Abstract

This research is motivated by the demands of learning in the 21st century which requires students and prospective mathematics teachers to have critical thinking skills. In fact, many students do not understand the rules in using the data processing principle and still make many mistakes in processing the research data they conduct. This research is a Classroom Action Research was conducted in the Educational Statistics course, Mathematics Education Study Program, Tamansiswa Padang University. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that: (1) The use of the PBL model can improve the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who take the Educational Statistics course for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This can be proven through the final test with the average student score in cycle 1 of 70.77 increasing to 85 in cycle 2; (2) The use of the PBL Model can improve students' self-concept and learning activities. This can be evidenced by the percentage of student activity in cycle 1 of 66.59%, increasing to 71.02% in cycle 2.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of farmer participation in the Rice Farming Business Insurance (AUTP) program, and to determine the estimated willingness of farmers to pay the AUTP premium in Karawang Regency and the factors that influence it. The sample in this study amounted to 100 people taken from two villages from two sub-districts, namely Kutapohaci Village in Ciampel District and LemahKarya Village in Tempuran District. Farmers in Karawang Regency are willing to pay the AUTP premium. There are 44% of respondent farmers who are willing to pay the AUTP premium, the average value of the willingness to pay the AUTP premium is IDR 42,480/ha/planting season, which is greater than the value of the AUTP self-help premium set by the current government, which is IDR 36,000/ha/season planting, with a WTP value of IDR 42,480/ha/MT. Farmers hope that there will also be an increase in claim benefits to IDR 7.080.000. Based on multiple regression analysis, the factors that influence the farmer's Willingness to Pay (WTP) value on the AUTP program are the variables of education, land area, land status and income (at the real level). 5 percent). Meanwhile, based on the results of the logit analysis, it is known that the factors that can increase the chances of farmers participating in the AUTP program independently by paying the AUTP premium are the WTP value and income.

Abstract

Fasilitas pendukung dalam proses pembelajaran matematika di SMA N 1 Ranah Pesisir adalah buku paket. Buku paket yang digunakan masih kurang bervariasi sehingga peserta didik malas membaca dan memahami buku paket yang mereka miliki serta siswa hanya terpaku pada soal-soal yang ada pada buku paket. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangan modul berbasis Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematic yang valid untuk pembelajaran matematika pada fase E.1 SMAN 1 Ranah Pesisir. Produk yang diharapkan dalam penelitian pengembangan ini adalah modul pembelajaran matematika kurikulum merdeka berbasis pendekatan STEM. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan yang menghasilkan suatu produk berupa modul pembelajaran. Model pengembangan pembelajaran model Plomp terdapat 4 fase, fase investigasi awal, fase desain, fase realisasi/konstruksi, dan fase tes, evaluasi dan revisi, Subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa fase E di SMAN 1 Ranah Pesisir. Validasi perangkat pembelajaran dilakukan oleh ahli pendidikan matematika dan ahli pendidikan bahasa Indonesia. Hasil validasi modul pembelajaran secara keseluruhan sangat valid dengan tingkat keberhasilan sebesar 86,45%. sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan modul pembelajaran berbasis Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematic (STEM) dapat digunakan sebagai modul pembelajaran di Sekolah.

Abstract

Based on initial observations and interviews conducted by the author with mathematics teachers and students of SMP Negeri 05 X Koto Singkarak, it was found that there is a lack of student interest in learning mathematics. Students find it difficult to understand mathematical concepts, which leads to a lack of motivation to engage in mathematics lessons. The learning process is still dominated by the teacher, with students simply receiving material from the teacher and then taking notes. This is further exacerbated by the students' lack of interest in doing exercises and homework. This type of research is experimental. The population of this study consists of 8th-grade students of SMP Negeri 05 X Koto Singkarak for the 2024/2025 academic year, which includes two classes. The sampling technique used is random sampling. The instruments used in this study are observation sheets related to the Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) learning model and a learning achievement test. Based on the results of the research, after hypothesis testing and normality tests, the data analysis revealed that both sample classes were normally distributed and homogeneous at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results of the hypothesis test showed that t_calculated = 1.84 and t_table = 1.69, so t_calculated > t_table, meaning the hypothesis in this study is accepted. It can be concluded that: The mathematics learning outcomes of students using the Aptitude Treatment Interaction approach are better than the learning outcomes of students taught through conventional methods at the 8th-grade level of SMP Negeri 05 X Koto Singkarak for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini mengatasi tantangan yang dihadapi oleh siswa di SMA PMT Prof. DR. Hamka Padang dalam memahami geometri, khususnya konsep transformasi, karena metode pengajaran konvensional. Solusi yang diusulkan dan diimplementasikan adalah memberikan pelatihan tentang penggunaan aplikasi GeoGebra untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan pemahaman siswa dalam matematika, khususnya geometri. GeoGebra, perangkat lunak geometri dinamis, membantu memvisualisasikan konsep matematika yang abstrak, menjadikannya lebih konkret. Kegiatan ini yang dilakukan pada minggu kedua di bulan Januari 2025 , dengan siswa Kelas XI, melibatkan demonstrasi penggunaan GeoGebra dalam berbagai transformasi geometri seperti translasi, refleksi, rotasi, dan dilatasi. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan antusiasme siswa dan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang konsep transformasi geometri. Kepala sekolah dan guru matematika juga menyatakan umpan balik positif dan motivasi untuk menerapkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna

Abstract

Teaching materials in schools, such as textbooks and regular Student Worksheets (LKPD), typically only contain summaries of the material and questions, and still lack steps for a learning model. This results in students being less active in the learning process. This study aims to assess the practicality of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on the Predict Observe Explain (POE) model in mathematics learning. The Predict Observe Explain learning model helps students understand and discover concepts by providing steps that encourage students to express their ideas. The development model used in this study is Research & Development (R&D). The stages of this model include: 1) potential and problems, 2) information gathering, 3) product design, 4) product validation, 5) product revision, and 6) product testing. The population in this study consisted of 20 students from Grade XI at Ekasakti High School, Padang, for the academic year 2024/2025. The results of the study indicate that the practicality of the LKPD was rated as very practical, based on the practicality assessment from both teachers and students. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Student Worksheet (LKPD) based on the Predict Observe Explain (POE) model is feasible and practical for students to use in mathematics learning, specifically in the topic of matrices.

Abstract

This volunteer study was conducted due to the lack of students’ motivation in learning mathematics at SMKN 2 of Padang. The study was aimed to helped students become motivated in learning mathematics. Learning motivation was provided to the students and followed by Sudoku game to sharpen their thinking ability. For the students who can do it fastest and correctly are given reward. By doing this activities, the students seem to be motivated and carious in learning the subject. The activity is relevant to the finding of some studies conducted in advance concerning with motivation in learning mathematics.
