Abstract

The home-based bag industry is one of the growing creative sectors, driven by rising demand for functional and aesthetic products. This study aims to improve product quality in a home-based bag business using an integrated approach combining Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Seven tools. Conducted at X’s Bag Industry in Tanggulangin, Sidoarjo, the research began with collecting customer needs via a questionnaire based on Garvin’s eight quality dimensions. Data were tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using the House of Quality (HoQ) to determine key technical attributes. The top priorities identified were raw material selection, stitching quality control, and product design, with the highest priority weight reaching 43.25. Quality issues were further examined using Seven tools, check sheets, histograms, Pareto and fishbone diagrams, revealing that 81.4% of total defects originated from just three main causes. Using the 5W+1H approach, practical improvement strategies were proposed. The study confirms that integrating QFD and Seven tools is effective for enhancing product quality in home industries. Abstract

The vegetable creamer-based food industry produces a large amount of waste that has not been optimally utilized, reaching more than 1.4 tons per month and accumulating up to 17 tons in a period of 10 months. Disposal of this waste also requires considerable costs, so a more sustainable alternative utilization is needed. This study aims to assess the effect of applying vegetable waste creamer solution as liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of mustard greens (Brassica rapa var. Parachinensis L.). The treatments used consisted of four solution compositions: 0% (control), 10%, 30%, and 50%. Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, and plant wet weight. The results showed that the treatment with 10% concentration gave the most optimal results on plant height and wet weight, while the highest number of leaves was obtained from the 0% treatment. High concentrations (30% and 50%) actually inhibited growth and caused plant death. These results indicate that waste creamer has potential as a liquid organic fertilizer if used in the right composition.   Keyword: Vegetable Creamer, Industrial Waste, Organic Fertilizer

Abstract

The increasing volume of plastic waste requires innovative solutions that integrate technology with sustainable economic incentives. This study presents the development and evaluation of the ECO-PAY system, an automated plastic bottle waste management system that combines YOLOv8n-based object detection with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) user identification to support circular economy implementation. The system was designed to identify recyclable plastic bottles in real time, authenticate users, and allocate reward points automatically for each valid disposal transaction. Experimental results show that the YOLOv8n model achieved a maximum confidence score of 93.78% with an average detection accuracy of 72.18% in detecting plastic bottles. System performance testing demonstrated stable real-time operation with a frame rate ranging from 6.58 to 14.91 FPS, enabling fast and continuous transactions suitable for public use. In addition, all transaction data, including user identity, object type, and accumulated points, were successfully recorded in a community-based Excel database in a structured and transparent manner. These findings indicate that the ECO-PAY system is technically feasible, reliable, and effective as a smart waste management solution, contributing to sustainable environmental practices and the practical realization of a circular economy model.

Abstract

The effectiveness of the eco-campus program remains suboptimal due to weak integration among environmental, behavioral, and ergonomic aspects of campus users. This research aims to design strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the eco-campus program at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya through a green ergonomics approach. Data were collected through observation, questionnaire distribution, and interviews involving all members of the academic community. The data were identified using a Fishbone Diagram and analyzed using the SWOT method to determine internal and external factors, followed by the formulation of improvement strategies using the QSPM method. The results of the study produced four strategies, namely S1, S2, S3, and S4. The prioritized strategy is S1—an Integrated Green Ergonomics Model—with the highest total score of 3.60. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the total attractiveness scores of the following factors: dependence on expensive technology (T3), lack of national Green Ergonomics standards (T4), changes in internal leadership policies (T2), resistance to organizational cultural change (T1), low awareness of the academic community regarding Green Ergonomics (W2), limited budget and management priorities (W4), support for sustainable research grants (O3), and the lack of cross-unit integration in eco-campus implementation (W1).

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the defect rate of threaded reinforcing bars, identify the dominant defects, determine Six Sigma capability, and design conceptual improvements based on Poka Yoke. The method used is Six Sigma with the DMAIC approach, combined with the Poka Yoke concept, supported by observational data, interviews, and historical data collected over a 15-day period. The results of the study indicate that the production process is not yet stable, with an average value of 3.96 Sigma and a Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) of 6,831.37. A Pareto analysis identified dents (74.25 per cent) and tears (15.60 per cent) as the dominant defects. The FMEA evaluation found that the root cause with the highest priority was the absence of machine initial setup records (RPN 392) and parameter sheets (RPN 343). As a solution, it is proposed to implement Visual and Administrative Poka-Yoke measures via a One-Point Lesson (OPL) board to prevent ‘blind setup’, as well as to make the completion of check sheets mandatory. This proposal is projected to reduce the RPN for tear defects to 128 and for dent defects to 112, which will subsequently be formalised in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
