Abstract

This study aims to: (1) introduce the concept of resilience to negative electronic word of mouth (eWOM); and (2) examine a process model from self-congruity, brand attachment, brand prestige, and resilience to negative eWOM using a moderation mediation model. A time-lag approach was conducted to collect data, involving 312 students from two universities in Jakarta. Moderation hierarchical regression using a macro process is used to test the hypothesis. The results show that resilience to negative eWOM can be strengthened through personal resources (self-congruity, brand attachment, and brand prestige). The brand attachment has been proven to be a vital factor that can strengthen resilience to negative eWOM, and this relationship becomes more robust as perceived brand prestige at a high level. These findings extend existing topics related to eWOM by presenting another form of consumer loyalty and trust in a brand through resilience to negative eWOM.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically investigate the influence of destination image, visitor image congruity, and perceived related health issues on revisit intention and the role of perceived risk as moderators in these relationships. We integrated the theory of self-congruity and protection motivation theory to understand post-pandemic travel behaviour further. Using a moderated regression analysis (MRA), data are collected from 402 students from two universities in Jakarta. The results from the study provide that destination image and image congruity are positively related to revisiting intention, while perceived risk has a negative direction. Moreover, perceived risk is essential in the relationship between destination image, image congruity, and revisit intention. These results extend a model for predicting travel behaviour in crisis/pandemic situations, corroborating the earlier studies, and providing practical implications for stakeholders and tourism area managers.

Abstract

The existing literature suggests that the scarcity signal is a crucial factor that determines consumer purchase intention. However, research inconsistencies regarding the direction of the relationship require more attempts to understand whether there is a possible inverted U-shaped relationship between scarcity and purchase intention. Moreover, this study examines the role of price promotion as a boundary condition. This study aims to shed light on the scarcity signal–online purchase intention relationship in a sample of students in Jakarta. The results show an inverted U-shaped relationship between scarcity and purchase intention. In addition, the interaction of price promotion and scarcity signals appears to be particularly important for yielding higher purchase intention. The implications of these findings contribute to the literature on online purchase decisions and allow online marketers to evaluate marketing strategies, especially in online markets.
