Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology in the globalization era has significantly transformed higher education, especially in adapting to Generation Z students who are highly familiar with digital technology. These students require interactive, technology-based learning approaches, as conventional methods often fail to sustain their concentration and motivation. This study investigates the impact of two key factors learning motivation and the quality of the learning environment on academic performance. Conducted on 145 Generation Z students from the Management Study Program at STIE YAPAN Surabaya (2nd, 4th, and 6th semester), this research employs a quantitative approach using multiple regression analysis. The sampling technique used is a census, with data collected through primary questionnaires. Findings indicate that both learning motivation and the quality of the learning environment have a positive and significant effect on students' academic achievement. In other words, academic success relies on both internal drive and external support, especially for Generation Z, who are highly responsive to their surroundings. These factors work together to enhance learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research delves into how leadership agility and entrepreneurial orientation impact innovation ambidexterity and competitive advantage strategically, taking into consideration both direct and indirect effects. Using a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design, the study conducted a survey of all 90 small culinary businesses in Surabaya City using a census sampling method. Data collection was done through structured questionnaires and analysis was performed using SmartPLS 3.0. The results indicate that both leadership agility and entrepreneurial orientation have a significant positive effect on innovation ambidexterity. Furthermore, these antecedent variables exert a substantial impact on competitive advantage. Notably, innovation ambidexterity plays a mediating role, reinforcing its function as a critical mechanism linking internal capabilities to strategic outcomes. The originality of this study is in its detailed examination of small food businesses, a sector that has not been fully explored. It sheds light on how these companies can use their internal strengths to improve their competitive edge. This research adds to the conversation about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific focus on SDG 8 (Promoting Jobs and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Encouraging Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). It emphasises the role of flexible leadership and entrepreneurial planning in promoting creativity and resilience in small businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of hybrid working systems and work discipline on the work productivity of Generation Z employees at PT Solomon Indo Global. Employing a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 33 Gen Z employees using structured questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression. The results reveal that the hybrid working system has a positive and significant effect on employee productivity (t = 2.358; p = 0.025), reflected in improved work flexibility, effective use of digital technology, and output-based performance management. Work discipline shows a positive but partially non-significant effect on productivity (t = 1.546; p = 0.132), though it contributes positively within the regression model. Simultaneous testing indicates that both hybrid working and work discipline jointly and significantly influence employee productivity (F = 18.324; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.550 indicates that 55% of the variation in employee productivity is explained by the two variables. These findings suggest that the effectiveness of hybrid working for Generation Z employees relies more on system flexibility and technological support, while work discipline serves as a supporting factor. The managerial implication is that organizations need to design adaptive work systems accompanied by clear performance standards and outcome-based monitoring mechanisms to ensure sustainable productivity.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the urgent need to improve the quality of vocational education, particularly in efforts to maximize student academic achievement through internal factors—namely, learning motivation and academic discipline—which still vary significantly within school environments. This research is conducted to analyze the effect of learning motivation and academic discipline on students’ academic achievement, assessed both individually and collectively. The method used is a quantitative approach with a causal-associative research design, involving the entire population of 90 students using a saturation sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, and was subsequently analyzed using statistical techniques, including multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that learning motivation and academic discipline have a positive and significant influence on academic achievement, both individually and jointly. These findings confirm that enhancing students’ motivation and discipline plays a crucial role in fostering optimal academic achievement. Thus, strengthening these two aspects should be a primary focus in learning strategies. The implications of this study provide a foundation for schools and educators in designing more effective strategies to improve the quality of learning and students’ academic outcomes.

Abstract

In knowledge-intensive organizations like higher education institutions, the connection between intellectual capital and institutional performance has recently drawn significant academic attention. This study examines whether human, structural, and relational capital individually contribute to better institutional performance through innovation. With a sample of 242 academic staff and structural leaders from public and private universities, the study employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 4 software. According to the results, innovation is significantly and positively influenced by all three elements of intellectual capital. Furthermore, relational capital and innovation both exert significant direct effects on institutional performance. Innovation fully mediates the relationships between human capital and institutional performance, and between structural capital and institutional performance, while partially mediating the relationship between relational capital and institutional performance. This study concludes that human and structural capital do not significantly improve institutional performance without the intervening role of innovation, whereas relational capital contributes significantly to institutional performance both directly and through innovation. These findings extend the intellectual capital–innovation–performance framework beyond its conventional commercial origins into the higher education context, offering actionable insights for institutional leaders and policymakers seeking to leverage knowledge assets for sustainable performance improvement.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of learning satisfaction and learning environment on the academic achievement of students at Perdana 1 Vocational High School Surabaya. The background of this study is the growing importance of non-cognitive factors in shaping student performance. A quantitative survey was conducted with 90 participants, and the data were examined using validity and reliability assessments, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. All instruments were found to be valid and reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values exceeding 0.70. The classical assumption tests indicated that the data were normally distributed, free from multicollinearity, and did not exhibit heteroscedasticity. Regression analysis revealed that both independent variabel have a positive significant effect on academic achievement, with the learning environment identified as the most dominant influencing factor. The simultaneous test confirmed a significant combined effect of both variables on academic achievement with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.668) indicates that 66.8% of the variation in academic achievement can be explained by learning satisfaction and learning environment. These findings suggest that improving learning satisfaction and creating a conducive learning environment are key strategies to enhance student academic achievement.
