Abstract

Limited understanding regarding healthy relationships, religious implications, the impact of LGBTQ occurrences, psychological susceptibilities associated with LGBTQ, and inappropriate approaches towards LGBTQ individuals can heighten one's susceptibility towards developing LGBTQ tendencies or mental disorders. This initiative, referred to as IbDM, will be executed with the utilization of a social campaign approach and interactive talk shows, to cultivate positive awareness and effective strategies for addressing and preventing the rise in LGBTQ transmission. The social campaign involve distributing pamphlets and pocketbooks about LGBTQ matters across all faculties in Unand, serving as a reminder and platform for introspection in anticipation of LGBTQ transmission. Additionally, incorporating interactive and captivating talk show activities featuring knowledgeable speakers will enable the dissemination of understanding, thereby enhancing the academic community's awareness in a more profound manner. The content presented during these activities will encompass various aspects of LGBTQ, including social and religious dimensions, cultural and legal considerations, and health-related perspectives. This activity has provided an overview of the perceptions of students involved as participants regarding LGBTQ behaviour. All participants (100%) view LGBTQ as deviant behavior, the importance of the role of parents in building children's character and identity, and the large influence of the social environment as a barrier to LGBTQ. Therefore, it is important for the role of policymakers at the central and regional government levels, leaders of higher education institutions, the academic community, health practitioners, and other fields to be able to work together in enforcing strict legal regulations against LGBTQ, socializing the impact of sexual identity and orientation deviation, strengthening the role parents and social environment as deterrents to deviant sexual identity and orientation behavior.

Abstract

Fitra YeniVertigo can cause sufferers to experience loss of balance. The global prevalence of dizziness, vertigo and imbalance is 5-10%, and reaches 40% in patients older than 40 years. Vertigo problems attack 20-30% of people in the productive age range, and 8-18% attack children, as many as 7-10% of adults report recurrent vertigo. In productive age, vertigo has a high risk of causing loss of balance, falls, fractures and injury. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Brandt Daroff exercises in reducing vertigo complaints. The instrument used to assess the level of vertigo experienced by case clients was the Vertigo Symptom Scale Short Form (VSS-SF) instrument which consisted of VSS-V items (to determine vertigo caused by balance problems) and VSS-A (to determine vertigo caused by by anxiety problems). Next, the data was analyzed descriptively. The study results showed that Brandt Daroff's exercise regularly for 10 days had a positive impact on clients, namely a decrease in VSS SF test results. Before the exercise, a total score of 31 (moderate vertigo) was obtained, and after the exercise the total score was 19 (mild vertigo), and on the 14th day the total examination score was 16 (mild vertigo), as well as symptoms of dizziness, blurred vision, the head and surroundings feel spinning and the nausea has reduced. It was concluded that the success of the Brandt Daroff training program cannot be separated from the support of the family which provides strength and creates an atmosphere of mutual belonging for family members in meeting the family's developmental needs and fulfilling planned nursing interventions. Keywords: family; Brandt Daroff's workout; vertigo  ABSTRAK Vertigo dapat menyebabkan penderita mengalami kehilangan keseimbangan. Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage marked by physical, psychological, emotional, and social transitions that increase vulnerability to mental health challenges. Internal and external stressors such as academic pressure, peer relationships, and the school environment can heighten the risk of psychological distress. This community service program was conducted on 28 May 2025 at SMKN 1 Lembah Gumanti, Solok, West Sumatra, through collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Andalas, and the school community. The program aimed to increase awareness of adolescent mental health and promote preventive strategies through school-based education. The intervention was delivered in three phases: (1) screening and problem assessment using the SRQ-29, (2) educational sessions, and (3) stress management workshops. A total of 196 Grade XI students participated. Pre-test and post-test results demonstrated measurable improvements in knowledge of adolescent mental health (Mean pre-test = 7.69, SD = 1.89; Mean post-test = 8.49, SD = 1.91). Students also reported increased awareness of internal (resilience, emotional regulation, mindfulness) and external (peer support, school environment) factors influencing mental health, as well as confidence in applying stress management techniques. These findings underscore the importance of school-based interventions in raising awareness, strengthening coping skills, and preventing mental health problems among adolescents. Future programs may expand by incorporating peer-support models such as student mental health ambassadors to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.

Abstract

Stunting among children under five years old (toddler) is a fundamental challenge that must be addressed. This is due to the nutritional status of children in the first five years of life is related to cognitive development and the prevention of chronic diseases later in life. Given the high prevalence of stunting across various regions, it is necessary to conduct research to identify factors associated with stunting. Food security is one of the factors contributing to stunting based on the WHO framework. This study aimed to examine the relationship between household food security and the incidence of stunting. This study used a cohort design with retrospective approach. The retrospective method used in this approach involves first measuring stunting in children under five years old, then tracing back their household food security history to determine whether there are factors influencing the incidence of stunting. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and the sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, resulting in a total of 123 mothers with stunted toddlers. Chi-square analysis was used for data analysis. The chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.010. This study found a significant relationship between household food security and the incidence of stunting.
