Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a positive and significant relationship between: 1) Parents' educational background on students' learning achievement in English, 2) Giving motivation to students' learning achievement in English, 3) Parents' educational background, giving Motivation towards student achievement in English. This case study research was conducted at Junior High School 1 Sungai Aur. The total population is all students of class VIII Junior High school 1 Sungai Aur as many as 204 people, the number of samples is 32 people. To find out whether there is a positive and significant relationship with the educational background of parents, presenting learning motivation with student achievement is used product-moment correlation analysis technique. From the results of the normality test, it is known that the data variables in the educational background of parents are normally distributed. To test the second hypothesis used product-moment correlation analysis. And to test the third hypothesis used multiple regression analysis techniques. The results showed that: 1) There was a positive and significant relationship between parents' educational background and student achievement.” The results of the correlation coefficient (rx1y) show that rcount is greater than rtable (0.396 > 0.349), 2) There is no positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and student achievement. The results of the correlation coefficient (rx1y) show that rcount is smaller than rtable (0.157 < 0.349), so there is no significant relationship, 3) There is no positive and significant relationship between parents' educational background, presenting learning motivation together with achievement student learning in English. The results based on the test obtained the F value of 3.771 and the significance of Fcount of 0.035. When compared with the Ftable value of 3.33, the Fcount > Ftable (3,771 > 3.33) and the significance value of Fcount less than 0.05 (0.035 < 0.05).

Abstract

: Blended learning method is increasingly recognized, especially after being used as an alternative learning method during the past Covid-19 pandemic. There is a belief that this method also suits learning in other special conditions, such as natural disasters, distance learning, or other conditions that do not allow fully face-to-face learning to be implemented. Moreover, the involvement of technology in blended learning makes this method more appealing for anyone to apply it in modern learning. Given the promising uses of blended learning, all findings regarding its implementation become important. The implementation certainly has impacts on students as the centre of learning. Therefore, it is also important to consider various aspects related to students, including their perceptions and motivations in learning by linking them to their learning achievements. This study investigates the correlation between students' perceptions on blended learning implemented in English teaching at SMAN 1 Sukaresmi, students' motivations in learning English and students' achievements in English subject. The participants of this study are 237 XI grade students of SMAN 1 Sukaresmi. This study employs a questionnaire adapted from the model of Birbal et al. and Gardner's Attitude/Motivation Test Battery, and IBM SPSS Statistics 27 to process the data. The findings confirm that there is a significant and positive correlation between students' perceptions on blended learning implemented and students' achievements in English subject, between students' motivations in learning English and students' achievements in English subjects, and between students' perceptions on blended learning implemented and students' motivations in learning English. Students' perceptions on blended learning implemented in English teaching at SMAN 1 Sukaresmi and students' motivations in learning English simultaneously have a 21.1% influence on students' achievements in English subject. Given the magnitude of the influence exerted, students' perceptions on blended learning and students' learning motivations need to be maintained.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the PjBL model with folklore nuances to improve students' writing skills and self-confidence and to analyze the effect of self-confidence on students' writing skills in grade V. Currently, PISA shows that the ability of Indonesian students to solve PISA questions is still far above average value. For example, in PISA 2015, the performance of Indonesian students was still relatively low. Successively the average achievement scores of Indonesian students for reading, mathematics, and science are ranked 61st, 63rd, and 62nd out of 69 countries. The method used is a comparative method with a quantitative approach. The population of this study consisted of grade 5 elementary school students from the Ahmad Yani cluster in Adiwerna District, Tegal Regency, in the 2022/2023 school year, consisting of 10 elementary schools with a total of 375 students. The research sample consisted of 30 students from SDN Kaliwadas 01 and SDN Kaliwadas 02. The sample was selected using cluster random sampling. The two schools are located side by side. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The data sources used were primary and secondary. Primary data was obtained from the results of questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Secondary data was obtained through official releases or publications, including data used as literature such as books and reports. For data analysis techniques used are prerequisite analysis tests, namely normality test and homogeneity test, while hypothesis testing with t-test and simple regression test. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that there is an increase in the writing skills of fifth-grade students of SDN Kaliwadas 01 and SDN Kaliwadas 02 after using the folklore-based Project Base Learning (PjBL) method. In addition, PjBL, with the theme of folklore, also increases students' self-confidence, where folklore has high character education values, one of which is the character of self-confidence. Based on the research, it can be concluded that there is an increase in writing skills of 5th-grade students of SDN Kaliwadas 01 and SDN Kaliwadas 02 after the use of the Project Base Learning (PjBL) method based on folklore. In addition, PjBL, with the theme of folklore, also increases students' self-confidence, where folklore has high character education values, one of which is the character of self-confidence.

Abstract

The state of Indonesia has a writing skill level of about 84% of the total population, but only 12 books are published for one million Indonesians per year, which ranks 60 below Thailand out of 61 countries in the overall world ranking. Purbalingga Regency itself, on the portal page of the Communication and Informatics Service, stated that around 4% or 6000 people in Purbalingga cannot read and write. The illiterate community places Purbalingga in 26th out of 35 districts in Central Java. Students at the time of learning to write narratives still tend to be passive, and less focused, even teachers still useless interesting methods. The teaching and learning process has not used appropriate techniques, methods, and learning models. Based on the results of interviews with 15 students in the Sultan Agung cluster, Karanganyar district, it was found that out of 20 students, 15 children liked comics. The research objective is to develop and produce narrative writing instructional media for elementary school students. The research method is interview, observation, and document with 3 stages: preliminary study, model development, dan model test. The results showed that the condition of learning narrative writing skills for elementary school students was still not optimal and based on the t-test the use of photo comic media products proved effective to improve the narrative writing skills of fifth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This research project investigated the use of DI by teachers and confirmed their practices to learn more about teachers' perceptions using a qualitative approach. Four research instruments were used to collect data in this investigation: document analyses, classroom observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Document analyses and classroom observations were employed to obtain data concerning teachers' actual practices of DI. In the meantime, a questionnaire has been used to obtain data on teachers' perceptions and practices regarding DI. Finally, interviews have also been conducted to determine teachers' perceptions of DI. The result of the study revealed that the participants exhibited high proficiency in using DI strategies in their classrooms. The assessment considered various dimensions, including understanding DI concepts and objectives, adapting instruction to diverse student needs, evaluating students through diagnostic assessments, and aligning teaching strategies with individual learning profiles. However, there was room for improvement, especially in tailoring instruction based on diverse learning profiles. Furthermore, the English teachers' perceptions of DI significantly shaped their instructional practices. While there was a solid theoretical understanding and commitment to personalized instruction, practical challenges and systemic constraints impacted the seamless integration of DI principles. The teachers' commitment to addressing these challenges, demonstrated through varied instructional practices, underscored the dynamic interplay between perceptions and the complex reality of implementing DI in the classroom.
