Abstract

Scabies is one of the most neglected tropical diseases. Scabies is contagious and spreads quickly due to the use of shared personal items, improper prevention and control, and unhealthy environmental conditions. This condition can be prevented if the community knows the characteristics and how to prevent and control scabies. Based on these conditions, the purpose of implementing this activity is to increase the knowledge of people with scabies about how to prevent scabies. The lecture method was used to deliver health education materials on the prevention of scabies. Respondents' knowledge was evaluated by comparing the mean scores of pre-test and post-test. Based on the Wilcoxon test results, there was a significant difference between the mean pre-test and post-test knowledge scores (p-value 0.05). In the short term, health education results in a change or increase in knowledge, but if given continuously and sustainably, it will affect behavior as a medium-term impact.

Abstract

The rate of increase in new cases and the prevalence of hypertension are major health problems, both at the global, regional, and national levels. There are several causes of hypertension such as overweight/obesity, unhealthy diet, excessive sodium intake, insufficient potassium intake, insufficient physical activity, and alcohol consumption. The purpose of community service is to increase the knowledge of the Mangkubumi community about preventing hypertension by making low-salt vegetable salad. The method is carried out through providing health education and demonstrations on how to make vegetable salad. The media used are power point presentations, calendars containing information about hypertension. The results of this community service were tested using statistical tests with a dependent T test obtained p-value = 0.001, meaning that statistically there is a significant difference in knowledge between before and after health education and training were provided. Community service activities resulted in changes in the average value of respondents' knowledge of preventing and treating hypertension.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) continues to be a significant public health concern worldwide, including in Indonesia. The highest incidence of fatal cases due to dengue fever is observed among school-aged children. Consequently, the eradication of mosquito nests (PSN) is imperative to prevent dengue fever. The efficacy of the prevention program is attributable to its success in empowering the community, including educational institutions, through the establishment of jumantik cadres. The objective of this initiative is to enhance the knowledge and attitudes of jumantik cadres, specifically the "Sobat Lawan Jentik" group, in the prevention of DHF disease through mosquito nest eradication (PSN). The method employed entails the delivery of health education pertaining to dengue disease, with a particular emphasis on its prevention, and the implementation of the mosquito nest eradication program (PSN). The evaluation strategy encompassed a pre-test and post-test phase, complemented by a response questionnaire that addressed the activities undertaken. The results of this activity have succeeded in significantly increasing the knowledge of participants (p value = 0.001). This activity has been demonstrated to have a substantial impact on the attitude value of participants (p=0.001). This activity has been shown to positively influence participants' knowledge and attitudes. According to the findings of the questionnaire, the majority of the participants regarded this activity as highly beneficial.

Abstract

Abstract

Work-related stress is recognized as a global issue that affects all professions in developed and developing countries and is a major challenge to occupational safety and health. Stress is divided into two types: eustress and distress. Negative stress or distress is a reaction to stressors that manifest itself in negative psychological conditions (e.g., anger, emotions, negative thoughts). The objective of this study is to determine the association between physical work environment factors and distress among workers in the hotpressing area of a manufacturing company. This study will be conducted using a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional study design. The population and sample of this study are workers in the hotpressing area of a manufacturing company with a total of 246 respondents. The analysis of this study uses logistic regression testing. The results of the study show that there is an association between the work environment and work distress (p=0.001). Physical environmental conditions such as lighting (p=0.037), humidity (p=0.011), air circulation (p=0.005), and air quality (p=0.005) have a significant or dominant association that affects worker distress, with the variable of exposure protection conditions from hazardous materials being controlled (p=0.415). Distress caused by poor physical environmental conditions results in physiological disorders such as increased heart rate. Meanwhile, the emotional disorders caused by these conditions include workers feeling emotionally exhausted. Cognitive disorders caused by these conditions include workers finding it difficult to concentrate. Furthermore, behavioral disorders caused by these conditions include workers having difficulty sleeping and exhibiting abnormal eating behaviors. These findings serve as a reminder and input for companies that the physical environment at the workplace should not be neglected and must be controlled to ensure it is safe and comfortable for workers, as it will have an impact on their health, especially in terms of disruptive stress or distress.
