Abstract

ABSTRACT The study was conducted in March 2018. Sampling was conducted in the territorial waters of Kuala Kampar Sub-district, Pelalawan District. The purpose of this research is to know the ecology of N.costata, covering environmental condition, organic matter, population density, frequency of size and relationship of organic matter content in mangrove forest of Kuala Kampar Subdistrict. The method used in this research is survey method. The sampling station is determined purposively, by considering the condition of the sampling region. Each station has 3 transects and each transect consists of 3 plots so that there are 9 stations plot. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that Kuala Kampar water environment condition is still good, the highest organic material is at station II that is 14,89% and the lowest is at station I that is 6,77%. Population density between stations and between zones in Kuala Kampar Sub-district on N. costata ranges ranges up to 4.33-8.67 ind / m2. The class-size distribution of this dominating species found in the study sites was a size class (2.1-3.0 cm). The effect of organic content of sediment with N. costata density in research area was moderate with correlation coefficient value (r) = 0,30. Keywords: Density, N. costata, Organic Sediment

Abstract

The research was conducted in December 2015-February 2016 on mangrove ecosystems in the coastal area of South part of Rupat Island, Riau Province. The aim of research was to analyze the content of biomass and carbon in mangrove ecosystems as well as the ability to store carbon in the forest area. The survey method was applied in this research and carbon analysis was carried out in the Marine Chemistry Laboratory of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science of University of Riau. The results showed that the potential mangrove biomass was directly proportional to mangrove carbon stocks. The average yield of carbon stocks of biomass and organic carbon reserves of soil amounted to 58.8 tons/ha and 920.12 tons/ha, while the average yield of total carbon stocks was 978,92 tons/ha.Keyword : Mangrove, Biomass, Carbon Stocks, Rupat Island1)

Abstract

The condition of good water quality is essential to support the survival of organisms that live in it. Determination of the status of water quality needs to be done as a reference in monitoring the water quality pollution. The purpose of this study to analyze and determine the status of water quality physically and chemically in the coastal waters Dumai. The method used in this research is survey method was conducted in December 2018 - April 2019 in the Coastal Water Dumai in Riau province. Sampling sites physical and chemical parameters determined by purposive sampling. Based on consideration of environmental conditions and Dumai City Regulation No. 11 In 2002, it was determined sampling consisted of four stations, with each station there are 5 sampling points were used as replicates. Determining the status of water quality using storet index and the index of pollution. Water quality measurement results About Coastal Dumai use Storet index and the pollution index shows that the coastal waters of Dumai categorized as Heavy Polluted waters.

Abstract

This research was conducted in March 2020 to find out the difference in planktonic diatoms abundance vertically at each station in the waters of Nareh Beach, Manggung Village, North Pariaman Sub-District, Pariaman City, West Sumatra Province. The method used is a survey method that consists of three depths at three observation stations. The water quality measured in this study were temperature, brightness, pH, salinity, current velocity, and depth. Based on the research results, there are 11 types of planktonic diatoms found in the waters of Nareh Beach, namely Gyrosigma sp., Chaetoceros sp., Odontella sp., Rhizosolenia sp., Pleurosigma sp., Thalassionema sp., Leptocylindrica sp., Coscinodiscus sp., Nitzschia sp., Guinardia sp, and Skeletonema sp. the most dominant one. The highest total value of planktonic diatom abundance ranges (9779.65-12867.96 ind/L) is found in the surface layer and the lowest ranges (2573.59-10294.37 ind/L) is at 5 m depth. There is no difference in the total value of planktonic diatom abundance between depths

Abstract

This research was conducted in December 2020 in Mengkapan Waters, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency. The aims of this research was to analyze the composition, abundance, diversity index, uniformity index, and dominance index of epipelic diatom species in the intertidal zone. The method used is a survey method and the determination of the sampling location by purposive sampling based on anthropogenic activities around the waters. The water quality measured in this study were brightness, temperature, current velocity, salinity, pH, nitrate, and phosphate. Based on the research results, there are 19 species epipelic diatoms found in Mengkapan Waters, namely Coscinodiscus sp., Navicula sp., Gyrosigma sp., Thalassiosira sp., Pleurosigma sp., Synedra sp., Pinnularia sp., Surirella sp., Nitzchia sp., Triceratium sp., Melosira sp., Skeletonema sp., Stephanodiscus sp., Oscillatoria sp., Cocconeis sp., Epithemia sp., Diadesmis sp., Cymbella sp., and Amphipleura sp. The average value of abundance ranged from 29,245.37 – 35,744.33 ind/cm2, the diversity index value ranged from 2.5909 to 2.8014, the uniformity index value ranged from 0.6736 – 0.7755, and the dominance index ranged from 0.1684 - 0.2064. Based on one-way Anova test, concluded that abundance of epipelic diatoms between each stations weren’t significant.

Abstract

Oil pollution in the waters is one of the factors that affect the abundance of phytoplankton, especially the diatom. The waters of Lalang Strait, Mengkapan Village, are used as international shipping lanes and industrial areas. The research was conducted in the Waters of Lalang Strait Mengkapan Village, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The research was conducted at 3 stations with different location characteristics. Station 1 is near Tanjung Button Port, station 2 is in the mangrove ecotourism area, and station 3 is in the fishing port and near the settlement. The result of oil content analysis obtained an average value of 0,00016 ppm. The highest oil content at station 3 is 0,00035 ppm and the lowest at station 2 is 0,00011 ppm. The results of the calculation of the abundance of planktonic diatoms ranged from 5.014 to 22.062 cells/l. The highest abundance at station 1 was 17.716 cells/l. The lowest abundance was at station 2 which was 9.694 cells/l. Simple linear regression test result, obtained equation Y= 14,2644+(-3802,27x). The coefficient of determination (R2)= 0,002 states 0,2 % of the abundance of planktonic diatoms is influenced by oil content and the rest is influenced by other environmental factors. Correlation coefficient (r) = 0,053, so the relationship of total oil content with the abundance of planktonic diatoms is very weak

Abstract

Anadara granosa is one of the bivalves that are often found in public markets. This study aimed to study the relationship between length-weight and sex ratio of blood clams (A. granosa) in the coastal waters of West Rangsang. Sampling was carried out every month at three stations. Shells were collected from a 1 x 1 m2 plot on a quadratic transect. The relationship between length and weight was analyzed by regression analysis. The sex ratio between the number of female and male blood clams in each month of sampling was calculated and followed by the Chi square test to test the similarity. The results showed that the relationship between length and weight of A. granosa was positive allometric. The sex ratio of female and male blood clams in the waters of West Rangsang is not balanced. The number of male blood clams is more than the female.

Abstract

Riau is one of the provinces in Indonesia that often experience forest and land fires. Forest and land fires cause enormous environmental, economic, and social losses and damages that even cause disruption of political relationship between countries. This study aims to determine the relationship between biophysical, socioeconomic, and policy factors in influencing the occurrence of forest and land fires in Riau Province Based on researh, it is known that there is a correlation between forest and land fires variables in Riau Province to distance from 15 variables, ie peatland, river, road, forest cover, plantation cover, plantation, settlement (built up area), dry land, Timber Forest Product Utilization License, plantation concession, other use areas, protected forest areas, production forests, conversion production forest and limited production forest.
