Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this research were to study : (1) socio economic characteristic of dairy goat farmers; (2) entrepreneur’s motivation of dairy goat farmers; (3) dairy goat sustainability business; (4) dairy goat farmer’s strategy to business sustainability; ( (5) correlation between socio economic characteristic and entrepreuneur motivation farmer with dairy goat business sustainability. The research used mix method, there were quantitative and qualitative approach. Respondents of this research were 15 dairy goat farmers, that are variants from small scale business, medium and big scale.  The result of this research showed that : (1) characteristic socio economic of dairy goat farmers has been supported to business sustainability especially from education, age, farming experiences and production facilities; (2) entrepreneur’s motivation was medium category, because dairy goat farmer has business logic it means if it is no longer profitable then switch to mixed business (3) dairy goat sustainability business was medium category the level of business sustainability is not optimal (medium category), because this business has a risk of difficulty in marketing its milk products; (4) the farmers strategy in maintaining this business are : making promotion and increase resellers  in order to increase consumers; (5) there were positive correlation between socio economic with sustainability business (rS  = 0.542) and between entrepreneur motivation with dairy goat sustainability business (rS = 0.572 )

Abstract

Chicken meat, including that from local chickens, is widely consumed by Indonesians. One of the markets where local chicken is purchased in Bandung City is the Gedebage Traditional Market. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of consumer attitudes on purchasing decisions for local chicken at the Gedebage Traditional Market. The research method used is a survey with a quantitative data analysis approach. The research was conducted on March 10 - April 10, 2024, at the Gedebage Traditional Market, Bandung, West Java. Respondents in this study were local chicken buyers who were taken by accidental sampling technique, totaling 97 respondents. The analysis method used is simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that consumer attitudes belonged to the high category with a total percentage of 57.7% and purchasing decisions belonged to the high category with a total percentage of 58.8%. Consumer attitudes have a real influence on purchasing decisions for local chicken, with a regression coefficient value of 0.313. The effect of the independent variable (consumer attitude) on the dependent variable (purchase decision) is 78%, while the remaining 22% is influenced by other variables that are not included in the regression model.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKonservasi Budaya Lokal Mikanyaah Munding sebagai Landasan Village Breeding Center Kerbau adalah penelitian yang dilaksanakan oleh kami terkait dengan bentuk penangkaran kerbau berbasis budaya tradisional, yang dilaksanakan di Desa Cikeusal-Tasikmalaya. Di dalam budaya “Mikanyaah Munding” juga ternyata terdapat pelestarian berbagai seni tradisi Sunda, diantaranya adalah Seni Terbang Gebes. Dalam tulisan ini digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan kajian etnografi, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data digunakan teknik wawancara. Dari pembahasan hasil penelitian diperoleh antara lain; sistem penangkaran kerbau berbasis budaya lokal Mikanyaah Munding, yang di dalamnya terdapat; kebiasaan masyarakat setempat di dalam memperlakukan ternak kerbau, kosa kata khusus terkait dengan peternakan kerbau, hajat lembur yang ada hubungannya dengan peternakan kerbau, dan berbagai bentuk kesenian tradisional Sunda yang dilaksanakan dalam rangka budaya Mikanyaah Munding. Dalam artikel ini akan dibahas salah satu kesenian terkait, yaitu Seni Terbang Gebes.Kata Kunci: Budaya, Mikanyaah-Munding, Seni Terbang GebesABSTRACTConservation of local culture “Mikanyaah Munding” (or Nurturing Buffalos) as the base of Village Breeding Center of “Kerbau” is a research done on traditional “kerbau” breeding in Cikeusal, Tasikmalaya. “Mikanyaah Munding” reserve a variety of Sundanese traditional art performance, one of which is “Seni Terbang Gebes”. This essay uses qualitative method involving ethnography as its perspective. The data is collected from interviews. Our findings from analysis are: the habit of locals in treating their buffalos; specific vocabulary on breeding; festivities in relation to breeding and all kinds of Sundanese traditional art performance included in “Mikanyaah Munding”. This essay discusses one of its art performance, “Seni Terbang Gebes”.Keywords: Culture, Mikanyaah Munding, Seni Terbang Gebes

Abstract

This research discusses the important role of livestock extension workers in enhancing the capacity of farmers to implement sustainable farming systems. Livestock Farming in Indonesia faces serious challenges, such as a decline in resource quality and dependence on conventional practices that are not environmentally friendly. One of the solutions introduced is the Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA) system, which emphasizes the use of local resources and the minimization of external inputs. This research aims to explore the role of extension workers in assisting farmers to understand and adopt LEISA systems through technology transfer and technical guidance. The research method uses literature study with qualitative descriptive analysis, collecting data from various scientific journals, books, and related documents. The discussion results show that the extension worker plays the role of facilitator, motivator, communicator, and consultant. Although there are some limitations in the role of the extension worker as a facilitator and technology transfer agent, the roles of motivator and consultant are already quite effective. Extension workers also play an important role in promoting LEISA, assisting farmers in natural feed management, and utilizing livestock waste for agriculture. With the involvement of extension workers, it is hoped that farmers can increase livestock productivity while maintaining ecosystem balance and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

The study occurred at the South Bandung Livestock Cooperative (KPBS) Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, West Java. The study aimed to find out how extension services contribute to boosting milk output among the member farmers of KPBS Pangalengan. The study used a descriptive approach involving all extension workers assigned to the KPBS Pangalengan extension sub-unit, totaling 7 people. The results of the research showed that Extension plays an important role in increasing the milk production of dairy farmers who are members of KPBS Pangalengan. The role that has been carried out by extension is shown by programs or activities that include: (1) Group assistance and cage checklists, (2) Increasing insight and skills in managing dairy cattle, (3) Providing materials for developing family businesses, and finances, (4) Making posters or leaflets, (5) Listening to radio broadcasts together, (6) Nail cutting services, (7) Training for extension workers, and (8) Provision of milking sanitation facilities. Milk production achieved by farmers showed an increase, an average of 3.14 percent in the last two months, which was originally 59,086 kg in April 2024, increasing to 60,638.28 kg in June 2024.

Abstract

Cooperatives and farmer groups in Indonesia's dairy sector are facing several serious challenges that can threaten their sustainability. One of the main issues is the availability and quality of livestock feed. This literature study aims to analyze and summarize various aspects of the threats to the sustainability of cooperatives and farmer groups caused by feed-related problems in the context of dairy cattle in Indonesia. The research method employed in this study is literature review. This literature study investigates issues related to livestock feed, such as inadequate feed availability, feed prices, and the quality of feed that can affect the productivity and health of dairy cattle. The results of the literature study indicate that uncertainty in feed supply, rising feed prices, and the lack of access to high-quality feed for farmers are the primary threats to the continued operation of cooperatives and farmer groups. Therefore, cooperatives must have a strategy to anticipate threats related to feed issues in order to maintain the sustainability of the cooperative.

Abstract

Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2023 di Perumahan Taman Rahayu, Kecamatan Margaasih, Kelurahan Rahayu, Kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat. Tujuan dilaksanakannya penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis atribut yang dipertimbangkan konsumen di Perumahan Taman Rahayu Kabupaten Bandung terhadap pembelian daging sapi, untuk menganalisis preferensi dan tingkat kepuasan konsumen di Perumahan Taman Rahayu Kabupaten Bandung terhadap atribut dan pembelian daging sapi yang dibeli serta untuk menganalisis pengaruh preferensi dan kepuasan konsumen terhadap keputusan pembelian daging sapi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 78 orang. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu rumah tangga. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Uji Validitas, Uji reliabilitas, Uji Chi Square, Uji Asumsi Klasik, dan Regresi Linier Berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsumen mempertimbangkan warna daging merah cerah, tekstur yang empuk, kandungan lemak yang sedikit, dan bagian khas dalam untuk dibelinya. Konsumen biasanya membeli daging di Pasar Tradisional dengan nilai kepuasan yang tinggi setelah pembelian daging sapi. Preferensi dan kepuasan konsumen secara simultan memiliki pengaruh yang positif terhadap pembelian daging sapi, namun berbeda dengan secara parsial preferensi tidak berpengaruh positif sedangkan kepuasan berpengaruh positif.Kata Kunci: Daging Sapi, Atribut, Konsumen, Preferensi, Kepuasan

Abstract

Chicken meat is rich in protein and moisture, making it susceptible to rapid spoilage when exposed to harmful microorganisms. Therefore, it is essential to maintain high standards of hygiene and service during sales and slaughter processes. This study aims to explore the relationship between the characteristics of broiler chicken traders—such as age, education, business experience, sales volume, and income—and the level of service provided in selling chickens that meet hygienic standards. The research was conducted in September 2024 at Ciroyom Market, located in the Andir District of Bandung City, West Java. Respondents were chosen randomly, resulting in a sample size of 31 individuals. The Spearman Rank correlation test was employed to assess the relationship between the two variables. Findings indicate that most broiler chicken traders fall within the early adulthood age range (15–40 years), possess a medium level of education (junior high to senior high school), have significant business experience (over 10 years), and report a medium sales volume (2,708.40 – 18,736.76 kg/month) along with a medium income (Rp. 4,887,869.25 – Rp. 28,528,259.78/month). The service level of the majority of traders is categorized as medium (64.52%). The characteristics that demonstrate a significant correlation with the service level for selling hygienically slaughtered chickens are education, sales volume, and income, while age and experience do not show a significant correlation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the motivation and performance of dairy farmers and their relationship with the sustainability of the dairy farming business. The research was conducted at Putra Saluyu 1, which included a multi-purpose cooperative Tandangsari with a survey method. The sample used in this study consisted of 60 farmers selected through Simple Random Sampling. The study results showed that the motivation was classified as high (65.0%), and the performance was classified as high (70.0%). There was a significant correlation between motivation and business sustainability with a Spearman's rank correlation coefficient value (rS = 0.464). Moreover, a significant correlation exists between performance and business sustainability with Spearman's rank correlation coefficient value (rS = 0.462).

Abstract

This article discusses effective communication strategies to increase rural community participation in village development. Through a literature review, this article attempts to provide a thorough understanding of how effective communication strategies can help accelerate the process of village development. This article will also cover some important points such as the characteristics of rural communities, the role of communication in rural development, forms of communication in rural communities, and communication strategy factors. Rural communities are characterized by living in groups, most of the communities have similar interests. Development communication has a crucial role in the process of village development. Villagers like to talk directly, communicators can take advantage of this by approaching villagers directly. Delivering messages while villagers are doing their activities such as during gotong royong, village meetings and so on. The best way to convey communication is that there are five important communication components to consider, namely the communicator, Message, Channel, Communicator, Effect. In implementing an effective communication strategy, it is necessary to pay attention to the characteristics of the village community, the role of communication in village development, the form of village community communication, and communication strategy factors.
