Abstract

The high demand for competence in the world of the shipping industry today demands an increase in the skills of the Commercial Ship Engineering Study Program cadets, especially in the field of welding techniques. This indicates that Taruna's welding technique skills are still low. This Community Service Activity aims to improve welding technique skills and welding understanding for cadets. The Community Service Activity method uses the Competence-Based Training (CBT) Model, which combines theory, demonstration, and practicum. Evaluation is done by doing a pre-test, and post-test. CBT participants are 11th grade cadets of SMK Pelayaran Muhammadiyah 1 Kalasan Yogyakarta, with the expertise of Commercial Ship Engineering, with a total of 25 cadets. The results of the evaluation of Community Service were an increase of 60% in theory mastery, an increase of 64% in understanding demonstrations, and an increase of 84% in the skills of cadets in welding practice

Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 menyebabkan masyarakat merasakan kesulitan ekonomi. Menghadapi kesulitan ekonomi seperti ini, masyarakat membutuhkan lembaga yang dapat membantu mereka memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya dengan harga yang terjangkau dan mempunyai keberpihakan kepada masyarakat. Lembaga yang tepat untuk itu adalah koperasi. Berkaitan dengan itu tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Sekolah Tinggi Maritim Yogyakarta berinisiatif memberikan pelatihan pengelolaan koperasi dalam rangka pengembangan ekonomi kerakyatan kepada ibu-ibu PKK Nusa Indah dan Teratai di Dusun Pedusan RT 58, Desa Argosari, Kec. Sedayu, Bantul. Pelaksanaan program dalam pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap persiapan (penilaian kebutuhan pelatihan), pelaksanaan (pengembangan program pelatihan) dan evaluasi program pelatihan. Hasil dan target luaran yang dicapai adalah sebagai berikut: 1) Berdasarkan evaluasi dan refleksi, 80% peserta pelatihan sudah mengetahui semua persyaratan yang dibutuhkan untuk mendirikan koperasi, 2) Adanya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang dasar hukum koperasi, tujuan, fungsi dan prinsip koperasi, jenis-jenis koperasi dan pembentukan koperasi.

Abstract

Aluminium paduan seri 2024-T3 banyak digunakan di industri manufaktur seperti pesawat terbang, otomotif, dan kapal laut karena aluminium merupakan logam ringan dan memiliki sifat mekanik yang baik. Namun demikian aluminium paduan 2024-T3 rentan terhadap korosi bila dioperasikan di lingkungan yang korosif, seperti air laut. Salah satu upaya untuk mengendalikan laju korosi adalah dengan penambahan inhibitor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh inhibitor kalium kromat (K2CrO4) dalam mengendalikan laju korosi Al 2024-T3 di lingkungan air laut. Pada penelitian ini, jenis inhibitor yang dipakai adalah kalium kromat (K2CrO4) yang ditambahkan di media air laut dengan variasi konsentrasi 0,1%; 0,3%; dan 0,5%. Selanjutnya laju korosi diukur dengan menggunakan metode sel potensial tiga elektroda dengan kalomel (Hg2Cl2) jenuh sebagai elektroda baku sedangkan elektroda tambahan digunakan platina (Pt). Sebagai data pendukung dilakukan uji komposisi, uji struktur mikro, uji kekerasan Vickers dan uji tarik. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa laju korosi Al 2024-T3 di media air laut tanpa inhibitor sebesar 0,0216 mm/tahun. Penambahan inhibitor kalium kromat (K2CrO4) cenderung menurunkan laju korosi dan konsentrasi optimum tercapai pada 0,5% K2CrO4 ditandai dengan laju korosi minimum yaitu sebesar 0,0134 mm/tahun atau terjadi penurunan laju korosi sebesar 38%. Bentuk korosi yang terjadi berupa korosi sumuran (pitting corrosion) yang disebabkan karena rusaknya selaput pasif. Pada kasus ini inhibitor berfungsi menutup selaput pasif yang rusak tersebut sehingga dapat menghambat laju korosi. However, aluminium alloy 2024-T3 is suffered from corrosion attack when it is operated in corrosive environment such as sea water. One of the corrosion control methods is inhibitor addition. The present investigation aimed to study the effect of K2CrO4 inhibitor on controlling corrosion rate in sea water. In this research, K2CrO4 was added to sea water environment with various concentrations, i.e. 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5%. Subsequently corrosion rates were measured using three-electrode potential technique with saturated calomel (Hg2Cl2) electrode as a reference electrode whereas the auxiliary electrode was platinum (Pt). Additional experiments including compositional analysis, microstructural examination, hardness measurement and tensile test were also carried out to gain better understanding to the mechanism in which corrosion attacks aluminium alloy 2024-T3. Experimental results showed that corrosion rate of aluminium alloy 2024-T3 in sea water without inhibitor is around 0.0216 mm/year. The additions of K2CrO4 inhibitor tended to reduce the corrosion rate until a minimum value was obtained, typically 0.0134 mm/year (or 38% decrease) as the amount of K2CrO4 was 0.5%. The type of corrosion observed in this investigation was pitting corrosion as a result of local damage in passive film. Inhibitor seemed to form thin protective film on metal surface hence reducing corrosion rate. Keywords: aluminium alloy, 2024-T3, sea water, corrosion , inhibitor, K2CrO4

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam penanggulangan risiko kebakaran di daerah pemukiman padat penduduk melalui pelatihan  penggunaan alat pemadam api portable. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Nogotirto, Gamping, Sleman. Peserta Pelatihan ini berjumlah 20 orang. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan melalui 5 tahap, yaitu (1) Pelaksanaan pretest; (2) Pemberian materi melalui metode ceramah dan tanya jawab; (3) Demonstrasi penggunaan alat pemadam api portable; (4)  Praktik individu menggunakan alat pemadam api portable; (5) Pelaksanaan Posttest. Capaian peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat diukur menggunakan kuesioner pretest dan posttest, data diolah dan diuji dengan uji paired T-test. Adapun hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam penanggulangan risiko kebakaran, disamping itu adanya perbedaan rata-rata tingkat pengetahuan dan keterampilan penanggulangan kebakaran sebelum dan setelah pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan. Kata kunci: kebakaran; pelatihan; pemadam api; portable ABSTRACTThis service aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the community in managing fire risks in densely populated residential areas through training in the use of portable fire extinguishers. This service was carried out in Nogotirto Village, Gamping, Sleman. The number of participants in this training is 20 people. Community service activities are carried out in 5 stages, namely (1) Pretest implementation; (2) Providing material using the method of lecture and question and answer; (3) Demonstration of the use of portable fire extinguishers; (4) Individual practice using portable fire extinguishers; (5) Implementation of Posttest. The achievement of increasing the knowledge and skills of the community was measured using a pretest and posttest questionnaire, the data was processed and tested using the paired T-test. The result of this service is an increase in the knowledge and skills of the community in managing fire risk in densely populated residential areas, in addition to that, there is a difference in the average level of knowledge and skills in fire management before and after the implementation of training activities. Keywords: fire; training; fire extinguisher; portable

Abstract

ABSTRAKPengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan dan mensosialisasikan inovasi teknologi navigasi dalam  bidang  maritim melalui virtual outing untuk anak-anak Jogjakarta Montessori School Elementary Program. Peserta yang  dilibatkan dalam  kegiatan pengabdian  ini  yaitu  Guru-guru SD dan anak-anak kelas 4,5 dan 6. Rangkaian kegiatan ini meliputi 3 tahapan yaitu: Tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaaan dan tahap evaluasi. Tahap persiapan meliputi  persiapan alat-alat navigasi yang dimiliki oleh Sekolah Tinggi Maritim Yogyakarta dan pembuatan materi.  Tahap  pelaksanaan meliputi pembukaan, pemaparan materi dan penjelasan alat-alat navigasi di laboratorium simulator, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan diskusi dan tanya jawab peserta yang hadir. Pada tahap evaluasi, peserta mengisi kuesioner melalui google form, hasil kuesioner yaitu  meliputi: aspek  presentasi  yang  disampaikan  pemateri  memiliki  nilai  kepuasan sebesar 76.27%,  aspek  atensi  yang disampaikan  oleh  pemateri terhadap pengenalan alat-alat navigasi mempunyai nilai kepuasan sebesar 83.05%,  aspek  motivasi tanya jawab mempunyai nilai kepuasan sebesar 88.14%,  rata-rata semua aspek mempunyai nilai kepuasan sebesar 82.48 % Kata kunci: teknologi; navigasi; maritim; virtual outing. ABSTRACTThis community service aims to introduce and socialize navigation technology innovations in the maritime field through virtual outings for the children of the Elementary Program in the Yogyakarta Montessori School. The participants involved in this service activity are elementary school teachers and children class 4,5 and 6. This series of activities includes 3 stages, namely: the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation stage. The preparation stage completes the preparation of navigation tools owned by the Sekolah Tinggi Maritim Yogyakarta and the manufacture of materials. The implementation stage of the opening, the presentation of the material and navigational tools was followed by discussion and question and answer from the participants present. At the evaluation stage, participants filled out a questionnaire through the google form, the results of the questionnaire include: aspects of the presentation delivered by the speaker have a satisfaction value of 76.27%, aspects of attention submitted by speakers to the introduction of navigation tools have a satisfaction value of 83.05%, aspects of question and answer motivation have a satisfaction value of 88.14%, on average all aspects have a satisfaction value of 82.48 %. Keywords: technology; navigation; maritime; virtual outing

Abstract

This research aimed at identifying the effectivity of applying Moodle virtual class on cadets’ learning motivation and cadets’ motivation in speaking ability in the pandemic of Covid-19. Moodle is one of open source of e-learning software used in lecturing process. The research sample was Studi Nautika Cadets of Sekolah Tinggi Maritim Yogyakarta who were taking Maritime English II class. This research is a descriptive quantitative research. It employed online questionnaire as data collecting method. This study resulted that Moodle usage achievement effectivity on cadets’ learning motivation in Maritime English II subject gained 80.83% agreement. Furthermore, it the effectivity of using Moodle in Maritime English II resulted in 90.63% in Cadets’ motivation in speaking.

Abstract

This research is aimed at getting to know the influence of as much as 99% level of alkali treatment (NaOH) or 60 gram of each in one liter aqua and soaked during three hours, heated with the temperature of 140o Celsius during 10 hours. This research is also intended to know the combination of 99% level of Alkali treatment (NaOH) or 60 gram of each in one liter aqua and soaked during three hours continued with the heating with temperature around 140o Celsius during ten hours toward the content of crystalline index (Cl) which correlates with Kenaf fiber strength as composit material of nature fiber. The result of the research shows that the highest content of crystalline index is possessed on Alkali treatment which is combined with the heating as much as 79,908% followed by Alkali treatment as much as 68,389% extended by heating treatment as much as 62,707%. The research also shows that the lowest content of crystalline index is the untreated fiber as much as 62,045%.

Abstract

Aluminium paduan seri 2024-T3 telah banyak diaplikasikan pada industri kapal laut karena memiliki ketahanan korosi yang relatif baik, tetapi rentan bila digunakan di lingkungan korosif seperti air laut. Untuk mengendalikan korosi banyak metode yang digunakan salah satunya dengan pemakaian inhibitor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh inhibitor kalium kromat (K2CrO4) dalam menurunkan laju korosi dan laju perambatan fatik pada Al 2024-T3. Pengujian laju korosi dengan menggunakan metode sel potensial tiga elektroda yang dilakukan di lingkungan air laut dengan menambahkan inhibitor, sementara itu untuk menguji laju perambatan fatik dengan menggunakan eksperimen fatik dengan stress rasio (R) = 0,1 dan frekuensi 15 Hz. Lingkungan korosi berupa air laut yang ditambahkan inhibitor K2CrO4 dengan konsentrasi 0,1%; 0,3% dan 0,5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi inhibitor K2CrO4 cenderung menurunkan laju korosi dan mencapai kondisi minimal dan stagnants pada konsentrasi 0,5% sebesar 0,0134 mm/year (penurunan 38%), serta pada kondisi ini penurunan laju perambatan retak fatik (korosi fatik) terjadi pada ∆K rendah yaitu < 15 MPa. m1/2.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how to maintain the cooling system of a diesel engine on the Komatsu WA120-3C Whell Loader. This research was conducted in the Implementation of Public Works Agency Yogyakarta. How to collect data using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that the maintenance of the cooling system on the diesel engine on the Komatsu WA120-3C Whell Loader had run well and had followed the operational standards contained in the manual book. The maintenance performed on the cooling machine includes water pump maintenance, radiator system maintenance, intercooler maintenance, fan maintenance, radiator hose maintenance, radiator pressure cap maintenance.
