Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the lecturer' perspectives during COVID-19 pandemic in higher education. The participants have consisted of 8 from various universities in Indonesia. In this study, researchers chose narrative analysis as a research approach. A narrative analysis was used to explore lecturer perspectives or views on e-learning based on the practices, challenges, and prospects during COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the lecturers' perspective, the researchers concluded that online learning applications are beneficial for some lecturers to deliver lecture material without face to face, although there are some obstacles such as inadequate internet access. Some campuses provide self-developed applications to facilitate teaching lecturers and provide access to students to study lecture material. Some teachers also used online learning service provider applications or third parties such as Youtube, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom and other online applications. Overall lecturers in universities can use existing learning applications. Efforts are needed to develop further, train, and improve infrastructure facilities to support online learning in the future. Online learning has high prospects and potential to be applied due to its extremely related to technological developments and ever-changing times wherever everything is quick and economical.

Abstract

This paper examines the discourse on disaster governance issues in Indonesia. By focusing on discourse analysis, disaster studies can be viewed with a social science perspective and with a discursive governance approach. This paper is also an alternative to the dominant concept of "disaster management" in the previous studies. The study was conducted by searching for primary data on one keyword, namely "Penanggulangan Bencana" on Twitter with Netlytic application – social media text and social network analyzer. Through schemes of text analysis, social cognition and social analysis, the results of data collection and analysis show the dominance of speech and the role of government and the diverse significance of other actors. This discusses the unorganized "double track policy-making" model and disaster-conscious behavior through an internalized "living with disaster" view.

Abstract

This study will discuss the voting behavior of the Betawi Rempug Forum in the 2019 Indonesian Presidential Election. Studies on voter behavior will never stop as long as Indonesia still adheres to a democratic system, as has happened in the Betawi Rempug Forum (FBR) community organization. FBR is a Betawi community organization which in the presidential election changed its political support for Pak Joko Widodo, while during the 2017 DKI Jakarta governor election, they supported the candidate pair for Governor Anies-Sandi. This is what makes a lot of polemics in the community, even every head of the winning team has an argument with each other regarding this. Therefore, it is important to look at the voting behavior of the Betawi Rembug Forum (FBR) in the 2019 Presidential Election. By using the theory of voter behavior and combining it with qualitative research methods with the type of case study research, it is hoped that this study can be a separate contribution. for the study of social science and political science in Indonesia.

Abstract

Since the fall of the authoritarian system, Indonesia completed the fundamental precondition to democratization through a series of constitutional amendments.  As a young democratic country, Indonesia experienced a divided government for the first time under the administration of Joko Widodo. The Divided government is potentially believed to contribute to democratic breakdown. The objective of this research was to investigate how the divided government occurred and was resolved in Indonesia. The research used a qualitative methodology with a case study approach. The results showed that the divided government in Indonesia occurred because of the implementation of Indonesia’s political system adopting the combination of the presidential and multiparty systems. The divided government in Indonesia did not cause a deadlock or democratic breakdown as Joko Widodo resolved the problem by doing political maneuvers seeking political stabilization.

Abstract

Education and economic growth are closely interrelated. Education enhances individual skills and knowledge, which can increase productivity and promote economic growth. On the other hand, economic growth can increase access to education and other resources needed to improve the quality of education. This study aims to critically review the literature on the relationship between education and economic growth. This study used a literature review method to analyze relevant literature on this topic. The literature analyzed included empirical studies, economic theory, and policy papers. Research findings show that there is a strong positive relationship between education and economic growth. Individuals with higher levels of education generally have higher incomes and are more productive. Countries with higher levels of education also tend to have higher economic growth. The study's findings have important implications for education and economic policy. Increased investment in education can improve individual skills and knowledge, which can promote economic growth and improve people's well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of nonverbal communication in interpersonal relationships, with a focus on gestures, postures, and proxemics (physical distance between individuals). Nonverbal communication, which includes body movements, body language, as well as the use of personal space, has a significant impact on the understanding and dynamics of relationships between individuals. The study uses observation and in-depth interview methods to identify patterns of nonverbal communication in daily interactions. The results showed that gestures, postures, and proxemics can affect the way people respond to and understand each other, thereby strengthening or weakening interpersonal relationships. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the importance of nonverbal elements in building effective and harmonious communication in various social contexts.
