Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are a complication in patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. Patients with diabetic ulcers feel anxious and burdened economically, socially, and medically. There is an increasing number of diabetic ulcer cases in hospitals globally and nationally. Seeing this fact, it is necessary to know factors that can accelerate wound healing such as diet, medication, and physical activity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between dietary compliance and wound conditions in diabetic ulcer patients. This study was a quantitative study, correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variable was dietary compliance. The dependent variable was the wound condition of diabetic ulcer patients. The study was conducted at Dr. Rehatta Regional General Hospital in June-July 2025. A total of 66 samples were selected through a purposive sampling technique. 66 samples were obtained using the Slovin formula. The inclusion criteria were patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, diabetic ulcer wounds, composmentis, surgical poly patients, able to read or hear and answer questions on the questionnaire. The exclusion criteria were patients with other disease complications. The research instrument used a dietary compliance questionnaire and a Bates Jensen wound assessment tool observation sheet. Data analysis used the Spearman Rho correlation test. The Spearman Rho test results showed a value (p = 0.000; p 0.05). It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between dietary compliance and wound conditions in diabetic ulcer patients. The correlation coefficient value showed a positive correlation direction with a strong category. It is expected that patients with diabetic ulcers can improve compliance in implementing the recommended dietary pattern.Hospitals are expected to always provide motivation and education to diabetes sufferers regarding diabetes, through service activities inside and outside the building such as posbindu, posyandu and home visits.

Abstract

AbstractDiabetes Mellitus (DM) is the mother of all diseases that can "give birth" to various other diseases. DM patients are at risk of diabetic ulcers due to poor blood circulation in the feet. The prevalence of diabetic neuropathy is high in DM patients. The most important DM management program is to normalize blood glucose levels. The study aims to analyze the effect of contrast bath immersion on blood circulation in the diabetic feet. This study uses a quasi-experimental research design using a nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable is contrast bath therapy, and the dependent variable is leg blood circulation. The research was conducted at a private Islamic hospital in Banjarnegara Regency in February 2025. The sample was 18 DM clients for each group determined using a purposive sampling technique according to certain criteria. The instrument used a GEA stethoscope type SF 411 and a GEA MC 20 sphygmomanometer. The intervention group received contrast bath therapy by soaking their feet for 2 minutes in warm water and 1 minute in cold water. Therapy is given 5 times in 15 minutes and 3 days. The control group received standard intervention through 30-degree leg elevation. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed that contrast bath immersion therapy increased blood circulation in the legs with a value of p=0.001 (p0.05). Hospitals need to develop an SOP for contrast bath therapy and apply it to DM clients as an independent nursing intervention that can improve leg’s blood circulation.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a serious public health problem because it is associated with an increased risk of mortality and morbidity. This problem is caused by caregivers' feeding habits, which can affect the nutritional status of toddlers. The impacts that arise if not handled properly will pose a risk of stunted growth and development of toddlers. This research analyses the relationship between feeding behaviour and nutritional status in toddlers. The research design uses correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variable is feeding behaviour, and the dependent variable is the nutritional status of toddlers. This research was conducted in December 2024 in the Dawe Kudus Community Health Center Work Area. A total sample of 71 caregivers was selected using random sampling techniques. The research instruments used the Child Feeding Questionnaire, digital scales, and microtois. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank (rho) test. The research results showed a statistically significant relationship between feeding behaviour and the nutritional status of toddlers, with a value of p = 0.003 (p < 0.05). This feeding behaviour contributes to improving the nutritional status of toddlers, so there is a need for further intervention to improve caregiver behaviour in feeding so that the nutritional status of toddlers is optimal.

Abstract

Background: The nutritional status of toddlers serves as a key marker of their overall health and development, influencing cognitive abilities, immune function, and long-term productivity. Exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months is essential for supporting and enhancing nutritional well-being during early childhood. Nevertheless, public understanding of the critical benefits of exclusive breastfeeding is still limited.Aims: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the nutritional status of toddlers in the working area of Dawe Public Health Center, Kudus Regency. Methods: This study employed a quantitative analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 71 mothers with toddlers were selected through random sampling. Exclusive breastfeeding served as the independent variable, while the toddler’s nutritional status was the dependent variable, measured using the Kartu Menuju Sehat (KMS) growth chart. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires and document analysis, and the results were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. Results: The results of the analysis revealed a statistically significant association between exclusive breastfeeding and toddlers' nutritional status, as evidenced by a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). This suggests that toddlers who were exclusively breastfed were more likely to exhibit better nutritional outcomes. Conclusion: A significant correlation exists between exclusive breastfeeding and the nutritional status of toddlers. Consequently, it is essential to enhance health education efforts for mothers regarding the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. In addition, ongoing support from healthcare providers is crucial to increase awareness and promote better exclusive breastfeeding practices within the community.
