Abstract

Sapeken District is a remote archipelagic area with limited transportation access and educational infrastructure, resulting in unequal youth development services. Low public awareness of the importance of education further exacerbates adolescents’ vulnerability to the negative impacts of globalization and unfiltered information technology. In recent years, moral degradation among adolescents in this region has intensified due to weak value-based guidance and limited moral supervision. This study aims to analyze the role of Abu Hurairah Islamic Boarding School in strengthening adolescents’ moral resilience in Sapeken District, Sumenep Regency. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving teachers, students, and relevant stakeholders. The findings reveal that Abu Hurairah Islamic Boarding School plays a strategic role in enhancing adolescents’ moral resilience through intensive religious education, exemplary role modeling by teachers and caregivers, personal mentoring approaches, and the enforcement of firm rules and sanctions against deviant behavior. These efforts effectively foster adolescents’ moral resilience and promote the internalization of moral values in dailylife.

Abstract

This study examined how implementing Islamic Religious Education instruction shapes the character of students with special needs attending inclusive schools, such as SMP Muhammadiyah 18 Surabaya. Islamic Religious Education is the primary resource for character education in Islamic schools like SMP Muhammadiyah 18 Surabaya. However, this effort faces serious challenges when faced with specific student conditions, including students with special needs. As an inclusive school, the school needs to implement special strategies to ensure the learning process runs as expected. Therefore, this study attempted to analyse these strategies. This qualitative study used data collection techniques such as interviews, observation, and documentation. This study revealed several strategies and approaches to Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teaching for students with special needs, including shadow-teacher mentoring, role-model-based learning, and special classes. These strategies were deemed quite effective, successfully changing the behaviour of children with special needs in their daily lives, particularly in carrying out religious obligations. However, further development of learning methods and teacher training was necessary to develop inclusive teaching strategies tailored to students' special needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Al-Kahfi Time program in forming the habit of reading Surah Al-Kahfi every Friday among students of the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UMSurabaya). This research approach uses a qualitative method with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with Jam'iyyatul Qurra' Wal Huffadz administrators, direct observation of activities, and document analysis related to program implementation at the UMSurabaya Mosque. The results showed that the Al-Kahfi Time program contributed positively to increasing students' spiritual awareness and habituation to reading Surah Al-Kahf consistently. Increased understanding of the importance of the Prophet's sunnah can be seen from the consistency of program participants, which is supported by a conducive community environment and technology-based reminders. However, challenges such as academic schedule conflicts, lack of student participation from the Muhammadiyah Student Association, and limited variety of implementation strategies remain. The program has only been running for one year so further development is needed. The researcher concludes that these results demonstrate the effectiveness of the program in shaping students' positive habits, with recommendations to expand participation and make optimal use of digital technology. This research contributes to the development of a community-based program that integrates spiritual values in life.
