Abstract

Introduction: The ability of mothers to supply adequate nutrition is closely linked to the nutritional support given to children aged 6-24 months who experience stunted growth. A mother's responsibilities can be fulfilled through her skills, confidence, and ability to perform tasks and ensure proper nutrition for children aged 6-24 months who are experiencing stunted growth. The objective of this research was to explore the connection between how mothers feed their children and the nutritional health of kids aged 6 to 24 months. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional correlation analysis utilizing height-for-age z-score tables from the World Health Organization alongside the Infant and Young Children Feeding Practice and Structure Questionnaire. A total of 76 participants were chosen through a cluster random sampling method from five district health centers in Malang Regency. The data were analyzed using the Spearman rank test. Results: The findings indicated a significant association between the mother's capability to meet the nutritional needs of children aged 6-24 months who are stunted (including breastfeeding, food preparation and processing, complementary feeding, responsive feeding, and adherence to stunted therapy) and their nutritional status (measured by upper arm circumference and minimal weight gain), with a p-value of less than 0.05. Additionally, the mothers were responsible for implementing feeding practices. Conclusion: Maternal feeding practices are linked to the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months who are stunted. This connection is evident in aspects such as breastfeeding, food preparation and processing, complementary feeding, responsive feeding, and adherence to stunting therapy, which relate to nutritional indicators like minimal weight gain and upper arm circumference. However, other indicators did not show a correlation between breastfeeding, food preparation and processing, responsive feeding, and adherence to the nutritional status of stunted children, specifically regarding upper arm circumference. Keywords: feeding practice; maternal; nutritional status; stunted

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that requires long-term treatment and high medication adherence to prevent relapse. However, non-adherence to medication among patients with schizophrenia remains a major problem, particularly after patients return to the family environment. As the closest support system, families play an important role in supervising, motivating, and assisting patients to adhere to medication regimens. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family role and medication adherence among patients with schizophrenia at Sofifi Mental Hospital, North Maluku. This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of families of patients with schizophrenia at Sofifi Mental Hospital, with a sample of 60 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a family role questionnaire as a medication supervisor and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis with the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that most families had a moderate to good level of family role, with a mean score of 26.4 ± 5.8. Medication adherence among patients was categorized as moderate, with a mean score of 6.1 ± 1.7. The Spearman Rank test indicated a significant and positive relationship between family role and medication adherence among patients with schizophrenia (r = 0.56; p-value = 0.001). These findings indicate that better family involvement in providing support, supervision, and emotional control is associated with higher medication adherence among patients with schizophrenia. Therefore, family-based mental health nursing interventions should be optimized to enhance medication adherence and reduce relapse rates among patients with schizophrenia

Objective This study aims to analyse the relationship between activeness, the role of cadres, and family support with maternal compliance in bringing children under five years Method This study uses correlational study with cross- sectional. Data were collected through a questionnaire covering independent variables (activeness, role of cadres, family support) and dependent variables (compliance). The population was all toddlers registered at the Integrated Health Service Seruni BTN Graha Pasir Ona Rangkasbitung, Banten in 2025, totalling 69 toddlers. Technique sampling used accidental sampling so that the entire population became respondents. Inclusion criteria included mothers who have children under- five years and recorded until July 2025. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with p < 0.05. Results The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between maternal activity (p-value= 0.001), the role of cadres (p-value= 0.004), and family support (p-value= 0.002) with maternal compliance in bringing toddlers to the integrated health service. Conclusion In conclusion, maternal compliance is influenced by a combination of active participation, cadre support, and family involvement. Optimizing the role of cadres and strengthening family support are crucial for increasing maternal participation in integrated healthcare activities.
