Abstract

PT Surya Segara Safety Marine is a marine equipment trading and maritime security equipment servicing company in Indonesia that has four branches in Balikpapan, Makassar, Banyuwangi, and Bali. In their work, there are workers who have not implemented ergonomic working positions. This research aims to determine the action level value from the comparison scores of the RULA, REBA, and OWAS methods. From the research that has been carried out, it is known from the NBM questionnaire that 77% of workers experience back pain and 70% experience low back pain. Regarding the scoring results, a RULA score of 7 is very high risk, a REBA score of 9 is high risk, and an OWAS score of 2 is moderate risk. Based on the data obtained, the RULA method is most suitable because of the complaints felt by workers in the upper body. So a proposal to improve a table that can rotate and a chair that can be adjusted in height was made, which received a RULA score of 2 out of 7, where this value was better than the initial score before the improvement proposal was given.

Abstract

Poor indoor environmental conditions are often associated with reduced concentration, lower motivation, and decreased productivity in office settings. Addressing this issue requires a systematic assessment of Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) and its contribution to work performance. This study examines the effect of Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) on office worker performance, focusing on five components: Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Thermal Comfort, Lighting Quality, Acoustic Quality, and Occupant Experience. The Best-Worst Method (BWM) was applied to determine the relative importance of these factors through a combination of subjective surveys and objective weighting using linear programming. Results indicate that Occupant Experience, particularly ergonomic improvements such as adjustable furniture and optimized layouts, has the strongest influence on productivity. Thermal Comfort ranks second, followed by Lighting Quality, Acoustic Quality, and IAQ. Sensitivity analysis confirms the robustness and consistency of the findings. This research contributes by offering a systematic weighting of IEQ factors, highlighting the central role of ergonomics in workplace design. The study emphasizes that integrating ergonomic and environmental considerations is essential to improve worker performance. The novelty of this study lies in integrating Occupant Experience into the BWM framework, providing a more comprehensive model of IEQ and offering new insights for designing healthier and more productive office environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) complaints in shoe production workers at PT XYZ and evaluate work postures using the Posture Evaluation Index (PEI) approach. The methods used include data collection through direct observation, distribution of Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ), and posture assessment using OWAS, RULA, and REBA methods. The results showed that complaints most often occurred in the upper back, neck, and right shoulder, which were mostly caused by non-ergonomic work postures. The PEI assessment showed that the work section with the highest risk was the packing section, with a score of 2.7 indicating the need for immediate improvement. After improving the work posture according to ergonomic principles, the PEI score decreased to 1.6, indicating increased comfort and decreased risk of injury. This study emphasizes the importance of periodic ergonomic evaluations to improve work comfort and productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of music tempo on work productivity and the level of cognitive failure among employees in the fabrication division of PT. Adi Joyo Kusumo. Music is used as an intervention to address boredom and stress caused by monotonous work. This research employs the Cognitive Failure Questionnaire (CFQ) method distributed to 12 employees, and observations were made on production quantities over seven days under three conditions: without music, fast tempo music, and slow tempo music. The results indicate that fast tempo music yields the highest productivity level with a total production of 26 units, followed by the no music condition (23 units) and slow tempo music (21 units). Validity tests show that all CFQ items are valid, and reliability tests yield a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.921, indicating reliability. ANOVA tests show a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an F value of 17.078, indicating a significant effect of music tempo on cognitive failure levels. Although fast tempo music can enhance work performance, the noise level reached 89 dB, disturbing other divisions. This study concludes that fast tempo music can be used as a productivity enhancement strategy, provided that noise levels are controlled to avoid negative impacts on other work environments.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company engaged in the energy sector in Indonesia. Based on the company's 2020-2023 report, minor work accidents occurred with the highest frequency and increased in 2021 and 2022. Moderate work accidents increased in 2023 and serious work accidents increased in 2021. The number of work accidents that occurred from 2020 to 2023 in the company remained relatively high. This indicates that OHS management is a crucial concern, so that it can reduce the number of work accidents. Therefore, this study aims to measure the level of maturity of occupational safety culture (OHS) so that it can be used as evaluation material or recommendations for OHS management in the company. This study will consider psychological, behavioral, and situational aspects and use seven dimensions: commitment, information & communication, leadership, organizational learning, competence, involvement & engagement, and responsibility, as well as a quantitative approach through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results of the study indicate that the level of maturity of XYZ's safety culture is 4.48, so the company is at the proactive safety culture maturity level. The proposed improvement recommendations are to ensure that the condition of PPE and work safety equipment is functioning properly, create SOPs for each position, hold regular briefings before each job is carried out, conduct work area inspections, install warning signs and safety information in the work area, document all work that has been done, conduct work safety training according to each worker's job description periodically, and hold regular meetings about the importance of K3.
