Abstract

This study aimed to describe learning outcomes of students at MAN 2 Palu in terms of the tendency of learning styles in chemistry. This type of study was descriptive research. Sampling was carried out using the proportional stratified random sampling technique consisted of 93 students. Data collection technique used instruments of learning style questionnaire and learning outcomes test as well as daily test scores of Acid and Base Solutions. The results showed that students of Class XI MIA at MAN 2 Palu had various learning styles. There were 49 students (53%) with a tendency to visual learning styles, 31 students (34%) with an auditorial learning style, and 13 students (13%) with a kinesthetic learning style. Students with visual learning style performed an excellent category of learning outcomes of 25,81% compared to students with an auditorial learning style of 16% and with a kinesthetic learning style of 8,6%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of Brain Based Learning (BBL) model toward learning outcomes of chemistry in grade XI at SMA 7 Palu. The method used was a quasi-experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling was done by purposive with the sample of class XI Science 2 as the experimental class and class XI Science 5 as the control class. Data of students’ learning outcome was tested using non-parametric statistical analysis, i.e the Mann-Whitney test (U-Test).  Analysis of the data obtained the value of students’ learning outcomes in the experimental class (x ̅_1) was 89.16 with a standard deviation of 10.96, while in the control class students the (x ̅_2) value was 56.47 with a standard deviation of 11.50. Hypothesis testing obtained a Zcount value was 5.68 which was in the acceptance area of H1, so tha H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. This mean that the average score of students’ learning outcomes of the experimental class was not the similar to the control class. This study concluded that the Brain Based Learning (BBL) model influenced students’ learning outcomes on reaction rate at SMAN 7 Palu..

Abstract

Analysis of Fatty Acid Content of Eel (Anguilla Bicolor) from Lake Poso. Skipsi, Chemistry Education Study Program, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, Tadulako University, Palu. Advisor Sri Mulyani Sabang. The purpose of this study was to determine the fatty acid content of eel (Anguilla Bicolor) originating from Lake Poso. The method used to analyze the fat content was the shoxletation extraction method. The results showed that the fat content of eel (Anguilla Bicolor) from Lake Poso = 1.94%. Meanwhile, to determine the fatty acid composition of eel, it was analyzed using gas chromatography with the composition of fatty acids found in eel (Anguilla Bicolor) including saturated fatty acids 51.89%, monounsaturated fatty acids = 42.68%, and unsaturated fatty acids. plural saturation = 7.99%. Eel has many benefits for the human body, eel meat is rich in protein, vitamins, fatty acids, and micro elements (minerals). The content of vitamins in eels include vitamin A, vitamin B1, and vitamin B2, as well as micro elements such as Zn (Zink). In addition to vitamins and micro elements, eels also contain unsaturated weak acids needed by the body, including omega fatty acids which are useful for the development of children's brain cells.
