Abstract

As the majority religion, Islam in Indonesia is not directly proportional to Islamic values which should be displayed in the form of daily behaviour. Therefore, internalizing Islamic values, especially in the learning process in higher education, is of paramount important. Internalization of Islamic values is an aspect that is often overlooked in learning discussions, particularly in online learning. The issues raised in online learning discussions are more about methods and approaches in the learning process and very rarely to touch on the value aspect. In the context of Muhammadiyah higher education (PTM), instilling Islamic values as the core of its character education is a challenge for lecturers and students. In particular, those who live in urban areas which are full of challenges. This study explores challenges in internalizing Islamic values in digital learning at Muhammadiyah affiliated universities. Class observations and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 lecturers at three Muhammadiyah affiliated universities in Yogyakarta to garner an understanding of the internalization process and the challenges faced in this process. Data analysis was carried out using thematic analysis from Braun and Clarke. This study delineates that the process of internalizing Islamic values in the universities was still limited to the level of transformation and value transactions and has not yet touched on trans-internalization of values. This is because there are four main challenges faced, namely technical, pedagogical, psychological and semantic challenges. The implications and factors related to these four challenges are discussed in more depth in this paper.

Abstract

Mina Sida Karya Fish Cultivation Group (POKDAKAN) operates in Sidamulih Village, Rawalo District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, employing an extensive, traditional fish farming system that yields low productivity. This group faces four significant challenges that necessitate attention: (1) Insufficient knowledge and skills among partners in intensive gourami fish farming management to enhance POKDAKAN Mina Sida Karya's productivity; (2) Lack of a consistent water supply for cultivation throughout the year; (3) Limited knowledge in producing cost-effective natural and artificial feed; (4) Inadequate expertise in marketing partner products, resulting in a restricted market reach. Addressing these challenges, service activities have been implemented using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA).  These include (1) providing assistance and training in intensive gourami fish farming management to boost cultivation productivity; (2) drilling boreholes up to 75 meters deep to secure a year-round water source; (3) conducting training sessions on independent feed production, both artificial and natural Daphnia sp., enabling partners to generate their own feed; (4) establishing digital branding systems through social media platforms to expand market presence. This aims to increase the productivity of the Mina Sida Karya Fish Farming Group. The activities that have been carried out have significantly impacted the Mina Sida Karya POKDAKAN with a percentage of 57.14% of participants stating that they have sufficient knowledge about intensive osphronemus gouramy fish farming, 61.90% stating that they have no difficulty in obtaining water supply, 52.38% stating that they know how to produce efficient and cost-effective natural feed, and 66.67% stating that they are satisfied with the market reach of fish products.

Abstract

Islamic revival movement is a religious movement which is discussed by many lately. The idea of the revival movement is to restore the text to the ideological character of the static, ahistorical, very exclusive, textualist and patriarchal bias. This article seeks to reveal the thoughts of the Islamic revival movement in Indonesia. The method used in this study is both descriptive-critical analysis by collecting existing data, and then describes and analyzes the critical-analytical approach. This study sought to prove that any product of religious thought is influenced by the background surrounding the birth of a religious movement. Therefore, the product should always be open to ideas and have not to criticize scared, considering he was a relative and construction human nature alterntative. In addition, research is also intended to do a 'criticism' and then look for creative synthesis of the methodologies and typologies that exist on the thinking of the religious movement of Islamic revivalism studied. Synthesis results are expected to be contribution to knowledge in religious thought in the contemporary era, especially in Indonesia. Based on the theoretical framework of a typology of religious thought, through critical approaches-analysis concluded that there are at least four typologies of religious thought in the contemporary era, namely: quasi-objectivist typologies traditionalist, revivalist quasi-objectivist, subjectivist and typology typhology quasi-modernist objectivist. This revival movements embracing quasi-objectivist revivalist typology is a genuine understanding of the religion. In the sense of a genuine understanding of the religion they are referring to is an understanding of the return of religion to the ideological character of the static, ahistorical, very exclusive, tektualis and patriarchal bias. According to their religion in the present era must be understood according to the age where religion is lowered regardless of the context in the present era. So the weakness that emerges is the product exegetical interpretation of a text which tends to linear- atomistic in interpreting the text of the Qur'an and ignore contextualization text. Though the text (al-Qur'an) must be understood within their context so that text can be explained. Thus the principle of al-Quran compatibility in all times and contexts can be proven.

Abstract

One of the Islamic thought movement in Indonesia is Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). A special case of this is the view of the Islamic movement. This movement represents an inclusive view of Islamic-revivalist. Ideas offered are issues of Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic countries, rejecting the idea of religious freedom, against the secular State system, against the freedom of thought, as well as reviving the spirit of the "courage of the Jihad". This movement supports the application of Islamic Sharia law on the whole life of the community in the joint. So the weakness that emerged was a product of the interpretation of the text exegetic which is inclined to be linear otomistic in interpreting the text of the Qur'an and ignoring the contextualization of text. The features of the understanding models toward the text of the Qur'an possessed by the revivalist movement is that the understanding of the text of the Qur'an purely. In the sense of understanding of the Qur'an purely, they refer to the static ideological character of the understanding of the Qur'an, ahistoris, very inclusive, textual and patriarchy bias. Whereas texts (the Qur'an) should be understood in line with the context so that the text can talk. Thus the notion stating that Qur'an is compatible for all ages and places can be proven.

Abstract

The phenomenon of non-Muslim leaders in Indonesia has given pros and cons in society. Those pros and cons do not only appear among the general public but also appear among students. This study analyzes the views of Muslim students at ‘Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta (UNISA) about the phenomenon of non-Muslim leaders in Indonesia. This research became important considering the last two issues that have emerged in the study of Islam in Indonesia, namely religious intolerance and moderation in few years. The type of this research is mixed qualitative-quantitative field research. The research findings show that there are two kinds of views of UNISA Muslim students about non-Muslim leaders; First, Muslim students who disagree about non-Muslim leaders. They argue that choosing a leader must be based on his/her religion first. This group believed that Islam is the main non-negotiable requirement for someone who wants to run for a leader. Some of them even firmly stated that choosing a non-Muslim leader is categorized as haram. Second, Muslim students agree and do not object to the existence of non-Muslim leaders. The second group believed that religion is not an absolute issue as the requirement for a person who wants to become a leader. This second group argues that track records are more important than religion or ethnicity. The educational background of students also influences their views. Students with religious education backgrounds tend to be more accepting of differences. On the other hand, students who have a general educational background tend not to easily accept differences. Therefore, it can be concluded that the better a person understands religion, the more tolerant of differences he/she will be.

Abstract

The Liberal Islamic Network (JIL) has a unique and interesting understanding of religious texts, including Hadith. One of the themes that will be examined in this article is about its interpretation of misogynistic hadith. The question is why does JIL have a different reading of the misogynistic hadith? The purpose of writing is to find a female-friendly understanding of the hadith.. This research is a library research; the approach used is descriptive-critical analysis with qualitative methods, the theory used is mubadalah; data collection is done by exploring library data, both published in the form of books or articles by JIL which can be accessed at www.islamlib.com. The results of the study show that in JIL view, interpreting the hadith text is not enough just by looking at the sound and quality of the text alone. However, in understanding a hadith it is very important to consider rationality and logic. According to JIL, rationality and logic will help determine the objectivity of understanding a hadith. For JIL, Maqashid Al-Shari'ah is the first source of law in Islam and then followed in tandem by the Qur'an and Al-Sunnah. For JIL, Maqashid Al-Syari'ah is the core of the totality of Islamic teachings. This research recommendation for preachers, religious figures, household leaders, that in reading and understanding hadith is not enough with just one approach, but it requires integration of knowledge, including the mubadalah approach that contains the principles of humanity. Hadith is not enough to be understood only textually and bayani oriented, it needs another approach that is more rational-contextual (burhani) and friendly-wise (irfani).

Abstract

The issue of radicalism has become a serious topic in recent years. The issue of radicalism is not only studied at the national level, but also receives a lot of attention at the global level. Radicalism seems to be considered as a virus endangering humanity. Printed and electronic media are allegedly one of the most effective methods of disseminating the understanding of radicalism. The study examines the characteristics of the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an in Islamic sites which are indicated to adhere to radicalism. The study also examines the extent of the implications of interpreting the verses of the Qur'an in Islamic sites against the spread of the thoughts of radical Islam in Indonesia. The study is included in the library research category with a media analysis approach. The study focuses on interpreting the verses of the Qur'an embraced in Islamic sites in Indonesia. The research is qualitative in nature. From the analysis carried out on five Islamic sites in Indonesia, four interpretive criteria have been found, namely: interpretation as a mean of ideological legitimacy; loss of contextualization of verses; jihadist interpretations campaign; and the typology of revivalist subjectivists in the typology of interpretation. Thie study concludes that media, both printed and electronic, can influence and change the paradigm of thinking that it can move certain people or groups of people to act or behave in a certain way. Thus, it is obvious that the interpretations of the Qur'an in the Islamic sites indicated as radical can have an influence on the spread of radical Islam.
