Abstract

Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk melakukan kajian sosiologi sastra terhadap novel "Laut Bercerita" karya Leila S. Chudori. Penelitian berasal dari asal-usul atau konteks yang melatarbelakangi keinginan untuk memahami representasi masyarakat dalam karya sastra tersebut serta bagaimana elemen-elemen sosiologis tercermin dalam naratifnya. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis aspek-aspek sosiologis seperti kelas sosial, konflik, dan dinamika hubungan sosial yang terdapat dalam novel. Metode penelitian melibatkan analisis teks sastra dengan fokus pada penggambaran masyarakat, struktur kelas, serta interaksi sosial antar karakter. Hasil analisis mengungkapkan bagaimana novel ini tidak hanya menjadi cermin realitas sosial pada zamannya, tetapi juga menyajikan refleksi mendalam tentang perubahan sosial dan konflik yang dialami oleh masyarakat. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menyoroti kontribusi kajian sosiologi sastra dalam memberikan pemahaman lebih dalam terhadap kompleksitas masyarakat yang dihadapi oleh tokoh-tokoh dalam "Laut Bercerita". Novel tidak hanya sekedar karya sastra, tetapi juga merupakan bentuk kritik sosial yang merespon dan mencerminkan kondisi sosial suatu zaman tertentu. Kajian sosiologi sastra pada novel ini menjadi sarana untuk menggali pemahaman lebih dalam tentang dinamika sosial dan peran sastra dalam merekam serta membentuk pandangan terhadap masyarakat.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendefinisikan dan menjelaskan hubungan antara karya sastra dan budaya. Tujuannya  untuk mengkaji kebermanfaatan novel Negri 5 Menara karya Ahmad Fuadi  sebagai karya sastra yang relevan secara budaya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperjelas bagaimana pembaca memahami dan memaknai karya sastra yang dianalisis menggunakan antropologi sastra. Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kata dan frasa yang berkaitan dengan budaya pesantren yang muncul dalam novel Negri 5 Menara. Teknik pengolahan data yang digunakan dan dilakukan terdiri dari pembacaan cermat, identifikasi, klasifikasi, deskripsi, dan analisis terhadap data yang diteliti dalam konteks penelitian antropologi sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara karya sastra  novel Negri 5 Menara karya Ahmad Fuadi dengan nilai-nilai budaya pesantren. Budaya pesantren yang dianalisis dalam novel  meliputi sistem pendidikan 24 jam, pendalaman ilmu agama Islam, asrama, ketaatan, kesalehan, kemandirian, dan kedisiplinan. Unsur-unsur budaya pesantren seperti kesederhanaan, toleransi, percaya diri, rendah hati, berani, bersatu, jujur, istikama, kebersamaan, dan kebersihan juga terdapat dalam novel berlatar belakang pesantren.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan (1) bentuk resistensi simbolik ditinjau dari mimikri dalam novel Di Tepi Kali Bekasi karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer., serta (2) bentuk resistensi simbolik ditinjau dari seni, bahasa, simbol nasional, simbol lisan, dan senjata tradisional dalam novel Di Tepi Kali Bekasi karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Metode yang digunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan data dari novel Di Tepi Kali Bekasi karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer (cetakan kedua, Balai Pustaka, 340 halaman). Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik baca-catat dan dianalisis dengan reduksi, penyajian, serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasilnya menunjukkan resistensi simbolik mencakup: (1) Mimikri, berupa peniruan bahasa, pakaian, kebiasaan, senjata, dan teknologi penjajah untuk mengungguli sekaligus mengejek sebagai wujud mempertahankan identitas budaya; (2) Resistensi melalui seni, seperti musik, simbol nasional seperti bendera merah putih, bahasa, serta senjata tradisional yang tetap dipertahankan. Dapat disimpulkan Novel Di Tepi Kali Bekasi karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer menampilkan resistensi simbolik dan pentingnya perlawanan non-kekerasan untuk merebut kedaulatan bangsa. Abstract

The researcher’s search in the field is expected that the listeners and chanters of dzikir appreciate the contents of Dikili that are chanted. But in reality, many people let the dzikir singers because they do not understand what the value and meaning contained in Dikili, therefore. The study seeks to depict the community’s perception of local wisdom value symbols in the Dikili tradition of Patilanggio. District utilizing qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The sources of data are the Dikili singers and respondents. The study revealed a nearly equal distribution of community acceptance towards the significance of the symbol of local wisdom’s value in the Dikili tradition of Patilanggio subdistrict with 54,59% agreeing and 45,41% disagreeing, the influential factors that affected the community’s acceptance of the meaning and value of local wisdom in the mentioned tradition were their level of knowledge and age. The study’s findings indicate that the residents of Patilanggio subdistrict mostly concur regarding the symbolism and local wisdom values

Abstract

Chandra Bientang’s novel Batu Berkaki (2024) depicts society’s struggle to deal with environmental damage triggered by human greed and efforts to restore the balance of nature through moral values and ecological awareness. This study examines the representation of environmental exploitation and environmental ethics in the novel. Specifically, the study aims to (1) describe forms of environmental exploitation based on Garrard’s perspective, and (2) describe forms of environmental ethics based on Keraf’s perspective. The study uses Garrard’s ecocritical theory as a basis for examining the relationship between humans and nature in literary works, and Keraf’s environmental ethical theory to explain the moral values that guide humans in preserving the environment. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The research data consists of excerpts from the novel Batu Berkaki that depict acts of exploitation and ethical behavior towards the environment. Data sources come from the main novel and are supported by relevant theoretical references. Data collection techniques are carried out through reading and note-taking, while data analysis includes systematic reduction, classification, description, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed 42 data representing environmental exploitation, consisting of pollution (11 data), wilderness (8 data), natural disasters (1 data), residence (11 data), animals (7 data), and the earth (4 data). In addition, 19 data were found related to environmental ethics which include respect for nature, responsibility, solidarity, compassion, the principle of no harm, a simple and harmonious life towards nature, the principle of justice, the principle of democracy, and the principle of moral integrity. These findings confirm that the novel Batu Berkaki not only highlights ecological damage, but also offers moral values as a foundation for sustainable environmental recovery and supports the interests of the ecosystem.

Abstract

Drama script is a text that contains dialogue with descriptions of the characters in it. This study aims to describe (a) the behavior of the protagonist (b) the behavior of the antagonist and (c) its implications in learning literature in schools. A descriptive qualitative approach is utilized. Using words or images to describe the phenomena of the actions of the existing protagonist and antagonist characters. Characters' actions in passages from Putu Wijaya's "Bila Malam Bertambah Malam" (a play) and classroom instruction in literature served as the basis for the study. Data collection techniques were taking notes, reading repeatedly, and observing at school. The data analysis technique used qualitative descriptive, by studying the drama script of the protagonist and antagonist characters and literature learning in schools. The results of the study showed that (1) the behavior of the protagonist depicted in the drama script "Bila Malam Bertambah Malam" in the character Nyoman has a helpful, patient, sincere and good behavior (2) the behavior of the antagonist in the character Gusti Biang has a rude, arrogant, inhumane, and immoral behavior. In addition, in its implications for literature learning in schools, it can be done using the literature teaching method.

Abstract

Mysticism is a teaching or belief that states the existence of a supreme reality that cannot be reached by human reason and can only be obtained through direct spiritual experience. This research was conducted by describing: 1) the existence of mysticism in the short story collection Hilang dalam Emkapan Semeru by RJL5-Fajar Aditya; 2) the motif of mysticism in the short story collection Hilang dalam Emkapan Semeru by RJL5-Fajar Aditya. This research uses the study of mysticism by Niels Mulder. The type of research used is qualitative with descriptive analysis method. The data of this research are in the form of quotes, sentences, and paragraphs that describe the existence and motif of mysticism. The data source is the short story collection Hilang dalam Emkapan Semeru by RJL 5-Fajar Aditya. The research data were collected and analyzed by reading, identifying, classifying data, recording, coding using observation guide sheets involving time triangulation. The results of the study show: 1) the existence of mysticism is divided into three aspects, namely material existence (sacred media such as objects considered to have mystical powers), spiritual existence (outward and inner mystical core as the starting point and goal), and moral existence (respect for the hierarchy of norms for noble harmony); 2) the motive of mysticism as a personal desire for worldly satisfaction, is divided into positive motives (good intentions, religious such as salvation or healing), and egoistic motives (black magic, pesugihan, mystical rituals, which are contrary to divine will. Overall, the short story Lost in Semeru's Embrace by RJL 5-Fajar Aditya not only represents mystical phenomena in climbing, but also contains moral messages about courage, solidarity, and respect for nature.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and develop effective learning strategies in language and literature education to enhance students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Using a qualitative approach through library research, this study synthesizes recent scholarly works from reputable international journals indexed in Scopus published within the last five years. The analysis focuses on identifying key strategies, challenges, and research gaps in implementing HOTS-oriented learning in language and literature classrooms. The findings reveal that conventional teacher-centered approaches remain dominant and are insufficient to foster higher-level cognitive skills such as analysis, evaluation, and creation. In contrast, constructivist learning strategies—such as Problem-Based Learning, Project-Based Learning, and critical literacy approaches—demonstrate significant effectiveness in promoting HOTS. Furthermore, integrating digital technologies, including interactive media and digital storytelling, enhances student engagement and supports the development of critical and creative thinking skills. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including limited teacher competency in designing HOTS-based instruction, inadequate learning resources, and constraints related to curriculum implementation. Addressing these issues requires a comprehensive and integrative instructional model that combines critical literacy, project-based learning, and digital technology. This study contributes to the existing literature by proposing a holistic, context-based framework for language and literature learning that aligns with 21st-century educational demands. The findings are expected to provide practical implications for educators and policymakers in improving the quality of learning and fostering students’ higher-order thinking skills in a globalized educational context.
