Study location was Gayamsari public health center working area, Semarang city, Central Java Province, Indonesia. Sixteen exclusive breastfeeding mothers and 16 non exclusive breastfeeding mothers were recruited. Mothers with infant aged 4 months were assessed for their anthropometry (weight, height, mid-upper-arm-circumference, and body fat percentage), dietary intakes (24 hours recall in week day and week end) and hemoglobin level. Nutrition fulfillment of dietary intake was calculated based on Indonesia RDA according to age group. Univariate analysis was used to calculate the frequency, independent T-test and Mann-Whitney test were used to analyze differences in assessment results between groups. The results showed that mean aged of subject was 28.3±5.4 years, median parity was 2 childrens, mean BMI was 23.0±4.2 kg/m2. In total, 12.5%, 40.6%, and 46.9% of the subjects were classified as underweight, normal, and overweight respectively. There is no significant difference (p>0.05) in nutritional status between groups. Subjects who fulfill the daily intake recommendation was only 16.1% for protein, 9.7% for fat, 12.9% for vitamin A, 6.5% for vitamin C, 3.2% for folic acid, and 3.2% for calcium. There was no significant difference in daily intake between groups. Mean hemoglobin level of subject was 12.1±1.6 mg/dl. 50% of the subjects were considered as anemic and no significant difference was found between groups (p>0.05). In conclusion, there is no significant difference between exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding group in nutritional status, nutrition adequacy and hemoglobin level. Less than half of the subjects were categorized as having a normal nutritional status. None of subject fulfill the daily energy, Fe and Zn requirements.

Abstract

Physical activity are at great risk of decreasing bone density. Office workers are among the groups at risk of decreasing bone density due to the assumption of less varied food consumption and low levels of physical activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between food consumption, nutritional status, and physical activity with bone density of educational staff in Faculty of Public Health Diponegoro University. This research is a type of quantitative research using cross sectional study design. Population in this research counted 78 people and research sample counted 38 people. Sampling technique in this study using simple random sampling. The results showed that bone density with less category (92.1% of respondents), nutritional status with obesity category I (78.9% respondent), energy consumption level with more category (60,5% respondent), carbohydrate consumption level with more category (42,1% respondents), consumption level of protein with light deficit category (55,3% respondent), level of fat consumption with enough category (47,4% respondent), calcium consumption level with moderate deficit category (42,1% respondents), phosphorus consumption rate with severe deficit category (65.8% respondents), frequency of caffeine consumption with rare category (76.3% respondents), and the level of physical activity with light category (92.1% of respondents). Rank Spearman correlation test showed that there was correlation between nutritional status variable with bone density in male respondents (p value = 0.001) while the other four variables (calcium consumption level, phosphorus consumption level, frequency of caffeine consumption and physical activity) were not related to bone density with p value = 0.411, 0.345, 0.561, and 0.632. The result of correlation test on female respondents showed that there were no variables related to bone density with p value = 0,069, 0,570, 0,318, 0,628 and 0,826. This study recommends respondents to eat with variety types of foods and increase physical activity.

This research uses observational analytic with cross sectional design. Population are 442 adolescents of Senior High School 4 Pekalongan. Subjects are 80 people (5  from each class) chosen by respondents’ willingness to check for hemoglobin levels. Purposive Sampling technique is used. Dysmenorrhea’s incidences and pain degree data conducted by interview and numeric rating scale questionnaires. Anemia measurement conducted by Family Dr® strip test. Physical activity data conducted by recall for two consecutive days. Calcium and magnesium intake data conducted by Food Frequency Questionnaires. Data analyzed by Chi Square test. The results showed that 58.8% subjects suffered from anemia. 52,5% had very light physical activity. 77,5% consumed deficient calcium intake and 67,5% sufficient magnesium intake. There is a relationship between anemia (OR = 8.9; 95% CI: 2.6-30.7; p = 0.0001), very light physical activity (OR = 4.3; 95% CI: 1.3-13, 5; p = 0.019), deficient calcium intake (OR = 10.6; 95% CI: 3.1-35.3; p = 0.0001), and deficient magnesium intake (OR = 5.51; 95% CI: 1,1-26,0; p = 0,039) with the dysmenorrhea’s incidences in adolescents. It is suggested for adolescents to consume foods and beverages which contains calcium, magnesium and iron such as milk, nuts, tofu, tempeh, vegetables, especially spinach, broccoli, kale and doing extracurricular activities at school.

Abstract

High cholesterol blood level can form a sediment on the blood vessel wall. Cholesterol can harm the body when consumed in an excessive amount. Increased cholesterol in blood is called hypercholesterolaemia. The purpose of this research was to analyze the correlation of Padang food consumption habit with cholesterol level in IKAMMI community Semarang. This is a quantitative research with cross sectional design with population of 82 people. Samples of this research were 45 people. Sampling technique in this research was using simple random sampling. The correlation trial was using rank spearman. The results showed that frequency of padang food consumption habit was often (75,6%), fat consumption was low (80%), knowledge’s level was adequate (73,3%), percentage of body fat was normal (31,1%) and  percentage of body fat was overweight (31,1%), physical activity was moderate (48,9%) and cholesterol level was optimal (73,3%).  There were significant correlations of food habit (p value= 0,024), fat consumption (p value= 0,01)  and percentage of body fat ( p value = 0,046) with cholesterol level. There were no correlations of knowledge’s level (p value= 0,979) and physical activity (p value= 0,439) with cholesterol level.
