Abstract

The implementation of the value of reading and writing the Qur'an in elementary school children is an important effort in forming a generation that is moral and knowledgeable. The "Road To TPA" activity in Nagari Tanjung Barulak aims to improve the ability to read and write the Qur'an among children through community service methods. This program is implemented with an interactive and fun approach, involving the community and parents in the learning process. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in the ability to read and write the Qur'an of the children involved. In addition, this activity also contributes to the development of children's character, where they learn the ethical and moral values contained in the Qur'an. The involvement of parents and the community is a crucial supporting factor, thus creating a conducive environment for learning. However, this program also faces several challenges, such as variations in learning progress among children and the need for consistency in learning. Therefore, it is advisable to hold a follow-up program that can ensure the sustainability of the literacy skills that have been obtained. Overall, the "Road To TPA" activity shows great potential in increasing Al-Qur'an literacy among elementary school children and can be used as a model for similar activities in other areas.

Abstract

Learning models play a vital role in maximizing educational outcomes. Therefore, it is essential for teachers to thoughtfully select and implement instructional models that align with effective teaching practices. However, the success of any model also relies heavily on the presence of a solid support system, such as well-prepared teaching materials and student books, which help make learning more meaningful and engaging. The development of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) model stems from the necessity to create educational experiences that are not only academically sound but also culturally appropriate, particularly in diverse classroom settings. By embedding local cultural values into lessons, CRT aims to enhance student engagement, reinforce cultural identity, and promote civic understanding. This study aimed to develop a CRT model for use in Pancasila Education that is valid, practical, and effective in improving the learning outcomes of elementary school students in Padangsidimpuan City. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, using the ADDIE model which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study was conducted at MIN 1 Padangsidimpuan, involving fourth-grade students as the sample. Data collection techniques included observation, testing, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed both quantitatively, using SPSS software, and qualitatively. The findings indicate that the CRT model and its supporting materials are highly valid and practical, making them easy for teachers and students to use. Furthermore, the model was found to be very effective based on students' learning outcomes across two test phases.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country rich in culture. Therefore, in elementary school learning, it is very important to introduce their cultures, so that students can preserve them in the future. The objective of this research is to design a valid, practical, and effective ANGKOLA Model for teaching Pancasila and Civic Education to elementary school students in Padangsidimpuan City. This model is designed to integrate local Angkola cultural values in the learning process so that students can understand the material contextually and meaningfully. The research method used is development research with the Plomp model, which consists of several stages, namely initial investigation, design, realization, testing, evaluation, and revision. This research was carried out in three elementary schools located in Padangsidimpuan City, involving fourth-grade students as the research sample. Data collection was carried out through various techniques, including observation, tests, questionnaires, and interviews, to obtain comprehensive information regarding the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the learning model developed. The collected data were examined through both a quantitative and qualitative approach. Findings reveal that the model demonstrates strong validity as confirmed by expert evaluations, offers practical use due to its ease of implementation by both teachers and students, and proves effective in enhancing students’ comprehension of Pancasila and Civic Education content. The model also contributes to improving students' critical thinking skills through an experiential and local culture-based learning approach. The implications of this study indicate that the use of local culture-based learning models can improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the planning, implementation and results of the research grant program of the Research and Community Service Institute at the Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin Sambas Islamic Institute. The research method used is a qualitative research method, ethnographic research type, a Stake model program evaluation approach with stages of antecedents, transactions and outcomes. The research subjects were the Head of LPPM, Head of the LPPM Research Center and Grant Participants. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation and documentation studies. The data analysis techniques used by the Miles and Hubermen model are: data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusions. The research results showed that: 1. The number of participants who took part increased by 50% and the number of participants who passed increased by 250%. It was found that there was still a lack of participation from lecturers and the number of research grant quotas provided by LPPM had not been fulfilled. 2. Program implementation has been 71.43% complete. It was found that each program activity did not comply with the predetermined schedule. 3. Research results in the form of reports and article publications have only reached 28.57%, the other participants have not completed the research with the time allowance of 4 months. 4. There is contingency between input, implementation and results. Because the number of participants who registered did not meet the quota, additional time was given, so the implementation of research activities also experienced a shift so that the research results were completed far from the target time with a gap of 4 months. Overall, the Research Grant Program is very necessary, continued and improved from aspects that are considered dominant.

Abstract

This study delves into the intricate interplay between Islamic epistemology and higher education, examining their roles and challenges in shaping the Islamic identity of students. Grounded in a qualitative approach, the research draws insights from reputable publications to provide a nuanced comprehension of this intersection. Participants from diverse higher education settings, including Islamic nations, contribute to exploring Islamic values' impact on identity formation. The roles of Islamic epistemology in shaping identity emerge as a significant theme, highlighting its versatile influence across academic disciplines. Participants emphasize a profound connection between Islamic values, rooted in the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, and their engagement with knowledge. The integration of these values extends beyond academic pursuits, fostering a holistic understanding of the world and instilling a sense of purpose and ethical responsibility among students. However, challenges within this intersection are evident, with tensions arising from diverse perspectives in academic discourse. The limited representation of Islamic perspectives in curricula poses a universal challenge, impacting students' ability to integrate their Islamic identity into their educational journey fully. The study also explores institutional dynamics, emphasizing the pivotal role of supportive environments in higher education institutions within Islamic nations. In conclusion, the research offers comprehensive insights into the universal roles and challenges within the intersection of Islamic epistemology and higher education, calling for global attention to create inclusive educational environments that respect diverse religious identities, including the Islamic identity of students.
