Abstract

Leprosy is an infectious disease that causes problems from a medical perspective to social, economic, cultural, security and health problems. Leprosy is generally found in developing countries as a result of the country's limited ability to provide adequate services in the health sector. This study aims to explore the life experiences of leprosy sufferers on the island of Mahangetang by using a phenomenological approach. The data was collected using the purposive sampling technique, through field observations and in-depth interviews with 7 participants. Data analysis was carried out using thematic analysis methods. The results of the study found eight themes, namely, activities carried out by people with leprosy, economic conditions that occurred while suffering from leprosy, psychological burden while suffering from leprosy, behavior seeking treatment, the meaning of leprosy, social support and illness experienced as destiny that must be accepted. The conclusion of this study based on the results of interview analysis found 8 themes, 20 sub-themes and 41 categories. Although suffering from leprosy, all activities are still carried out, both work and religious activities, even though the psychological burden is directly experienced by leprosy sufferers, but with social support, it can strengthen the psychology of leprosy patients so that they remain patient in undergoing treatment. Abstrak: Penyakit kusta merupakan salah satu penyakit menular yang menimbulkan masalah dari segi medis sampai masalah sosial, ekonomi, budaya dan keamanan. Abstract

In the current covid-19 endemic, degenerative diseases still have a high prevalence and morbidity rate, one of which is hypertension. The high prevalence of hypertension can be caused by many factors such as improper lifestyle management that can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Adults and elderly with hypertension are encouraged to receive non-pharmacological treatments to minimize risk factors for cardiovascular and other systemic and degenerative diseases. Families have an important role in providing information about hypertension and the risk of complications for patients. Families also have a role in providing appropriate care, especially during the period towards endemic covid-19. Counseling was conducted on patients and their families in Sumberejo Village, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency. The activity was carried out with an initial examination and counseling consisting of 2 main topics: 1) what is hypertension and 2) hypertension care management by family at home. Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, offline learning was shifted to online learning. one of the applications is Zoom Meeting, which is easy to use. The zoom application combines in displaying material in power points learning and feedback communications. One of the challenges in online learning is triage learning such as the Australian triage scale (ATS), ATS itself is a type of triage with five categories. ATS material is a learning achievement that must be mastered by students, but not much research has been done on online learning methods with ATS material. The method used in this study is an observational analytic method using a cross-sectional approach, the researcher takes data from several variables that exist at the same time. There are three factor namely technological factors, student characteristics factors and teacher characteristics. Results: The results of the study several influential factors were obtained namely, technology factors with a p-value of 0.013, student characteristics factors with a p-value of 0.029, and student characteristics factors of 0.003. Teacher characteristics factor with a p-value of 0.029. The three factors have a relationship with students' triage competence with the online method. Conclusion: The three factors have a significant relationship, but there is no most significant factor yet. Abstrak: Di masa pandemi Covid-19, pembelajaran offline digeser menjadi pembelajaran online. salah satu aplikasinya adalah Zoom Meeting yang mudah digunakan. Abstract

Chronic kidney failure, a progressive and irreversible decline in kidney function, poses a significant health challenge with diverse etiologies. Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) emerges as a crucial treatment method, utilizing the peritoneal cavity as a conduit for dialysis fluid. Prolonged CAPD use, coupled with inadequate maintenance, can lead to peritoneal membrane failure, resulting in complications such as peritonitis. This community engagement initiative aims to enhance patient adherence to exit site care at home for CAPD users, mitigating the risk of recurrent peritonitis infections. Patient data were sourced from the CAPD Center at Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital in Malang. Preventive efforts focused on empowering patients through routine exit site care modules delivered at home. Notably, 83% of respondents exhibited high adherence to exit site care, signifying a positive impact on infection prevention. Additionally, the majority of CAPD patients reported good quality of life at 67.9%. This study interprets adherence as patients' behavior aligning with Standard Operational Procedures post-consultation, with 83% demonstrating compliance. The findings underscore the importance of home-based exit site care in reducing recurrent peritonitis incidents among CAPD patients.

Abstract

Hemoglobin levels play an important role in the health status of adolescents. Low hemoglobin levels in the blood can interfere with the growth process, decrease fitness levels, memory and immunity, and concentration levels. It can affect learning ability and academic achievement in adolescents. Sleep quality is thought to be one of the important factors that can affect hemoglobin regulation in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sleep quality and hemoglobin levels in adolescents at SMAS Sunan Kalijaga Jabung Malang Regency. The research method used observational-cross sectional with a total of 56 adolescents with the Multistage Sampling technique. We used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire to determine sleep quality and took capillary blood samples to determine hemoglobin levels. The results showed that most adolescents (89.3%) had poor sleep quality and 39.3% of adolescents had low hemoglobin levels. The correlation test used Spearman Rho and the results were p-value = 0.021 and r = -0.308. This means that there is a relationship between sleep quality and hemoglobin levels. Increasing sleep quality affects the regulation of blood hemoglobin levels in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Patient transfer between hospital units, especially from the Emergency Department (ED) to the High Care Unit-Intensive Care Unit (HCU-ICU), carries a high risk of adverse events due to communication failures during handover. The Introduction, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation (ISBAR) checklist is a structured communication tool designed to enhance handover quality but is underutilized in written patient transfer. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the ISBAR checklist in improving the quality of nurse handovers during ED to HCU-ICU patient transfers. Method: A pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-posttest design was conducted, in which ED nurses used the ISBAR checklist during patient handovers. Forty HCU-ICU nurses assessed the quality of the ED nurse handovers using the Handover Evaluation Scale (HES) questionnaire. A paired sample t-test was used to analyze the differences in handover quality before and after implementation. Result: The ISBAR checklist significantly improved nurses’ handover quality, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0,05). The effectiveness of the ISBAR checklist was analyzed using an N-gain score, resulting in a moderate improvement level of 0.34 (0.3 ≤ g ≥ 0.7). Conclusion: The ISBAR checklist is an effective tool for improving nurse handover quality in patient transfers. Hospitals should adopt ISBAR as a standardized handover protocol to enhance patient safety and continuity of care and establish a minimally interruptive environment during handover. Further research should explore long-term implementation and integration into electronic health records.
