Abstract

Diarrhea is one of the main causes of illness and even death associated with waste management. This study aims to analyze the relationship of waste management with the incidence of diarrhea in the slums of District Lima Puluh of Pekanbaru City. Survey method was conducted through observation and distribution of questionnaires on 326 respondents related to education, length of stay, income, knowledge and practice of garbage collection. The data obtained was analized by logistic regression. The results of the study found that 33 outbreaks of diarrhea from 326 bigger respondents occurred in the low level of garbage collection of respondents. Characteristics of length of stay, knowledge and practice of garbage collection have a mutual influence on the occurrence of diarrhea with an influence contribution of 33.9%. Partially, only garbage collection practices have a significant effect on the occurrence of diarrhea (p <0.05; OR = 66.695) which means that respondents with poor waste collection practices have a 66.695 times chance of getting diarrhea compared to respondents with garbage collection practices good. Municipal Government of Pekanbaru City is very important to pay attention to this aspect and improve the service of garbage transportation to realize better settlement society to be able to avoid the occurrence of diarrhea incidence.

Abstract

Climate change that occurred in the Koto Panjang hydropower reservoir area was triggered by high land use change and was driven by minimal rainfall. The impact of drought occurred. The reservoir water is shrinking and other water sources are also shrinking, especially the Pongkai Istiqomah village located on the edge of the reservoir. These water sources in the form of Binamang River water and residents' well water are also shrinking. As a result, people's lives are disrupted, both in meeting the needs of clean water, bathing, washing and toilet and disrupting the economic conditions of the community. If the community's adaptability is beyond the optimal level, then the community can be said to be vulnerable. Therefore, it is important to know the level of vulnerability and adaptation strategies that can be applied. This research was conducted in July 2017 to July 2018. The research method used was a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection is done by interview and observation techniques. The interview technique was carried out on 40 (forty) respondents who were guided by a questionnaire. Analyzing the data is done by giving a score for each vulnerability criterion, namely exposure (E, exposure), sensitivity (sensitivity, S) and Adaptive Capacity (AC). The results showed that the Pongkai Istiqomah Village community had a level of vulnerability according to Heston. Y.P (2014) is included in the category of Medium Vulnerability with a score of 0.51. However, this condition cannot be underestimated, so an adaptation strategy that has been analyzed using SWOT-AHP is needed. The results are three priority strategies that have been assessed in terms of percentages namely water harvesting (43.8%), revitalization of existing tools (24.6%) and community empowerment (4.8%). To realize the  adaptation  trategy,  there needs to be  support from the Regional  Government in the  form  of policies related to village-based development planning and sustainable community capacity building.

Abstract

community needs and demands, planned, implemented (if feasible), controlled and evaluated with the community. One of the alternatives that has been proposed to solve the problem of waste in various regions in Indonesia is the garbage bank. The construction of garbage bank is the initial momentum to build collective consciousness of the community to start sorting, recycling, and utilizing garbage because garbage has good selling value, so that environmentally sound waste management becomes new culture of Indonesia. This study aims to analyze community-based waste management through waste bank programs in Pekanbaru and analyze the relationship of waste bank management to environmental, economic and social impacts. The research was conducted at garbage bank of Dalang Collection and BerlianLabuai with 142 respondents. Data collection was done by observation, interview, and questionnaire. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis techniques and product moment correlation. From the result of research, the correlation between variable X (waste bank management) and Y (environmental, economic and social impact) is 0,660, and contribution of waste bank management to environmental, economic and social impact is 43,56%. Based on the result of t test analysis obtained tcount (10,39)>ttabel (1,645). Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between waste bank management on environmental, economic and social impacts.

This development is feared will give badimpact to the quality of the waters of Riau River Estuary because it deals directly with thevarious activities which taking place in the Tanjungpinang city. This research was carriedout by the method of survey in August 2011; aims to determine the potential and thedistribution of environmental pollution in the waters of Riau River Estuary. Identification ofpollution potential is sourced from marine (marine based) such as fisheries, ship traffic andmooring boats; and from land (land based) mainly urban waste, residential, hotel andrestaurant, tourism, agriculture, industry and mining. The majority of water quality ismeasured has exceeded the quality standard limit of waters Kepmen LH RI. 51/2004 inAppendix III (for marine biota life).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to analyze the content of Pb and Zn in sea water, sediment and Cerithidea obtusa and the feasibility of consumption of C. obtusa. This study was conducted from October to December 2014 with the location of the survey is the Selat Air Hitam of Meranti Islands regency of Riau Province. The results showed that the Pb content of sea water ranges from 91.909 to 94.606 μg/l, sediment ranged from 5.125 to 5.705 μg/g and C. obtusa ranged from 6.732 to 6.784 μg/g. Zn content of sea water ranges from 400 to 445.349 μg/l, sediment ranged from 25.174 to 27.035 μg/g and C. obtusa ranged from 32.267 to 36.105 μg/g. The analysis showed that the average content of Pb and Zn in the sediment is still far below the standard value of ERL and ERM, which means not giving a real biological effect on the organism. PLI standard shows the condition of a low level of contamination that has not been necessary remedial action. The average content of Pb and Zn of C. obtusa still below the Directorate General Quality Standard of POM so it is still feasible and safe for public consumption. The PTWI value as the limit consumption of C. obtusa is 1.04 kg/70 kg body weight/week for Pb and 28.67 kg/70 kg body weight/week for Zn.

Abstract

Research was conducted in Gaung Anak Serka River Sub-Province Indragiri Hilir in Octobertill januari 2008 as a mean to know status of quality of territorial water of Gaung Anak SerkaRiver evaluated from physics and chemical parameter, and community structure ofmakrozoobenthos. The Method used of survey and intake of sampel taken twice, in each stationof sampel taken at 3 dots at random. Research station consist of; station 1 (GAS river estuary),station 2 (Teluk Pinang), station 3 (Dusun Murni), station 4 (Teluk Pantaian), Station 5 (SungaiIliran), station 6 (Teluk Sungka), station 7 (Tuasan), station 8 (Dusun Pergam), station 9(Sungai Empat) and station 10 (Rambaian). Data has taken of quality of water either throughphysics and chemical parameter and also makrozoobenthos. Data of Exsitu analysed inLaboratory Faculty of Fishery and Marine Science of Riau University. Quality of physics waterparameters (temperature, brightness, deepness, current flow) still normal in a conditionaccording to PP. 82. year 2001, except brightness for station residing in part of downstream(station 1-5) have passed normal sill. Chemical parameters (pH, DO. TSS. COD, BOD, Nitrateand Fospat) also stay in normal gyration. While, organism of Macrozoobenthos found in riverconsist of 6 set of relatives, 5 Class and 6 Ordo. Set of relatives consist of Tucideae,Chironomideae, Baetidae, Ctenodrillidae, Donacidae and Nassariidae. Class coversOligochaeta, Insecta, Polychaeta, Pelecypoda and Gastropoda. Ordo Nematoda, Doptera,Ephemerptera, Ctenodrilida, Veneridea and Neagastropoda. Types of Macrozoobenthos areTubifek sp, Sp Chironomous, Baetis Sp, Ctenodrillus Serratus and Cyclop neritea.
