Abstract

Abstract¾ As a supporter of offshore supply logistics operations, crew boat moving in high speed needs the hull design that is able to reduce the resistance but the stability is still good. The innovation of hull design carried out have to consider not only in aspect of safety and comfort, but also in aspect of cargo hold capacity. Therefore, this research will analyze the change of deadrise angle to the stability, cargo hold capacity, and resistance. The shift of weight and buoyancy point caused by the change of deadrise angle is calculated by block method. The calculation of cargo hold is carried out by integration of CSA curve. The calculation of ship stability is carried out by using the Krylov I method. If the stability varied by deadrise angle does still fulfill, the next analysis is the resistance. The resistance calculation uses Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The smallest resistance is occurred with deadrise angle 16 degrees which the magnitude is 144.741 kN in speed 24 knots. The output obtained from this research is a recommendation of hull design revealing that crew boat with deadrise angle 6 degrees have an enough cargo hold to take up payload and the stability still fulfills the IMO Regulation.

Abstract

Numerical simulations have been carried out to determine free surface flow around a tanker 17.500 hull form for which experimental results are available. The SST turbulence model was used in Ansys CFX. The numerical methodology is found to be appropriate for simulating the turbulent flow around a model in order to estimate model total resistance. The computational results are presented in a non-dimensional form. By the numerical results, total resistance is calculated for the ship model and the result is satisfactory with regard to the experimental results were compared

Abstract

Urban housing renewal is one of the ways to solve housing problems such as environmental, social and economic degradation in the community. But housing problems is still found on post-renewal in social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects. This is probably happened because the local community is not holistically involved in the implementation of the development. This research uses qualitative method with purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques through interviews to the original residents of Sombo walk-up flats, stakeholder and managers of Sombo walk-up flats and also conducted by field observations. Then, the analysis is using data triangulation. The results of this study indicate that community participation is still not done holistically in which the community is less empowered after urban housing renewal is done. Therefore local communities should be empowered to realize sustainable urban housing renewal

Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to calculate and verify the viscous resistance of a remotely operated inspection submarine which is used for the purpose of underwater inspections. The focus of the study is to investigate the effect of a vertical fin on the total value of the viscous resistance. In the design of a submarine, determination of the viscous resistance plays an important role. The smaller the viscous resistance,  the smaller is the engine power to be required, which results in a more economic vehicle during the operation. Viscous resistance calculationswere done by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and verifications by wind tunnel experiments. Three models of submarines were simulated and tested. Results of data analysis show that the effect of an installation of a vertical fin on the total viscous resistance is not detectable in the current experimental setting. Furthermore, comparisons between simulation and experimental results show that the root mean square errors (RMSE) are, respectively, 2.48 x 10-3, 3.18 x 10-3 and 2.88 x 10-3 for model I, II and III.
