alimah) and active or practical intellect (‘amilah). This cognitive intellect have four aspect such as material intellect (al-‘aql al-hayulani), possible intellect (al-‘aql al-mumkin) or possessive intellect (al-‘aql bi’l malakah) or intellect in action (al-‘aql bi’l-fi’l), potential intellect (al-‘aql al-quwwah), and acquired intellect (al-‘aql al-mustafad) called by the holy spirit (al-ruh al-Quds). the intellect function as the aspect of soul such as the vegetative (al-nabatiyyah), the animal (al-hayawaniyah) and the human (al-insaniyyah) or the rational (al-nathiqah). Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas take the important step to solve this problem and analyze the linguistic problem as the one step to perform the Islamization of contemporary knowledge which developed with the key of Islamic term concept as intellect

Abstract

Development of technology in various fields is increasing rapidly. Younger generation will face competition from two things, namely competition between individuals and competition with robots/AI. Unfortunately, many of Indonesia's young generation adhere to the mindset of "Mediocrity". This mediocrity is loved by various levels of society, including Buddhist Colleges students in Jabodetabek. However, there has been no research that addresses the mediocrity of Buddhist Colleges students in Jabodetabek in their role as agents of change. Various perspectives are needed from existing organizations of Indonesian Buddhist scholars on the role of Buddhist Colleges students in Jabodetabek as agents of change. Is it good, or tend to be mediocre? As well as solutions to the Tipitaka values that can be implemented to overcome this problem. The type of research used is qualitative. The data collection technique used unstructured in-depth interviews and quoted directly from various sources. Data analysis used data interpretation and heuristics. The objectivity and validity of the data used the Mahapadessa parallelization and triangulation methods. The results of this research is based on the analysis of the four dimensions of the agent of change, namely the catalyst; resource linker; solution giver; and process helper, on average Buddhist Colleges students in Jabodetabek tend to be mediocre in carrying out their duties as agents of change. As well as solutions These solutions are scattered in various existing canons. In this case, the researcher tries to summarize the various existing canons as a solution approach to overcome the mediocrity mindset based on the Tipitaka, namely: Generating determination and changing mindsets; Analyze the advantages & disadvantages and determine goals / ideals; Find a good place/environment to grow; Avoid wrong associations and associate with good people; Expanding relationships with four ways of treating others; Continuously learning and self-evaluating; Keep practicing and trying to develop your potential.
