Abstract

MSMEs are one of Indonesia’s national main economic pillars, with the contribution of those in Sidoarjo alone in 2019 of IDR 1.6 trillion. However, their business had to be disrupted by the rocketing cases of Corona Virus Disease (Covid) not long after. They had to struggle with sales decrease, raw material scarcity, distribution clogging, capital deficiency, and production reduction due to labor layoffs. This research aims to identify factors that influence the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo and measures required by them in order to maintain their sustainability during the pandemic. The scope of this study is the effects of business owner’s resources, environmental carrying capacity, financial management, and communication and information technology usage on the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo Regency. This research applies multivariate regression analysis and SmartPLS 4 as the statistical tools. The results of the analysis indicate that communication and information technology usage and environmental carrying capacity have significant effects on the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo during the Covid-19 pandemic, but business owner’s resources and financial management have no significant influence. Therefore, it can be concluded that capital aids, tax incentives, internal support from family, access to information technology, and digital marketing can support the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Technological developments are changing society's paradigm from conventional traditions to the digital era, making it possible to fulfill daily needs via smartphone devices. E-Wallet, as a form of digital wallet, is an important phenomenon that is influenced by companies in improving the quality of their applications. Payments with electronic money bring efficiency and a modern lifestyle, the impact of which can be seen in more impulsive consumer behavior. This research aims to explore the deeper impact of using E-Wallets on consumer behavior in the context of ease of transactions, and the extent to which this convenience can change shopping patterns into consumer behavior among the people of East Java who use E-wallets. The research method used is a quantitative approach with surveys (distributing questionnaires), and using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results of this research imply that the ease of use of E-Wallet not only provides transaction efficiency but also economic potential for consumers in East Java. Price and habit factors influence consumer behavior more than E-Wallet performance expectations. Therefore, these findings provide valuable guidance for E-Wallet service providers to design appropriate and effective strategies in the East Java market.

Abstract

The Indonesian capital market, represented by the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), serves as a crucial barometer reflecting the national economic condition and market participants' perceptions of macroeconomic variables such as inflation, the USD/IDR exchange rate, interest rates, and money supply (M2). This study aims to analyze the influence of these macroeconomic variables on changes in the IHSG during the 2019–2025 period using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach. The results indicate that only the money supply (M2) variable significantly affects IHSG changes both in the long and short term. Inflation, exchange rate, and interest rate variables do not show significant effects on IHSG. These findings suggest that monetary liquidity plays a central role in the dynamics of the Indonesian stock market during the study period, hence monetary policy management should focus on supporting capital market stability. This study recommends that investors and policymakers pay close attention to developments in the money supply as a key indicator in investment decision-making and economic policy formulation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI) and investment on sustainable economic growth in Indonesia from 2019 to 2023. The research employs a quantitative approach using panel data analysis from 34 provinces in Indonesia. It also includes two control variables—namely the Open Unemployment Rate and Regional Government Expenditure Budget—to assess their effects on the Environmental Quality Index as an indicator of sustainable economic growth. The findings reveal that the HDI, measured through Life Expectancy and Average Years of Schooling, has a positive and significant impact on sustainable economic growth. However, investment—represented by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Investment (DI)—does not show a significant effect. Interestingly, the Open Unemployment Rate has a positive influence, which contradicts theoretical expectations, while the Regional Government Budget (APBD) has no meaningful impact. These results underscore the importance of improving human resource quality to support sustainable economic development, as well as the need to reassess investment direction and regional budget management.un

Abstract

The creative economy contributed IDR 1.53 trillion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2024, employing approximately 26.5 million people. However, the average monthly income of freelancers in East Java remained low at IDR 1.4 million in 2024, significantly below the provincial minimum wage (UMP) of IDR 2.1 million (BPS, 2025). This indicates a gap between the potential and the reality of the digital labor market. This study aims to analyze the influence of competence, social capital, market conditions, job characteristics, and digital technology on income variation among freelancers in the Millennial Job Center (MJC) program. A quantitative approach using ordinal logistic regression was applied, based on responses from 288 MJC freelancers across five administrative regions (Bakorwil) in East Java. The analysis reveals that competence and market conditions have a positive and significant effect on freelancer income, while social capital, job characteristics, and technology utilization do not show a significant impact. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening competence and improving freelancer competitiveness through training, cross-sector collaboration, and government policy support.
