Abstract

This study is situated within the growing need to integrate film-based media into literary learning by examining how semiotic signs and moral values are represented and pedagogically utilized. It addresses the research problem of how Roland Barthes’ semiotic elements—denotation, connotation, and myth—along with moral values are constructed in the film 2nd Miracle in Cell No. 7 by Herwin Novianto and how these elements can be applied as teaching materials in senior high school. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, the study analyzes scenes and dialogues through observation and documentation techniques, using Barthes’ semiotic framework and Wicaksono’s moral value categories, including human relations with God, self, others, and the universe. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the film presents layered meanings through semiotic structures and conveys diverse moral values that are relevant to students’ social and emotional development. The study argues that these findings support the use of the film as an effective and contextual teaching resource for Grade XI students, particularly in learning critical response texts, as it enhances interpretive skills and moral awareness.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for Indonesian Language teaching materials for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) that are not only oriented towards linguistic aspects, but also instill local cultural values ​​contextually and utilize learning technology. The purpose of this research is to develop a BIPA textbook based on Banten culture by integrating the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) approach to create interactive, meaningful, and culturally insightful language learning. This research uses a research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model and applies a mixed methods approach. Qualitative data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation with teachers, learners, and experts in BIPA and Banten culture. In contrast, quantitative data were obtained from expert validation results and product practicality tests. The results show that the developed textbook obtained an average validation score of 3.78 out of 4 (very good category) and a practicality level above 80% of the established indicators. This textbook is considered contextual, easy to use, and able to increase motivation and intercultural understanding of foreign learners. The conclusion of this study confirms that the integration of Banten culture and the TPACK approach is effective in producing BIPA teaching materials that are valid, practical, and relevant to the needs of Indonesian language learning in the digital and global era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis makna denotatif dan konotatif pada headline berita digital Kompas.com edisi April 2025 serta relevansinya sebagai bahan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMA. Kajian ini berpijak pada teori semantik, khususnya perbedaan antara makna literal dan makna asosiatif, sebab headline berita daring tidak hanya berfungsi menyampaikan peristiwa, tetapi juga membangun penekanan, nuansa emosional, dan orientasi pembaca melalui pilihan diksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa 277 headline berita Kompas.com edisi April 2025 yang dikumpulkan melalui teknik dokumentasi, baca, dan catat. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi satuan leksikal kunci, menafsirkan makna denotatif, mengklasifikasikan makna konotatif berdasarkan nilai rasa, serta memverifikasi temuan melalui pembacaan konteks headline dan topik berita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makna denotatif ditemukan sebanyak 20 data, sedangkan makna konotatif lebih dominan, meliputi konotasi tinggi, ramah, berbahaya, tidak pantas, tidak enak, kasar, dan keras. Dominasi makna konotatif menunjukkan bahwa diksi headline tidak hanya berfungsi informatif, tetapi juga retoris untuk menarik perhatian, menguatkan isu, dan membentuk persepsi awal pembaca. Temuan ini relevan dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMA karena headline berita digital dapat digunakan sebagai bahan ajar kontekstual untuk mempelajari makna semantik, analisis teks berita, literasi kritis, dan sikap membaca digital yang bertanggung jawab.
