Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study investigated to determine the effect of problem based on practical to the students’learning outcomes and science process skill on Solubility and Solubility Product Constant materials at grade XI of Science class, MAN 2 FILIAL Pontianak. Using pre experimental and one-group pretest post-test designs, this study employed grade XI students of Science class. The data collection technique used were measurement and observation. While the instruments utilized were pre-test, post-test, and science process skill test. The results of learning outcomes analysis of pretest, post-test, and science process skill test by using Wilcoxon (SPSS 17,0 for windos) and run with an alpha level of .05 (5%) revealed that this test rejected Ho and accepted Ha (P value (0,00) < (0,05). The Effect Size (ES) of learning outcomes was 3,53 and considered high. The Z table contributed significant influence of 49,98%. Furthermore, the Solubility Product Constant indicated 2,90 and considered high, as well. The Z table contributed significant influence of 49,81%. As a result there was correlation of problem based on practical to the students’ learning outcomes and science process skill on Solubility and Solubility Product Constant materials.Keywords: learning outcomes, problem based on practical to the students’ learning outcomes, science process skill

Abstract

Basic teaching skills of Core Teaching Standards model for prospective Chemistry teachers are important in enhancing the competence as they deal with world of education. This study aimed at determining the process of teaching and learning activities as well as basic teaching skills using Core Teaching Standards among prospective chemistry in Microteaching Program 1 (PPL 1) class at Muhammadiyah University of Pontianak. Using descriptive design and quantitative approach, 16 students participated as the subjects. The techniques used in this research were direct observation and direct communication. The data collection technique included observation sheet and interview guide that covered 10 standards. They were student development, learning difference, learning environment, materials, application of materials, assessment, lesson plan, teaching strategy, professionalism in teaching, and leadership and collaboration. The study reveals that the students gained the highest score on standard 9 (professionalism in teaching) by 81,65% and was considered very good. Whereas, they hed the lowest score on standard 6 (assessment) by 58,21% and was considered fair by 58,21%.Keywords: Core Teaching Standards, basic teaching skills, Microteaching 1 (PPL 1)

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe low level of students’ learning outcomes at MAN 1 Pontianak on solubility and the result of solubility multiply was caused by lack of students’ understanding on basic concept. This research had the purpose to find out the difference between the students’ learning outcomes which were taught by using Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type of Cooperative Learning Method Assisted Question Box and the lectures teaching method assisted Question Box as well as to know the effect of TGT type of Cooperative Learning Method Assisted Question Box. This research was Quasi Experimental Control Pretest Posttest Group Design. The sampling system was simple random sampling technique. The techniques of data collection used measurement technique, observation and direct communication (interview). The result of data analysis showed that the mean score of experimental class was 73.8 which was higher compared to the mean score of control class which was 62.97. The result of statistical analysis using U-Mann whitney test with α 5% obtained 0.00 value which was smaller than α value (0.00 <0.05). It meant that there was difference between the learning outcomes in experimental and control class. The calculation result using effect size showed the value of ES 0.91 which was included in high category. It could be concluded that TGT type of Cooperative Learning Method assisted Quesion Box gave high effect on the improvement ofstudents’ learning outcomes which was 31.86 %. Abstract

This research aimed to know students’ comparison between the process skills of science using controlled inquiry and free inquiry learning X grade at MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak. This research was based on the importance of the students’ skill in the learning process of the scientific chemical to encourage students to be active in the learning process. Using quasy experimental method of nonquivalent control group design. Data collection techniques used were observation and measurement techniques. The data collecting tools were measurement and direct observation. The data analysis used were non-parametical statistic using U-Mann Whitney test and the value of the Gain. The analysis value of science process skill test class between controlled inquiry and free inquiry using U-Mann Whitney test was obtained p value (0.004 < 0.05), means there was the difference between the process skill science students’ taught with the model of controlled inquiry and the model of free inquiry. The gain value used was to find out the most effective learning model. The analysis of gain value using free inquiry (0.79 with high category) was higher than using controlled inquiry (0.69 with medium categories). It showed that the model of free inquiry more effective than controlled inquiry model to improve the process skill of science on mass constancy material X grade at MIPA SMAN 1 Pontianak.Keywords: The process skill of science, Comparison, Controlled inquiry, Free inquiry, Law of mass constancy

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed at discovering the students’ in chemistry class at grade X of SMA Negeri 1Sungai Ambawang. A qualitative descriptive method was employed in this study. As many as62 students participated as the subjects. Two techniques were used in this study. They weremeasurement and indirect communication techniques. The indirect technique used 30 testquestions and 30 items of questionnaire. The result of analysis indicated that the students who had problems in understanding the terms were 48,99 %, the students who had problem in understanding the concept were 41,32%, and the students who had problems in calculating were 70,97%. The results of the questionnaire showed that the internal factors of motivation and interest were 59,25%. This is considered as the influential factor in the students’ difficulties. While the external factor, with the average percentage of 85,4% deal with the students’ difficulties were family, facilities and infrastructures, family condition, school, teachers, learning facilities, school building, mass media, and neighborhood. This is considered as the factor that didn’t influent the students’,difficulties in chemistry class.Keywords: Analysis, learning difficulties, chemistry learning

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan bertanya dan keterampilan memberikan penguatan pada mahasiswa program studi pendidikan kimia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Desain penelitian dimulai dari perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, refleksi dan dilanjutkan dengan perencanaan siklus berikutnya. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kimia universitas muhammadiyah Pontianak. Data kualitatif dikumpulkan dengan teknik  non tes dan dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah keterampilan mahasiswa dalam mata kuliah kemampuan dasar mengajar kimia sudah mengalami peningkatan, namun perlu dilakukan proses latihan mengajar yang terencana, bertahap , sistematis dan berkelanjutan. Keterampilan dasar mengajar mahasiswa calon guru program studi pendidikan kimia pada keterampilan bertanya di siklus I memperoleh rata-rata persentase  sebesar 66,42% dan mengalami peningkatan di siklus II dengan rata-rata sebesar 80,28%. Sedangkan pada keterampilan memberikan penguatan di siklus I memperoleh rata-rata persentase  sebesar 65% dan mengalami peningkatan di siklus II dengan rata-rata sebesar 86,6%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the ability and influence of student multiple representation module before and after using the module about solubility and solubility results in class XI IPA Adisucipto Sungai Raya High School. The research method used in this study was the Pre-experimental design method and the research design used was one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study was the students of class XI IPA of Adisucipto Sungai Raya High School. Data collection techniques used in this research were measurement, observation and interview techniques. Meanwhile, data collection tools used multiple choice test questions, observation sheets and interview guidelines. Based on the results of data analysis, differences in the ability of student multiple representation were obtained the results of calculations with an average value of the representation aspect of macroscopic 75.00, microscopic 73.33, and symbolic 74.44. The effect of learning with multiple representation module was analyzed using the N-Gain formula. The results in the macroscopic aspect of 0.54, microscopic aspect of 0.68 and the symbolic aspect of 0.38 belong to the medium category.

Abstract

The background of this research was the lack of students’ learning activities in the classroom and the low of student learning outcomes in the oxidation reduction material. This research aimed to determine whether there are any differences in the activities and learning outcomes of students who were taught using modification of reciprocal teaching approach and students who were taught using the expository approach and how much the influence of modification of reciprocal teaching approach to the activities and student learning outcomes. This research used experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. Samples were selected using saturation sampling technique. Data collection techniques used were measurement, observation and direct communication techniques. Data collection tools used were learning result test, observation sheet and interview guide. Based on the results of statistical analysis using SPSS 22.0, it can be concluded that there were differences in activity and student learning outcomes students who were taught using modification of reciprocal teaching approach and expository approach. The value of effect size showed that the effect of 92.07% approach to student learning activities and 99.20% of student learning outcomes. So it can be concluded that the modification of reciprocal teaching approach can be used to improve student activity and learning outcomes.Keywords: Learning activities, Learning outcomes, Modification of Reciprocal Teaching, Redox

Abstract

This development research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students and the lack of motivation students in learning chemistry, especially on solubility and solubility result at SMAN 1 Mandor. This study aims to produce worksheets based on chemo-edutainment student on solubility and solubility result. This type of research is the development of the ADDIE Research and Development (R&D) model. The instruments used were validation sheets, questionnaire sheet for teacher and student responses and test sheets for pretest and posttest questions. The analysis shows the validity criteria obtaine by the validator 1.0 value with a very valid category. The results of the questionaire respons of primary field trial students obtained an average percentage value of 88.57 %. The efective criteria for chemo-edutainment based worksheets were seen from the pretest and posttest results of students calculated using N-gain formula, the value obtained in the main field trial is 0.85 (very high). Based on these results, it can be conculuded that the development of chemo-edutainment based student worksheets is feasible to be used as teaching material on solubility material and solubility results in class XI IPA in SMAN 1 Mandor.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Chemistry is a part of Natural Sciences, which include understanding the concept and chemical calculation. Two concepts that should be owned by the students in understanding the chemistry to make students easy to master chemistryThe purpose of this study was to determine the student’s mathematic skills of students MIPA 11 grade MAN 1 Pontianak and to determine student’s learning outcomes in terms of mathematic skills in thermochemistry subject. The research method was descriptive. Data were collected using interview techniques and measuring. The analysis showed that average student’s mathematic skill was 82.86 whitch measured at 9 mathematical skills indicators contained in thermochemistry subject. Average student’s learning outcomes in thermochemistry subject was 44.08. Analysis of student’s answer sheets showed that students already had excellent mathematical skills was 71.43%. The data showed that the student who had difficulties in learning thermochemistry, students had lowunderstanding on chemistry concepts.
