Abstract

The study aims at generating a product in the form of Volleyball learning materials CD with the valid and effective TGFU method for the junior high school students. The learning media has been developed by using the Adobe Flash CS 6 Professional. Then, within the conduct of the study, the Research and Development (R&D) Model proposed by Borg & Gall had been adopted with several modifications. Then, the results of the study show that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category according to the material expert validation with the mean score 4.38 and that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category according to the media expert validation with the mean score 4.23. Furthermore, the results of the limited experiment show that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category with the mean score 4.76. Similarly, the results of the expanded experiment show that the learning media belongs to the “Very Good” category with the mean score 4.75. In order to identify the quality and the effectiveness of the product, an operational test should be performed. The results of the operational test show that the pre-test mean score is 41.65 while the post-test mean score is 89.25. The mean score of the students has improved with the gap 47.60 points. Therefore, departing from the overall results, the TGFU method-based learning media has been valid and effective for implementation in the learning activities of Sports and Health Education for the Junior High School degree.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa baruFakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta terhadap lembagapendidikan Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta tahun ajaran2003/2004. Populasinya adalah seluruh mahasiswa baru FIK-UNY tahun ajaran 2003/2004 dari ke tiga jurusan, sebanyak 173 mahasiswa.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei dengan angket. Analisis datan secaradeskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa persepsi mahsiswabaru FIK-UNY terhadap lembaga pendidikan FIK-UNY, tinggi 14,45 %, sedang 72,83%, dan rendah 12,72 %.Kata Kunci: Persepsi, Mahasiswa Baru, Lembaga Pendidikan, FIK UNY

The elementary school students are at a stage in need of an environmentconducive for their development. Physical education can enhance cognitive abilitythrough physical activities in the learning process. Abstract

Traditional society still perceives that physical education is ineffective in shaping children’s character and that physical education is still considered as only a playing activity without having significant effects to the development of children’s social skill. This research aims to help children shape their social skills through the traditional games provided by physical education teachers with their comprehensive playing activities. The method used in this research was a qualitative approach, by doing some observations and unstructured interviews to teachers and students. The format of the game used in this research was the modification of traditional games called ‘Gobak Sodor’ which is adapted to the multilateral development of children and the theory of sports education. The result of observation and interview shows that the modified traditional games ‘Gobak Sodor’ can help children to shape their social skills, such as personal and social responsibility, teamwork, communication and the care of each other in the game. It can be concluded that the social skills of children can not be created instantly. It requires time and continuous learning process. One of the approaches which can be used in forming children’s social skills is modified traditional sport games ‘Gobak Sodor’.

Abstract

Accidents in swimming pools which involve drowning are more likely to happen in Indonesia. Cases of accidents in swimming pools might indicate that there may be lack of  responsibility among the swimmers. Therefore, there is a need to improve this condition. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Aquares model developed from Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) theory, on the students’ responsibility in swimming lessons. This study used an experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. The study population was students of grade four with a sample of 60 students taken through cluster random sampling. The Tool for Assessing Responsibility-Based Education (TARE) was the instrument used to measure personal and social responsibility. The paired sample t-test analysis showed that there is a significant impact of the Aquares model on the increase of the students’ personal and social responsibility. Aspect of the increased responsibility include: respect, participation, self-direction, caring, and role model. The Aquares model applied in this study provides a strong framework for creating a meaningful and responsible environment for learning.

Abstract

This study is aimed at knowing the social behaviors of mentally-retarded students in education learning. As a survey study, the research involves the use of interview and observation as data collection procedures. The subjects of the study are 34 mentally-retarded students. The data is analyzed in a qualitative descriptive manner. The finding shows that mentally-retarded students need intensive and continuous consultation and support for their social behaviors in the physical education learning. In order for these students to participate well in the learning-teaching interaction, it is important to show to them the practical importance and value of doing physical practice. The instructions for the physical practice tasks should be brief and clear, and there should be not more than one instruction at a time. The teacher needs to understand students characteristics and choose the appropriate learning approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk menghasilkan model aktivitas jasmani berbasis alam sekitar untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan naturalis siswa Sekolah Dasar dan (2) mengetahui efektivitas model yang dikembangkan. Penelitian pengembangan ini dilakukan dengan langkah-langkah yang meliputi: (1) pengumpulan informasi di lapangan, (2) melakukan analisis terhadap informasi yang telah dikumpulkan, (3) pengembangan produk awal (draf model), (4) validasi ahli dan revisi, (5) uji coba lapangan skala kecil dan revisi, (6) uji coba skala besar dan revisi, dan (7) pembuatan produk final. Uji coba skala kecil dilakukan terhadap siswa kelas 2 dari SD Jomblangan Banguntapan Bantul yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Uji coba skala besar dilakukan terhadap siswa kelas 1 SD Wiyoro banguntapan Bantul yang berjumlah 30 siswa dan siswa kelas 3 SD Banguntapan Bantul yang berjumlah 31 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui: (1) wawancara, (2) observasi model, dan (3) observasi keefektifan model. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu berupa model pembelajaran yang didokumentasikan dalam bentuk VCD dan dilengkapi dalam dengan buku panduan. Model aktivitas jasmani berbasis alam sekitar berisikan empat model permainan, yaitu: (1) tanggap gempa, (2) jelajah alam, (3) pilah sampah, dan (4) meniru hewan. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian dari para ahli, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa model aktivitas jasmani berbasis alam sekitar layak dan efektif digunakan untuk pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani di SD kelas bawah. Model of physical activities based on the surrounding nature to improve students’ naturalistic intelligence AbstractThis study aimed to: (1) produce a model of physical activities based on the surrounding nature to improve elementary school students’ naturalistic intelligence and (2) find out the effectiveness of the developed model. This research and development performed by steps that include: (1) collection of information in the field, (2) an analysis of the collected information, (3) preliminary product (model draft) development, (4) expert validation and revision, (5) a small-scale field tryout and revision, (6) a large-scale tryout and revision, and (7) final product making. The small-scale tryout involved Grade 2 students of SD Jomblangan, Banguntapan, Bantul, with a total of 32 students. The large-scale tryout involved Grade 1 students of SD Wiyoro, Banguntapan, Bantul, with a total of 30 students and Grade 3 students of SD Banguntapan, Bantul, with a total of 31 students. The data were collected throught: (1) an interview, (2) a model observation, and (3) a model effectiveness observation. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study are a learning the model that is documented in the form of VCD with a guidebook. The model of physical activities based on the surrounding nature consists of four models of games, namely: (1) responsiveness to earthquake, (2) exploration of nature, (3) garbage sorting, and (4) animal imitating. Based on the assessment by the experts, it can be concluded that the model of physical activities based on the surrounding nature is appropriate to be used for the physical education learning at the lower grades of the elementary school.

Abstract

Abstract: The Contributions of Problem Solving on the Improvement of Artistic Gymnastics Learning Outcomes. This study aims to improve the psychomotor skills in artistic gymnastics and cognitive skills of the students of Physical Education, Health, and Recreation (PEHR), Faculty of Sports Sciences, Yogyakarta State University in the academic year of 2008/2009 through the problem-solving learning strategy. This was an action research study involving two cycles. The subjects were the students of the non-regular PEHR program. The data were analyzed using the quantitative descriptive technique. The results showed that the learning approach to artistic gymnastics using the problem-solving learning strategy was capable of improving the psychomotor and cognitive skills indicated by the artistic gymnastics learning outcomes with a mean of 7.02. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran berbasis permainan tradisional untuk meningkatkan kemampuan motorik kasar anak tunagrahita ringan yang layak digunakan. Penelitian pengembangan ini dilakukan dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: (1) pengumpulan informasi, (2) analisis hasil informasi, (3) mengembangkan produk awal, (4) validasi ahli dan revisi, (5) uji coba skala kecil, (6) revisi, (7) uji coba skala besar, (8) revisi akhir, (9) pembuatan produk final, dan (10) diseminasi dan implementasi produk final. Uji coba skala kecil dilakukan terhadap 6 siswa tunagrahita ringan SLB Tunas Kasih 2 Turi. Uji coba skala besar dilakukan terhadap 12 siswa tuna-grahita ringan SLB ABCD Tunas Kasih Donoharjo. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menghasilkan model pembelajaran, yaitu: (1) balap sarung, (2) lempar karet, (3) dorong ban, (4) engkling, (5) pukul balon, (6) layang-layang, (7) lompat tali, dan (8) pesawat terbang. Dari hasil analisis data penilaian para ahli materi dan guru SLB, ditarik kesimpulan bahwa pengembangan model pembelajaran ini sangat baik dan efektif. Kata kunci: pengembangan, permainan tradisional, pembelajaran motorik kasar, anak tunagrahita ringan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran bolabasket melalui metode pendekatan taktik pada siswa kelas VIIIC SMP Negeri 2 Pandak Bantul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Objek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIC SMP Negeri 2 Pandak, Bantul  berjumlah 36 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui: (1) observasi hasil belajar bolabasket dengan model pendekatan taktik, (2) observasi kelas terhadap guru, (3) observasi terhadap situasi kelas, (4) observasi terhadap perilaku siswa, dan (5) tes pengetahuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran bolabasket dilakukan melalui metode pendekatan taktik pada siswa kelas VIIIC SMP Negeri 2 Pandak, Bantul ada peningkatan. Pembelajaran bolabasket dengan pendekatan taktik siswa kelas VIIIC selama 2 siklus meningkatkan keterampilan proses dalam bermain bolabasket dengan pendekatan taktik. Berdasarkan penilaian pada akhir siklus I, rata-rata nilai siswa 72,8. Pada akhir siklus II rata-rata nilai siswa meningkat menjadi 78,0, sehingga telah melampaui KKM 71. Sedangkan jumlah siswa yang tuntas saat siklus I sebanyak 17 orang (47%) ke siklus II menjadi 33 orang (96%) maka telah melampaui ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 75%. Ketuntasan klasikal dari sisi pengetahuan dapat dinyatakan sebagai berikut: hasil pretest: 16,67%, siklus I: 91,67%, dan siklus II: 100%. Rekapitulasi hasil lembar observasi perilaku siswa dalam pembelajaran pada siklus I sebesar 2,8 meningkat menjadi 3,8 pada siklus II, lembar observasi guru pada siklus I sebesar 2,9 meningkat menjadi 3,7 pada siklus II dan situasi kelas pada siklus I sebesar 2,7 meningkat menjadi 3,7 pada siklus II.  ATTEMPTS TO IMPROVE BASKETBALL LEARNING THROUGH THE TACTICS APPROACH METHOD STUDENTS OF SMPN 2 PANDAK, BANTULAbstract This study aims to improve basketball learning through the tactics approach method among Grade VIIIC students of SMP Negeri 2 Pandak Bantul. This was a classroom action research (CAR) study consisting two cycles. The research subjects were 36 Grade VIIIC students of SMP Negeri 2 Pandak, Bantul. The data were collected through: (1) observations on the basketball learning out-comes using the tactics approach method, (2) classroom observations on the teacher, (3) observations on classroom situations, (4) observations on students’ behaviors, and (5) a cognitive test. The results of the study revealed that there was an improvement in basketball learning through the tactics approach method among Grade VIIIC students of SMP Negeri 2 Pandak, Bantul. Basketball learning through the tactics approach method among Grade VIIIC in 2 cycles improved the process skills in playing basketball game with the tactics approach. Based on the assessment at the end of Cycle I, the students’ average score was 72.8. At the end of Cycle II, their average score improved to 78.0, so it was above the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC), i.e. 71. Meanwhile, the number of students who attained MMC in Cycle I was 17 (47%), and in Cycle II it became 33 (96%); this was above the class mastery, i.e. 75%. The class mastery from the cognitive aspect could be explained as follows: from the pretest results, the mastery was 16.67%, in Cycle I it was 91.67%, and in Cycle II it was 100%. The recapitulation from the observations on the students’ learning behaviors in Cycle I was 2.8, improving to 3.8 in Cycle II; that from the observations of teachers in Cycle I was 2.9, improving to 3.7 in Cycle II; and the class situation in Cycle I was 2.7, improving  to 3.7 in Cycle II.
