Abstract

This research analyzes the interaction of Religious Moderation in Kampung Melayu, Hutagalung, Tarutung District, North Tapanuli Regency. The research used a qualitative method. The results showed that the interaction of custom, or "Dalihan Na Tolu," is thicker in maintaining inter-religious relations in Malay villages, so Christians and Muslims can coexist well. People in Malay villages can also communicate well despite having different beliefs. Communication goes well when people can carry out customs, such as parties. The party understands the situation by providing special food to Muslims. Religious tolerance in Malay Village is not created by Christians and Muslims, but has been created by itself in Malay Village, this is evident when they carry out customary activities or religious celebrations, where Christians really appreciate Islamic religious activities and vice versa Islam is the same.

Abstract

Abstract Verbal violence is a form of violence that has not been very popular in the public sphere but has a tremendous impact when compared to the impact of other violence that is often exposed in the public sphere. Almost all lines of human life and relationships with others often face and even receive verbal violence. It is no exception for a servant of God (Pastor) who deals with the congregation and church institutions. The treatment received from the congregation served and even from the leadership of church institutions often hurts hearts and feelings. In this situation, a servant of God or pastor must keep in mind his duty and calling which must be ready to accept everything, for the sake of service to God. So, the Servant of God or Pastor who is God's messenger entrusted by God to carry out God's mandate on this earth must remain firm in His calling. The mandate or command is to make disciples of all mankind. There is no reason for a servant of God or a pastor to resign just because of the situation at hand. Because, whether the time is good or not, we must be ready to preach His salvation. In his duties and calling, a servant of God (pastor) is entrusted to serve God's people in His church. As the leader of the people, a servant or pastor must make Jesus Christ as the head. God appoints His servants to guard, guide, and teach the people to live according to God's will. Faithfulness to God is the strength of the servants in carrying out the task of service. Even in the task of service, pastors often face challenges, obstacles, and even great suffering. The power of the world is often an enemy for servants of God. However, in the midst of this struggle, servants of God must be strong and courageous. So faithfulness in serving God's work is the character of the servant required from God from the beginning of serving until reaching the finish line.

Abstract

The development of information technology, particularly the internet and social media, has significantly impacted how the Church functions and interacts with its congregation. This transformation is not only technological but also touches upon fundamental theological aspects. This article aims to examine the changes in the meaning, function, and identity of the Church in the context of digitalization, with a focus on comparing the pre-internet and post-internet eras. Through a systematic theological approach, this analysis explores how the Church, as a community of faith and a spiritual organism, must re-understand its existence amidst the increasingly dominant presence of digital media in believers' lives. In the pre-internet era, church life revolved around physical gatherings, conventional liturgies, and direct spiritual authority. However, in the digital age, new forms of ministry have emerged, such as online worship services, virtual communities, and the dissemination of the Word through social media and other digital platforms. These changes offer opportunities to reach a broader audience but also pose serious challenges such as digital individualism, theological distortion, and a crisis of spiritual authority. This article concludes that the Church needs to develop adaptive ministry strategies while remaining faithful to the essence of Christian spirituality. By maintaining a balance between online and offline ministries and strengthening theological understanding amidst the rapid flow of information, the Church can remain relevant and effective in carrying out its mission.

Abstract

Children who do not want to go to school and cannot complete their schooling and cannot finish their schooling or in other words do not get a diploma. There are various reasons why children can drop out of school, such as lack of attention from parents, economic problems, low interest in going to school, helping parents at work, being involved in juvenile delinquency cases, low intelligence levels, socialization and also the school zoning system. The purpose of the observation is to obtain information from the consequences of the child leaving school and to help the child to accept himself that he is a child who dropped out of school, so as not to be inferior and lose hope and convince the client (counselee) that the counselee can return to school and achieve his goals. This observation uses a qualitative method, in this case collecting data about events or phenomena that occur, and using a client-focused approach (psychotherapy that focuses on the client to solve his own problems), the counselor's presence is to listen empathetically and be fully present, and a rational-emotive behavioral therapy approach (an approach that aims to help someone overcome emotional disturbances and think rationally). From the results of the study, pastoral counseling assistance with a client-centered approach and rational emotive behavior therapy can help people who drop out of school not lose confidence, if they see their peers going to school, can open up, be more diligent in worship and more eager to prepare themselves to return to school.

Abstract

GERD anxiety is a combination of GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) or a stomach acid disorder characterized by a burning sensation in the chest and solar plexus area and also a mental disorder called anxiety or anxiety disorder. Apart from medical treatment, GERD anxiety sufferers must receive spiritual treatment. In this case, pastoral counseling can meet the needs of GERD anxiety sufferers in spiritual treatment. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. This research was aimed at a mother who suffered from GERD anxiety for almost two years. The research was carried out using a pastoral counseling process carried out by church ministers during several meetings. The results show that the pastoral counseling approach can complement medical assistance for GERD anxiety sufferers and is an effective aid for recovering sufferers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of pastoral care in motivating the congregation to attend Sunday services at GKPI Simangaronsang Resort Doloksanggul. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The lack of congregation motivation is caused by faith that has not grown, personal problems, economic problems, and conflicts between congregations and with church leaders. The results of the study indicate that the role of pastors and elders in motivating the congregation has not been maximized. Pastoral care such as visits and coaching of the congregation is very important to build motivation and strengthen faith and the relationship between the congregation and the church. Therefore, pastoral care is a vital aspect in church life and the motivation of congregational worship.

Abstract

Basically, God created His creatures perfectly. On the other hand, it turns out that God also created humans who do not have five senses, or incomplete body functions, such as the blind, deaf, physically disabled, even mentally disabled so that they have limitations in carrying out daily activities and are often considered different from others. A person who has physical or mental limitations due to illness or injury is called a disability. Being a person with a disability not only affects the person themselves, but often their families, especially their parents. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of pastoral care for parents who have children with disabilities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The population and sample of this study were parents, namely the father and mother of a child with disabilities in Pamalian village, Sorkam sub-district, Central Tapanuli district. In an effort to provide pastoral counseling assistance with a Client Centered approach to parents who have children with disabilities, there are several approaches taken by the companion, namely, listening, reflecting, explaining, and being fully present. From the research results, pastoral counseling with a client-centered approach can help parents who have children with disabilities understand that what happened to their child is not a mistake or punishment due to sin so that parents can accept their child's condition.

Abstract

Accreditation is a form of assessment or evaluation of the quality and feasibility of an institution of a university or department carried out by an independent organization or body outside of higher education. The department is an academic implementing element that carries out professional education and if qualified can carry out academic education for undergraduate programs and/or postgraduate programs, in a section or one branch of science, technology and/or art. In order to maintain its quality, each department must carry out accreditation or reaccreditation continuously. The Pastoral Counseling Department was established in 2007 but until now the accreditation obtained by this department is still in the "Good" category, even to has undergone two form assessments by National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education. The first in 2014 obtained a grade of "C" (rank 3) and the second in 2021 is still in the 3rd rank position, which is "good." This shows that no improvement has been obtained yet. It is hoped that through this research, leaders will be able to design the ideal pastoral department leadership in accordance with standards in increasing the value of National accreditation.

Abstract

A disability-friendly church is a concrete manifestation of the Christian faith's call to live out God's love in a tangible way in the lives of its congregation. The presence of people with disabilities in society and within church communities is often viewed as a neglected group, both in terms of physical accessibility, opportunities for participation, and involvement in ministry. However, theologically, people with disabilities are also God's creations, possessing the same dignity as other members of the congregation and deserving of equal space in church life. A disability-friendly church means a church that not only provides physical facilities but also fosters an attitude of acceptance, appreciation, and empowerment for people with disabilities so they can contribute to worship, ministry, and congregational life. This study aims to determine the extent of the efforts of the Indonesian Protestant Christian Church (GKPI)in Labuhanbatu, both in the Labuhanbatu Induk and Labuhanbatu Utara regions, in realizing a disability-friendly church as part of the Church's Three Tasks: Marturia (witness), Koinonia (fellowship), and Diakonia (loving service). The Three Tasks of the Church serve as an important benchmark for assessing the church's success in presenting God's love within the congregation, particularly to vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive approach. Thisapproach was chosen because it allowed researchers to understand the experiences, perceptions, and meanings of the participants in depth and context. Data collection techniques included field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation.Eight informants participated in the research: two people wvith disabilities, two family members of people with disabilities, three church ministers, and one synod leader.
