Abstract

Access to and use of digital technology promise positive impacts on young adults with disabilities’ social and economic integration, and on supporting their autonomy, and facilitating their inclusion into society. We conducted a scoping review and participatory approach to examine the barriers to access and utilization of digital technology to support the transition stage needs (in relation to education, daily living, community integration, and employment) of young adults with disabilities during Covid-19 pandemic. Identified barriers included affordability, availability, infrastructure, and access to community activities. The review highlights the importance of facilitators for promoting digital inclusion of 20 young adults with disabilities whose making batik with natural dyes. They are members of the Kubedistik SMEs in Tarakan. Online-based activities carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic show positive impacts, both in terms of increasing insight, skills, access to technology and literacy skills, as well as on self-confidence, work motivation, and potential for increased economic activity. Results suggested the need for greater emphasis on modeling and facilitating strategies to enhance skill, positive work-related cognitions, and appropriate non-verbal and paralinguistic styles.

Abstract

Liberika coffee is one of leading commodities in Jambi Province and has been registered as a Geographical Indication for West Tanjung Jabung area. In general, Liberika coffee plant is attacked by white fungus, which causes a decrease in production. Its impact on productivity and low prices decreased motivation of farmers to maintain this commodity, and land conversion occurs. In recent years, coffee plants have been converted to areca nut and palm oil which, economically, considered more promising. Even so, Liberika coffee has its own uniqueness, so it needs to be continuously developed. Ecotourism is one of activities that support and maintain the existence of Liberika coffee as a rich biodiversity in Jambi. The key to success and sustainability of this ecotourism development is participation of all stakeholders. For this reason, strengthening farming community as the spearhead of Liberika coffee development, both in personal and institutional capacity.

Abstract

An important aspect of implementing community empowerment programs is that the program is ongoing and sustainable. Entrepreneurial activity is one of the important programs in empowering the community. Therefore, the determining element of the optimal running and continuation of a community empowerment program is the entrepreneurial capabilities of the beneficiaries. Program facilitation generally has limitations in implementing community empowerment, both in terms of budget and program intensity. Therefore, beneficiary business actors need to develop their entrepreneurial capabilities through several training program and facilitator’s assistancy. These capacity building programs and facilitation could develop the sustainability of the implemented activities can be achieved. The entrepreneurial capability development program has been implemented by the Setaria Farmer Group in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, in order to optimize activities and develop product innovations as well as expand market share coverage. Developing exploitative capabilities through various empowerment activities is a provision for the Setaria Farmer Group to utilize honed entrepreneurial capabilities. Afterwards, they can maintain the sustainability of business activities that are being pioneered and developed, including adapting. the market share situation during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Residential solid waste is being a critical problem in many cities in clauding Jakarta.  Cummnity-based management is the most important strategy even when sophiticated treatment such as bio-energy or waste industrial park word be implemented soon, as every waste processing neds separated wastes.  Increasing the participation through community-based manajement is more effective than cange people’sperception and behavior on domestic wastes.  In some cates, to change community behavior in waste separition and recycling need more than ten years i.e. at Kampung Banjarsari, but with appropriate support system on sosial planning only took two years i.e. Kampung Rajawati.  The implementation constrain of this progammeis on replication or expandability of the progamme to implemented in another place.  There are also lack of government’s significantefforts to push and to supprots than action.  It’s true that some cummunities develop the some model, but without acceleration and exvandable progamme, the significance of that effort is very poor.  This study tried to ellaborate the model of system based ofnspatial analyses to determine resedential typology and found five resedential types i.e. high, middle-high, middle, middle-lower and lower level of resendential.  Quantitative analyses to determine typology of community participation found four types of cummnity participation i.e. moral-normative, moral-remunerayive, calculative-remuneraive and calculative-coercive.  Qualitative analyses had been ellaborated to determine authority or government policies typology.  Breaking down from these clssification, there strategies could develop, namely community participation strategy, infastructure development strategy and institutional manajement strategy.  Implementation of these models could accomodate the heterogeneity of communities and give positive impact on social acceptability.   Key words: social planning, community management, residential solid wastes

Abstract

Swampland is a prospective marginal land to be developed for rice cultivation. Rice plants that are adaptive to swampland usually have good tolerance to Fe. Previously, we obtained several rice lines tolerant to Fe toxicity in the field. This study aimed to analyze the swampy rice genotypes using STS molecular markers linked to bacterial leaf blight (BLB)-resistant genes and evaluate the resistance level of the genotypes against three BLB races under the greenhouse condition. This research was conducted in the Molecular Biology Laboratory and Greenhouse of the Indonesian Center for Agricultural Biotechnology andGenetic Resources Research and Development from January to May 2021. Eighteen swampy rice varieties/lines and two check varieties for Fe toxicity and BLB, respectively, were used in this research. The eight STS molecular markers linked to BLB resistance genes were used for genotyping analysis. The results showed that all rice plants tested contained xa5 allele gene, 19 genotypes had Xa4 allele gene, 17 genotypes had Xa7 allele gene, 9 genotypes had xa13 allele gene, 5 genotypes had xa13 allele gene, and 6 genotypes had Xa4 and Xa21 allele genes. Line B146E-4 was estimated to have 7 resistance alleles genes, meanwhile lines B14301E-KA-17-a, B14315E-KA-1, and B13-1-a have 6 resistance allele genes. The resistance evaluation of the genotypes against the three BLB races (races III, IV, and VIII) under the greenhouse condition showed that line B14315E-KA-1 was confirmed to be highly resistant to BLB disease. This line can be a promising candidate for swampy rice that is resistant toBLB disease.

Abstract

Soybean is the third most important food commodity in Indonesia, which is a cheap source of protein and rich in different nutritional contents for humans. This study aimed to analyze the four genotypes of the crossing parents using SSR primers and select one SSR polymorphic primer to confirm the F1 generation alleles compared to their parents. The research was conducted in the laboratory and greenhouse of the Indonesian Center for Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Resources Research and Development (ICABIOGRAD). The research activities included a polymorphic primers survey, population formation, and confirmation of crossing populations using one polymorphic primer. A total of 20 SSR primers were used to amplify the DNA of the four crossing parents (Biosoy 1, Biosoy 2, Demas, and Tanggamus). The results of the polymorphic SSR survey showed that 6 SSR primers could distinguish the combination of Biosoy 2 vs Demas parents, then 7 SSR primers could distinguish the combination of Biosoy 1 vs Tanggamus and Biosoy 2 vs Tanggamus parents. Satt 406 polymorphic primer was chosen to analyze F1 hybrid lines of three crossings. Based on phenotypic observation, two individuals were suspected to be hybrid lines. Molecular analysis using Satt 406 showed that alleles from male parents were not found in 16 F1 individuals from the three crossings. Selection using molecular markers such as Satt 406 polymorphic SSR can help breeders screen heterozygous populations in F1 generations to check successful crossings. Abstract

The role of the community in the use of medicinal plants is very important to encourage the development of natural resources in the surrounding environment and improve the degree of public health. Medicinal plants that have been widely researched and are often used by the people of Indonesia since a long time ago, can be an alternative treatment or support conventional treatment therapies. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in society in relation to the use of medicinal plants, document the diversity of medicinal plants and how to use medicinal plants by the community, and obtain a list of plant species based on the use value of disease categories. Data collection is done by open interviews, participatory observation, focus group discussions (FGD). Data were analyzed descriptively to describe the changes that occurred in the community before and after the existence of medicinal plants, inventorying the composition of medicinal plant species and how to use them. Quantitative analysis is done by calculating the Local User's Value Index (LUVI). The changes that occur are people using medicinal plants for cultivation, curing diseases and maintaining health. There are 44 plant species from 40 genera and 26 plant tribes used to cure 46 diseases. Asteraceae is a plant species with the highest number of species that are used as medicinal ingredients. Based on the calculation of the value of LUVI, Dayak onions are medicinal plants that have the highest score, which is 6%. Then followed by bay leaves 4.65% and sidaguri 4.55%. Ten common diseases that occur in the community are diarrhea, gout, cholesterol, high blood pressure, gastritis, rheumatism, asthma migraine, stroke, fever. Utilization of medicinal plants carried out by the community that is, by making processed products such as instant simplicia powder, dried simplicia, herbal medicine and tea bags. There is a change in the use of medicinal plants from previously not using medicinal plants and currently using medicinal plants to cure a disease and maintain health. The change occurred because of the existence of the non-governmental organization Aliksa as a facilitator and local leader who managed and assisted the cultivation and utilization program of medicinal plants. Common diseases that occur in the people of Hurip Jaya village are diarrhea, gout, cholesterol, high blood pressure, gastritis, rheumatism, asthma migraine, stroke, fever.
