Abstract

This paper addresses the Universitas Terbuka (UT) students perception on quality assurance (QA) system of distance education, using an online survey method involving 306 students. The UT students perception on QA system is analyzed in terms of profile of respondents, perception on important values of QA, students satisfaction on the quality of the distance education programs and courses. The profile of the respondents shows that most of them are within the age of 25 to 30 years old. They study at UT mostly by means of reading printed materials and interactive online studies at home and at no particular place in the evenings. Students difficulties in distance related to conflicts with work responsibilities, lack of time and self motivation. Students said that they needed both academic and social psychological support. Students perception on important values in QA was expressed in terms of the availability and clear guidelines for QA system in the institution. In terms of institutional credibility, students stated that external accreditation and qualified staff are key factors to institutional quality. In terms of learning process, students valued highly the importance of well structured courses and interactivity in the learning process. Students also stated that media technology supports, faculty support, and fair assessment are important in the quality of teaching learning at a distance. In terms of learning experience, they perceived that protection of student rights, course content, and technology infrastructure were well facilitated by the institution. Makalah ini membahas persepsi mahasiswa Universitas Terbuka (UT) terhadap sistem penjaminan mutu (QA) pendidikan jarak jauh, dengan menggunakan metode survei online yang melibatkan 306 siswa. Persepsi mahasiswa dianalisis berdasarkan profil responden, persepsi pada nilai-nilai penting dari QA, kepuasan pada kualitas program pendidikan jarak jauh. Profil responden menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar dari mereka berusia 25 sampai 30 tahun. Mereka belajar di UT sebagian besar dengan cara membaca materi cetak dan interaksi online di rumah dan di tempat lainnya pada malam hari. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mahasiswa terkait pada konflik dengan tanggung jawab pekerjaan, kurangnya waktu dan motivasi diri. Mereka membutuhkan dukungan secara psikologi, akademik, dan sosial. Persepsi mahasiswa pada nilai-nilai penting dalam QA diekspresikan dalam hal ketersediaan pedoman yang jelas untuk sistem QA yang berlaku. Dalam hal kredibilitas kelembagaan, mahasiswa menyatakan bahwa akreditasi eksternal dan staf yang berkualitas merupakan faktor kunci untuk kualitas kelembagaan. Dalam hal proses pembelajaran, mahasiswa menilai sangat pentingnya program terstruktur dan interaktifitas dalam proses belajar. Mahasiswa juga menyatakan bahwa dukungan media teknologi, fakultas, dan penilaian yang adil adalah penting dalam kualitas belajar mengajar secara jarak jauh. Dalam hal pengalaman belajar, mereka memandang bahwa perlindungan hak-hak siswa, materi matakuliah, dan infrastruktur teknologi telah difasilitasi dengan baik oleh lembaga.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menganalisis pengaruh perhatian orang tua terhadap capaian kompetensi kognitif siswa SD kelas rendah pada masa belajar dari rumah di Kecamatan Parakan, (2) menganalisis pengaruh motivasi belajar terhadap capaian kompetensi kognitif siswa SD kelas rendah pada masa belajar dari rumah di Kecamatan Parakan, dan (3) menganalisis secara bersama-sama seberapa besar pengaruh perhatian orang tua dan motivasi belajar terhadap capaian kompetensi kognitif siswa SD kelas rendah pada masa belajar dari rumah di Kecamatan Parakan. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua orang tua siswa kelas II pada Gugus Sudirman yang berjumlah 245 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner (angket), dokumentasi, wawancara dan tes. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji validitas dan reliabilitas dan analisis deskriptif statistik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) perhatian orang tua secara parsial berpengaruh terhadap capaian kompetensi kognitif siswa SD kelas rendah pada masa belajar dari rumah, (2) motivasi belajar secara parsial berpengaruh terhadap capaian kompetensi kognitif siswa SD kelas rendah pada masa belajar dari rumah, dan (3) perhatian orang tua dan motivasi belajar secara bersama-sama berpengaruh terhadap capaian kompetensi kognitif siswa SD kelas rendah pada masa belajar dari rumah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menganalisis pengaruh supervisi kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Kedu, Kabupaten Temanggung, dan (2) menganalisis pengaruh motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja guru sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Kedu, Kabupaten Temanggung,. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh guru SD di Kecamatan Kedu Kabupaten Temanggung. Jumlah guru SD se-Kecamatan Kedu adalah 240 orang yang tersebar dalam 26 Sekolah Dasar. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 150 orang SD se-Kecamatan Kedu. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner (angket). Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisa regresi ganda dengan tiga predictor. Dan uji analisis yang digunakan terdiri dari uji prasyarat dan uji hipotesis.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) supervisi Kepala Sekolah berpengaruh terhadap Kinerja Guru, (2) motivasi kerja berpengaruh terhadap Kinerja Guru, dan (3) Supervisi Kepala Sekolah dan Motivasi Kerja berpengaruh secara simultan dibuktikan dengan nilai Fhitung > Ftabel (29,279 > 3,058) yang berarti bahwa variabel Supervisi Kepala Sekolah dan Motivasi Kerja berpengaruh simultan (bersama-sama) terhadap variabel Kinerja Guru.

Abstract

Universitas Terbuka (UT) telah berfungsi sejak 1984 untuk memperluas kesempatan belajar bagi seluruh warga negara Indonesia dari berbagai lapisan guna menempuh pendidikan tinggi berkualitas. Makalah ini menyajikan aspek operasional pendidikan terbuka dan jarak jauh beserta sistem penjaminan kualitas UT. Deskripsi dan analisis tentang UT disampaikan dalam hal sistem pembelajaran, asesmen pembelajaran, dan sistem pendukung layanan operasional. Beragam layanan pendukung pembelajaran diberikan sesuai kebutuhan mahasiswa meliputi pembelajaran jarak jauh dengan tutorial online, pembelajaran jarak jauh blended dengan tutorial tatap muka dan online, pembelajaran jarak jauh dengan semua matakuliah didukung tutorial tatap muka, dan pembelajaran fully online. Sistem penjaminan kualitas UT meliputi pengembangan budaya kerja berkualitas sebagai tanggung jawab bersama, fokus pada pencegahan, dan pengembangan mekanisme asesmen kualitas secara internal dan eksternal. UT telah mengadopsi Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Quality Assurance Framework sejak tahun 2001. Asesmen dan review kualitas secara eksternal telah dilakukan melalui sertifikasi ISO 9001 dan ISO 27001, akreditasi Program Studi dan Institusi oleh Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT), dan review kualitas oleh International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE). Arah ke depan UT sebagaimana dinyatakan oleh Menteri Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi 2014-2015 adalah tantangan UT sebagai pelopor cyber university di Indonesia serta menyediakan matakuliah online bagi mahasiswa dari perguruan tinggi di Indonesia lain agar memiliki pengalaman pembelajaran online. Universitas Terbuka (UT) has been functioning since 1984 to widen opportunities for the citizens of Indonesia from all geographical, social and economic backgrounds to have access to quality higher education. This paper presents the UT operational aspects of open and distance learning and its quality assurance system. The description and analysis of UT is presented in terms of teaching and learning system, assessment of student learning, and operational support system. The UT modes of learning support to students are provided based on the students’ needs to include distance learning with online tutorials, blended distance learning with face-to-face and online tutorials, distance learning with all courses supported by face-to-face tutorials, and fully online learning courses. Quality assurance is discussed in terms of the development of quality work culture as shared responsibility, focus on prevention, and the establishment of mechanism for internal and external assessment. UT has adopted the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Quality Assurance Framework since 2001. External quality assessment includes certification for ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, Study Program and Institution accreditations by the National Board of Higher Education Accreditation (BAN-PT), and quality reviews by the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE). Future directions of UT as stated by the former Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education was to be pioneer in cyber university and to provide online courses for students from other universities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic had affected all segments of life, including education. Education which so far carried out face-to face has now been implemented virtually. The online learning model raises various problems, such as decreased motivation and students’ learning outcomes.Those problem can be solved by using distance learning technology, such as Google Meet. This study aims at determining the difference in motivation and students’ learning outcomes as well as testing the effectiveness of learning in the experimental class compared to the control one. This study was carried out with a quasi-experiment. The experiment class uses Google Meet, while the other uses WhatsApp. The population of this study was all students of Cepokjajar 2 Elementary School with a total of 294 students, while the sample was class 5A and 5B with 29 students on each other. The data analyzed by the Independent T-test to find the difference beetwen the experimental class and the control one, and the N-gain Score to determine the effectiveness of each class in developing students’ motivation and learning outcomes. The Independent T-test result shows that: 1) there are differences in learning motivation between the experimental and control class with the significance value of 0.009 < 0.05; 2) there are differences in learning outcomes between the experimental and control class with the significance value of 0.005 < 0.05; 3) learning in experimental class is more effective in increasing students’ motivation and learning outcomes than in control one.

Abstract

Teacher performance is an important factor in the implementation of learning which is an indicator of the achievement of learning objectives. The better teacher performance will have a good impact on the achievements in the learning process. Achieving maximum teacher performance is influenced by various factors. As a member of an organization, namely a school, teacher performance is influenced by leadership style, work motivation and work environment. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence between leadership style, work motivation and environment on the performance of teachers in public elementary schools in Tebing Tinggi Timur District, Kepuluaan Meranti Regency. This research is a quantitative study with a survey research method approach. The population in this study consisted of 12 schools with a total sample size of 57 people. The data analysis technique in this study uses path analysis techniques, data processing involves the SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) application. The pattern of influence between these four variables is expressed by the regression equation Ẑ=-9.862+0.402X1+0.384X2+0.393X3 which provides information that the constant of -9.862 states that if there is no increase in the value of the leadership style variable (X1) work motivation (X2) and work environment (X3) then the value of teacher performance (Z) is -9.862. The multiple regression coefficient of 0.402; 0.384 and 0.393 states that each addition of one score of leadership style, work motivation and work environment will provide an increase in value of 0.280; 0.324 and 0.464 in teacher performance. Abstract

This study aims to measure the effect of Learning Media and Learning Independence on the Narrative Writing Ability of Grade V Students in Gugus II, Cempaka Putih District. The experimental method was used with a target population of 261 students. The sample consisted of 43 students who were given Animated Film Learning Media, divided into 22 students of high learning independence and 21 students of low learning independence, and 43 students who were given Film Learning Media, divided into 22 students of high learning independence and 21 students of low learning independence. The results showed that Narrative Writing Ability was higher in the group given Animated Film Learning Media than in Film Learning Media (Fhitung = 13.018 > Ftabel = 3.96). Narrative Writing Ability is also higher in students with high independence than low independence (Fcount = 11.922 > Ftable = 3.96). There is an interaction between learning media and independence in students' narrative writing ability (Fcount = 61.052 > Ftable = 3.96). This research can potentially improve narrative writing learning in Class V elementary schools in Gugus II Cempaka Putih District

Abstract

This study has the main objective to examine the correlation between vocabulary acquisition and environmental utilization with the writing skills of elementary school students. Using a quantitative approach with a survey method and correlation technique, this study answers three key hypotheses. First, the results indicated a significant positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and descriptive essay writing skills, with a correlation value (rcount) of 0.823, which far exceeded the significance threshold (rtable) of 0.195. Secondly, the study also found a positive relationship between the utilization of the environment as a learning resource and descriptive essay writing skills, with an rcount of 0.632 which significantly exceeds the rtabel. Finally, when analyzed together, vocabulary acquisition and environmental utilization strongly influence students' writing skills, indicated by a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.834 and a coefficient of determination of 0.695. This result illustrates that about 69.5% of the variability in descriptive essay writing skills can be explained by the combination of vocabulary acquisition and utilization of the environment as a learning resource. These findings underscore the importance of considering these two factors in educational planning to improve students' writing skills at the primary school level.

Abstract

This paper reports the outcomes of a ‘Community Service’ activity related to the integration of technology in English language teaching in Indonesia in the 21st century. The activity was conducted for junior high school English language teachers in Depok District, Indonesia. It outlines the opportunities and challenges faced by teachers in incorporating technology into their teaching and learning processes. Key themes emerging from the activity, include enhancing English language proficiency, increasing engagement and motivation, developing 21st-century skills, cultural exchange and global awareness, as well as the role of teachers and professional development. However, the effectiveness of technology integration heavily relies on the teachers' proficiency, availability of infrastructure, and pedagogical adaptation. The findings of the activity highlight the importance of comprehensive teacher training programs, improvements in educational infrastructure, and a pedagogical shift towards a curriculum more inclusive of technology. Recommendations include enhancing collaboration among stakeholders to support a technology-enriched learning environment to meet the evolving needs of learners in Indonesia.
