Abstract

Circumcision is a medical procedure involving partial or complete removal of the foreskin (prepuce). This procedure is considered a minor surgical procedure. This activity aims to provide training to medical personnel at Siti Rahmah Islamic Hospital (RSI) Padang on circumcision techniques. Circumcision is often encountered in the community due to complications such as bleeding and delayed wound healing. Therefore, training is needed to acquire the latest knowledge, skills, and techniques for preventing complications. Conducting direct training with paramedics at Siti Rahmah Islamic Hospital (RSI) Padang on July 3, 2025. Direct intervention in the form of circumcision was provided to each participant (patient). The results of this circumcision training have trained and skilled paramedics at Siti Rahmah Islamic Hospital (RSI) to perform circumcision with minimal complications.

Abstract

Repetitive and intense overhead activities, such as those found in swimming, volleyball, and goalkeeping in football, cause repetitive biomechanical stress on the shoulder joints. This exposure has the potential to cause anatomical remodelling, in the form of significant structural and functional adaptations in the shoulder complex, including the scapula, humerus, and supporting soft tissues. This study analyses narrative literature on research from the past five years regarding anatomical changes caused by overhead activities in swimmers, volleyball players, and footballers. The Scopus, PubMed, and DOAJ databases were used to search for literature focusing on shoulder structural changes and biomechanics. Articles must be in English or Indonesian and open-access. A literature synthesis revealed that the shoulders of overhead athletes undergo anatomical changes, including increased lateral rotation, decreased medial rotation, and increased scapular asymmetry. Anatomical applications also vary across specific sports. Volleyball athletes have larger rotator cuff muscles and a higher risk of subacromial impingement. In contrast, swimmers have a higher risk of humeral epiphysiolysis due to the frequent shoulder movements they experience from a young age. In football goalkeepers, remodelling is more focused on shoulder muscle imbalance and reduced glenohumeral stability due to direct contact and ball-reaching activities. Overhead activities in sports cause unique structural adaptations in the shoulder, depending on the type of sport and specific movement patterns. A deep understanding of this remodelling is crucial for designing targeted injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes for overhead athletes.

Abstract

To improve students' operative skills, clinical anatomy instruction is crucial in medical education. An approach that integrates anatomy and surgical practice is considered more effective than the conventional method that separates the two. Previous research findings may not be entirely consistent. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with thematic analysis, encompassing quantitative and qualitative studies from the last five years from reputable databases. The selected articles addressed clinical anatomy in a surgical context and its impact on the operative skills of medical students. When clinical anatomy is integrated into surgical education, patients' understanding of applicable anatomy and basic technical skills, including procedures such as cricothyroidotomy, appendectomy, and dissection, improves. Simulation, surgical procedures using experimental animals, and virtual reality technology are all methods that can facilitate learning. These techniques enhance anatomical accuracy, dissection skills, and clinical decision-making based on body structures. The quality of the facilitator, continuity of education, and practice tools (including wet labs and VR/AR) are all factors that influence effectiveness. Challenges include limited time, limited instructional resources, and variations in approaches across institutions. The integration of clinical anatomy into surgical education is recommended to bridge the gap between theory and clinical skills, with a systematic curriculum grounded in real- world practice and simulation.

Abstract

Photoaging is a complex skin aging process that results from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, leading to notable histological changes. This type of damage can affect both the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. The purpose of this review article is to highlight and summarize the recent findings from the past five years concerning the histology associated with photoaging and the molecular mechanisms that contribute to this skin damage. The methodology employed involved a thorough literature review of articles published between 2020 and 2025. Journals were identified using targeted keywords, including "photoaging," "skin aging," "histology," and "actinic elastosis." The findings from this search are presented in a narrative format. The study found that UV exposure causes photoaging of the skin with damage to the epidermis and dermis. Photoaging causes structural and functional changes in the skin and causes gene mutations leading to skin carcinogenesis.

Abstract

Shiatsu therapy is a complementary treatment approach rooted in Japanese tradition, based on the principle of applying pressure to specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow, improve health, and support well-being. This study aims to explore the effect of shiatsu therapy on reducing the risk of injury. This study utilized a qualitative methodology, conducting a literature review of journals published between 2015 and 2025 related to shiatsu therapy. The search employed the keywords "shiatsu massage," "shiatsu for muscle injury," and "effect of shiatsu." Findings from the literature were synthesized and presented in narrative form The findings indicate that shiatsu therapy may reduce the risk of injury by decreasing muscle tension, enhancing flexibility, and increasing range of motion. Furthermore, shiatsu therapy is associated with psychological benefits, including reduced stress and improved sleep quality, both of which are crucial for recovery. Therefore, shiatsu therapy represents a potential strategy for injury prevention and comprehensive health maintenance.
