The objective of this research is to find out whether or not song lyric media increase students’ listening skill. This research is a pre-experimental design with one class experimental. The researchers choose class 7A as the sample which consists of 26 students, 11 male and 15 females. The researchers use purposive sampling technique because from the class has the most active students in daring class. The pre-test and post-test consist of 30 numbers contains 20 words to translate and 10 words to match meaning that represent noun, adjective and verb. The results of pretest show that the mean score of pre-tests is 44.19 with standard deviation 11.35 and standard error 2.23. There are also 2 students classified into fairly category,3 students classified into poor category, 21 students classified into very poor category. The classification shows that students still have lack of vocabularies, because they are still beginner in learning English. In contrast, the results of posttest show that the mean score of 26 students in post-test is 82.04 with standard deviation 6.71 and standard error 1.32. There are 5 students classified into very good category, 19 students classified into good category, and 2 students classified into fairly category. In addition, the t-test value is higher than t-table value (27.474>2.059). It means that the nursery rhyme videos increase students’ vocabulary mastery.

This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the use of google meet in micro-teaching. The researcher applied mixed quantitative and qualitative methods. to achieve the purpose of the study, the data was collected in the form of a Likert questionnaire, and interview. The subjects of this study were students of the Makassar State University, particularly in the English Education Department academic 2022/2023. The sample of the questionnaire is 30 students and Interviews of 10 students were taken using the voluntary sampling technique/non-probability sampling technique. The results of data analysis show that (1) positive student perceptions of the use of Google meet application in micro-teaching with the classification, 7(23%) students classified Strongly positive, 12 (40%) students classified Positive, 9 (9%) students are classified as Medium, 2 (2%) students are classified as Negative and not there are students who are classified as strongly negative. (2) Student explanations in interviews regarding the perception of using google meet explained that google meet is a good and interesting online learning tool, and has good features that really support micro teaching-learning in this pandemic era. Even though there is a pandemic, students can still learn micro-teaching through google meet because in google meet learning students and lecturers can still interact and discuss well like in an offline class.

The aims of this research are to find out the teacher’s challenges in teaching English and the student‟s challenges in learning English at junior high school during pandemic dealing with learning English online. This research uses qualitative method. The data of this research were collected through questionnaire and interview. The subjects of this research were the teacher who teaches at second grade and the second-grade students at SMP PGRI BAREMBENG that was consisted 30 students which were taken by using random sampling. The result of data analysis found that (1) there are some challenges faced by the teacher in teaching English online at second grade students including, student‟s interest and enthusiasm in learning English online, difficulty in using ICT, difficulty in providing and explaining learning material, difficulty in measuring student‟s improvement and achievement and assessing student‟s work, (2) there are some challenges faced by the students at second grade including less enthusiastic (student‟s interests and motivation), difficulty in the learning process, and the lack of internet package and internet network.

This investigation was aiming to find out how students utilize Free Online Machine Translation (FOMT), and the reasons understudies utilize FOMT as a language-learning tool in perusing the scholarly article. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative research. These inquiries were conducted within the apprentice level of English learners. The members of this survey were 10 students. All of them were selected for the purpose of research. The observation took notes and video records were used to figure out who was using FOMT while reading the scholarly paper. Meanwhile, the interview section was presented with details about the reasons for students introducing the FOMT. The results of this study have shown that the participants employ FOMT as a reading tool in a number of different ways for the period of reading the scholarly paper. These approaches were divided into three parts; first, a word-to-word translation was used by six participants; second, a sentence-to-sentence translation was completed by six participants. Then, what is the frequency used by participants while assessing the FOMT types. In addition, there have been numerous reasons for participants using FOMT to support comprehension of the scholarly paper

Vocabulary data plays an important role in mastering a language. This research is experimental research. The research sample was 60 students. The information collection instrument used was a questionnaire. The information analysis technique used statistical knowledge analysis Paired Sample T-Test. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in students' vocabulary data between students who are taught using the Electronic Dictionary (ED) and those who are taught using the Printed Dictionary (PD).

This research is about the use of the Text Twist game to teach vocabulary to the tenth-grade students of SMAN 8 Selayar. The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of Text Twist games improves vocabulary mastery of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 8 Selayar. The research design used in this research is a pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample was from class X MIA 1 which consists of 25 students and a cluster random sampling technique was used for the data selection. In obtaining the data, the researchers used the test as an instrument. The researchers analyzed the data quantitatively by using inferential statistics SPSS 26. The results of the data analysis showed that by using the Text Twist game, students' vocabulary mastery improved. It can be proven by the acquisition of significance value (2- tailed) which was 0.000 (0.000 < 0.05). It means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So, it can be concluded that the use of the Text Twist Game improves students' vocabulary among the tenth-grade students of SMAN 8 Selayar.

The aim of this study is to find out the difficulties faced by students in listening. This research used a descriptive research method and was conducted at a senior high school in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi. Thirty-one students from the eleventh grade were selected as research subjects through a random sampling technique. The data was obtained from a questionnaire and an interview. The results obtained from the data analysis is the difficulties that students face when doing listening comprehension are; lack of vocabulary, students' interest in English, pronunciation, lack of concentration, accent, speaker talks too fast, topic changing, and they don't trust themselves.

The aims of this study are to determine the vocabulary mastery and the ability to translate of junior high school students in Pangkep also whether vocabulary knowledge and translation competence are linked. This study employed a quantitative approach. This article only contains the third research question. The data of this research was collected through a test. Cluster stratified random sampling was used to obtain the sample. In this study, 108 seventh-grade students in Pangkep were recruited from three accredited schools: SMP 1 Pangkajene, SMP 3 Bungoro, and SMP 5 Bungoro. The Pearson correlation results for vocabulary mastery and translation ability at A certified schools are 0.653, which is in the range of 0.61-0.80, indicating a high correlation. Pearson correlation -0.595 which is in the interval 0.41-0.60 for accredited B schools so that the correlation is obtained, and 0.112 which is in the interval 0.00-0.20 for accredited schools so that no correlation is found.

A semantic figure is another term from figurative language which is the use of word that diverges from its normal meaning or a phrase that stylistic with a specialized meaning not based on the literal meaning of the words in it. The objectives of this study are examined two cases; (1) semantic figures in the poems of Maya Angelou; (2) moral value and its meaning of the poems. This study using descriptive qualitative method because post positivism form is used in this study. From this perspective, this study is seen as theoretical, in which results in a substantive formation based on conceptualizations on possible variation to compose, develop and reconstruct theory. There are two poems of Maya Angelou in this study as the samples; (1) On the Pulse of Morning; (2) Still I Rise. The results of this study indicated that there were many semantic figures implied. There were oppression and persecution meanings based on 2 poems. This study is proved that semantic figures and the meanings which are implied from 2 poems have important roles in convey moral value or message and idea to the reader and can be used as a guidance in our lives. The implication of this study is that the authors believe that this study is going to help the reader to understand what the semantic figures mean is, they also will know the meanings of the Maya Angelou’s poems collection.

This research aims to discover whether applying Islamic videos on YouTube might increase junior high school students' English vocabulary mastery. This research used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design and a questionnaire. The study population was 40 grade 8 students at SMP IT Nurul Fikri Makassar, South Sulawesi, in the 2021–2022 academic year. The respondents were recruited using a random sampling technique. The research instruments were a vocabulary test administered as a post-test and a pre-test, and a questionnaire. In analyzing the data, descriptive statistics was used. The post-test mean score was 84.5455; which shows that the post-test mean score was more significant than the pre-test mean score (68.6364). Of the percentage of students’ perceptions while using Islamic videos on YouTube, 85% answered yes, and only 15% answered no. Furthermore, the value of this study (0.001) was lower than the alpha level (0.05). These mean that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Consequently, Islamic videos on YouTube could be used as medium to improve the students' English vocabulary mastery in grade 8 of SMP IT Nurul Fikri Makassar.
