Abstract

Challenged by global awareness of environmental problems and demands of the industrial revolution, the Ionic Liquids (ILs) approach as a cheap and environmentally friendly solvent has been explored in various chemical reactions in many industrial fields. This article aims to perform bibliometric analysis of ILs by combining mapping analysis using Publish or Pheris and VOSviewer software and to pinpoint trends in scientific research. For this purpose, an exploratory study with a quantitative approach was developed based on secondary data from journals in google scholar, between 2013 and 2023. The keywords used in the data search are Ionic Liquid, low cost, and green solvent. The bibliometric indicator refers to 1,000 different relevant articles from 52 publishers with the largest number of articles produced by Elsevier, totaling 423 articles. The results showed that the peak of production occurred in 2014 and then decreased every year. The main reason for this increase is the need for cheap and environmentally friendly solvents to replace expensive and environmentally damaging conventional solvents, while the decline is due to the shift of interest into the field of applied chemistry. From the results of the Bibliometric analysis, there are 9 clusters with 126 related terms including low-cost, green solvent, application, study, and extraction. The most popular terms in 2022-2023 are related to fuel terms. This study shows the importance of bibliometric analysis in providing analytical data about what phenomena occur. This research is expected to help and become a reference for researchers in conducting and determining research themes to be taken.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the chemistry aspects of local practices on Mango (Mangifera indica L.)fruit ripening process with calcium carbide to be integrated in contextual chemistry learning.Literature studies from scientific journals related to natural and artificial fruit ripening werecomparatively analyzed in relation to local knowledge and scientific concepts to identify potentialintegration into science learning (especially chemistry). The results showed that the integration ofnatural science with local practices, such as fruit ripening, is an innovative way to teach chemicalkinetics in a contextualized way. The study of the fruit ripening process can help students understandchemical concepts, especially chemical kinetics, in a more relevant and practical context. Thus, chemistry learning is not only limited to theory and laboratory experiments, but also includes realapplications that are relevant to the lives of students and society.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the decomposition of organic waste into carbon microparticles under atmospheric conditions. Carbon microparticles are made by drying and carbonizing raw water hyacinth. Then, the carbon microparticles that have been produced are ground using a saw-milling apparatus. Carbon microparticles prepared from raw water hyacinth were heated in an electric heating furnace at a specific temperature for the analysis. The experimental results show that the thermal decomposition process has three steps. Water hyacinth is stable at temperatures below 100°C. As carbon decomposes at higher temperatures, the process of decomposition into smaller molecules occurs. Then, at temperatures ranging from 150 to 280°C, an effective carbonization process occurs to form carbon. The advantages gained, in this case, will provide a better understanding of how to use heat treatment on water hyacinth.

Abstract

The process in the industry requires equipment with high efficiency, especially energy. This is closely related to the need to measure the heat-transfer process in heat exchangers. A study of the effectiveness of a heat exchanger is needed to increase the effectiveness of the heat exchanger because each heat exchanger product created has different effectiveness. This study aims to discuss and explain the calculations in the design of shell and tube-type heat exchangers. A step-by-step method for calculating heat exchanger designs is presented, including reviewing simple cases regarding heat exchanger design calculations. This research has the potential to be used as standard information on how to do step-by-step calculations for heat exchanger design.

Abstract

This study examines the mapping of research bibliometric data analysis related to resin-based brake pads. The research data was collected through the publish or perish reference manager application from the Google Scholar database. The title of the study material and abstract is used as a basis for searching for availability based on the specified keywords, namely "Resin-based Brake Pads". The search results show a total of 398 articles that are relevant and used in the mapping analysis. VOSviewer is used to complete the mapping process. The study period used as the study material was articles published in Google Scholar indexed journals from 2012 to 2021. We examined the number of published articles on resin-based brake pads and their relationship to problem areas using VOSviewer. The results showed that research on resin-based breake pads experienced an increase in research interest from 2017 to 2021. The smallest number of publications occurred in 2015 with 23 publications. There are main terms that are usually discussed and related to the research theme of resin-based brake pads, namely pad material, development and epoxy resin. This review is expected to serve as a starting point for conducting research by taking the field of study of resin-based brake pads.

Abstract

Sustainable materials are essential in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in clean energy, water purification, waste reduction, and green infrastructure. This study investigates the role of material innovation in supporting the SDGs using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis (from Scopus database (2015–2025) using keywords “Sustainable Material,” “Green Material,” and “SDGs”). The findings showed a growing research trend, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, with significant contributions from chemistry, engineering, and environmental sciences. Materials like nanomaterials, biomaterials, biodegradable polymers, and waste-derived products contribute to SDG 6, 7, 9, 12, and 13. Innovations such as green nanotechnology, bio-based materials, and circular material design show strong potential to address global sustainability challenges. These materials not only support emission reduction and waste valorization but also encourage green job creation and sustainable production. This study highlights interdisciplinary pathways to align material science with sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how Environmental Chemistry education contributes to shaping the science teacher identity of prospective chemistry teachers through a STEM approach. The bibliometric analysis method was conducted using Scopus data (2015–2024), analyzed with Biblioshiny and VOS Viewer. From an initial 483 documents, 418 relevant works comprising articles, books, and reviews were selected based on keywords such as "Science Identity", "Science Teacher Identity", "STEM Education Approach", and "Environmental Science Chemistry". Biblioshiny was used to identify trends over the decade, including annual publication rates, key journals, influential authors, productive affiliations and countries, globally cited articles, and frequently occurring keywords. VOS Viewer further enhanced the analysis by offering three types of visualizations network, overlay, and density to illustrate the relationships and research trends among the selected publications. These visual tools reveal the interconnectedness of topics and highlight emerging areas in the field. The findings offer valuable insights into the global development of research at the intersection of science identity, STEM education, and environmental chemistry. This bibliometric exploration provides a foundation for researchers to identify current trends, understand the research landscape, and recognize gaps that can inform future studies.
