Abstract

This research proposes a multifunctional wireless health monitoring tool with a display for Android and iOS devices. This research aims to develop a realistic solution for real-time and conveniently accessible health monitoring via mobile devices. The device allows users to test and track health factors such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, body temperature, and blood glucose. It collects data properly by using wireless technology and sensors. The data is subsequently supplied to the appropriate apps on Android and iOS devices. The data is presented visually in the program, making it instructive and user-friendly. The device's development technique involved extensive testing and validation against established comparators to assure accuracy. The results of this study show that this digital, multi-purpose health monitoring device works well and reliably to give real-time health information. This innovation promotes health monitoring and digital health information access.

Abstract

This study aims to identify what assessments can be used to screen cognitive function in children with chronic illnesses. The method used is a systematic review using the PRISMA flow diagram. Researchers used PIOs and searched for English language articles published from 2013 to October 2023. The databases used were PubMed, ProQuest, Science Direct, Taylor & Francis, Scopus, and EBSCO Medline. This systematic review showed that the initial total of articles obtained from all databases was 5889. After limiting the articles, 297 articles were obtained, which were then screened according to the inclusion criteria, with the final result being eight articles with a cross-sectional design. In conclusion, four instruments for assessing cognitive function in children with chronic diseases include Ouvrier modified MMSE, EpiTrack Junior (EpitrackJR), pedsFACIT-PCF, and Ped-ANAM. The Ouvrier-modified MMSE is widely used in several kinds of literature and is validated against standard cognitive function examinations by examination. Abstract

This study aims to identify fatigue that occurs in the age group of children with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) type 1 systematically. The method used is a systematic review by searching electronic database literature through EBSCOhost, Sage Publication, Science Direct, and Google Scholar by examining research results from published articles. The results showed that two of the existing pieces looked at sleep disturbances as a contributing factor to fatigue, and two reports stated that hypoglycemia symptoms were associated with the incidence of fatigue. Two articles investigated the lifestyle of children with type 1 DM as a factor causing fatigue, and one looked at anxiety as a factor. Factors causing fatigue. In conclusion, fatigue in children with type 1 diabetes can be related to various factors such as sleep disturbances, symptoms of hypoglycemia, lifestyle, and anxiety. Abstract

This study aims to examine in a structured way the research results related to sibling interventions and support programs for children with chronic illnesses and their effects on psychosocial siblings. The method used is a systematic review using six electronic databases: Clinical Key Nursing, Scopus, Science Direct, Sage Journal Taylor & Francis, PubMed, and hand-searched. The keywords used to search for relevant articles in this study were: (sibling OR brother OR sister) AND (chronic OR disability) AND (Intervention OR therapy) AND (psychosocial OR psychology OR social). The results showed that as many as five articles were obtained discussing different types of intervention and support, which positively affected sibling psychosocial conditions. In conclusion, sibling intervention and support can be done through communication, the interaction between siblings, support groups, and art and nature therapy. Sibling intervention and support can positively improve the psychosocial condition of sibling children with chronic illnesses. Keywords: Support, Intervention, Chronic Disease, Siblings, Siblings

Abstract

This systematic review aimed to identify the effectiveness of therapeutic play in reducing the impact of hospitalization on pre and school-aged children. Five databases were searched (ClinicalKey Nursing, Scopus, Sage Journals, ScienceDirect, and PubMed) for articles published between 2019 and 2023. Six RCT studies from Turkey met the inclusion criteria and were assessed for quality using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist. The therapeutic play interventions included goldfish therapy, educational animated films, finger puppet play, music and kaleidoscope therapy, cartoon-assisted endoscopy preparation packages, and buzzy, jet lidocaine, bubble-blowing, and aromatherapy. The duration of the interventions varied. The outcomes measured were anxiety, fear, pain, emotional and psychological well-being, and postoperative nausea and vomiting. The results showed that therapeutic play significantly reduced anxiety (50% of studies), fear (100%), and pain (50%) in children undergoing hospitalization or medical procedures. Goldfish therapy also improved emotional and psychological well-being. No significant differences were found in postoperative vomiting and nausea. The most effective interventions were goldfish therapy, educational animated films, and finger puppet play. In conclusion, therapeutic play is a beneficial nursing intervention for reducing the negative impacts of hospitalization on children aged 3-12 years. Recommendations include implementing therapeutic play in pediatric hospital settings and conducting further research to expand the types of therapeutic play available.

Abstract

Background: Fatigue is one of the most common non-specific symptoms experienced by children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), yet it often goes unnoticed by clinicians. It can affect quality of life, learning ability, and engagement in daily activities. Fatigue in T1DM patients is not only related to glycemic control, but is also influenced by a complex range of physical, psychological and social determinants. A comprehensive understanding of the factors that contribute to fatigue in this population is essential for the development of more effective and holistic intervention strategies. Purpose: To determine fatigue among children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Method: A systematic review with article selection guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The article search was conducted systematically using the keywords: “Child” AND “Children” AND “Adolescent” AND “Adolescence” AND “Teenagers” AND “Diabetes Mellitus Type 1” AND “Type 1 Diabetes” AND “IDDM” AND “Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus” AND “Juvenile Onset Diabetes” AND “Psychosocial Problem” AND “Psychosocial Support System” AND “Psychological Support System” AND “Social Support System”. This study is registered on PROSPERO (CRD42024618445). Results: Aside from anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders, other psychosocial issues—specifically self-management difficulties—are also observed in children with T1DM. These challenges are often associated with fatigue, which can negatively affect a child's motivation, focus, and ability to consistently carry out essential diabetes care tasks such as taking insulin, monitoring blood sugar levels, managing diet, and engaging in physical activity. Conclusion: The findings related to fatigue as a psychosocial issue may offer evidence-based support for the early identification and intervention of psychosocial challenges in children and adolescents with T1DM.
