Abstract

This research is a research on the development and utilization of peat soil material that is often found in the Humbang Hasundutan district, where peat soil that has been stabilized with lime can later become new soil parameter data that can be used for road subgrade construction improvements. The purpose of this study was to stabilize the Humbang Hasundutan peat soil mixed with lime to meet the standards for road subgrade construction, which will be tested with the California Bearing Ratio (CBR). This study used experimental methods carried out in the laboratory, by conducting tests to obtain new soil parameter data by trying variations of 10%, 20% and 30% initial lime. From the results obtained, the results of the CBR test of peat soil with a lime mixture variation of 20% have met the specifications of Highways for road construction subgrade, which is 5.5%.

Abstract

The Community Service Program entitled “Improving Product Quality and Production Technology Training for Onion Crackers to Increase the Income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency” was implemented to address issues related to low product quality and inefficient production processes among partner MSMEs. Field observations identified several problems, including manual production methods, inconsistent product quality, and limited packaging and marketing strategies. The implemented solutions included training in the use of simple production technologies such as dough mixer machines, automatic cutters, and controlled-temperature frying. In addition, participants received training in modern packaging and digital marketing through social media platforms. The program outcomes indicated increased production efficiency, more consistent product quality, and wider market reach. The partners showed strong enthusiasm in applying the introduced technologies, and the program successfully met its intended objectives.

Abstract

General Background: Digital literacy has become essential for students to navigate, evaluate, and create information in today’s technology-driven learning environments. Specific Background: At MTsN 3 Langkat, class VIII Informatics students traditionally rely on teacher-led instruction, with limited opportunities to independently source and transform information. Knowledge Gap: Despite the proliferation of e-learning tools, little is known about how digital literacy–based e-modules affect both learner motivation and academic performance in middle-school Informatics. Aims: This Classroom Action Research (CAR) investigation examined whether implementing a digital literacy–focused e-module could enhance motivation and learning outcomes among eighth-grade Informatics students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Results: Over successive CAR cycles—comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection—students demonstrated notable gains in engagement and achieved higher assessment scores. Novelty: This study uniquely combines e-module design with collaborative knowledge construction through student-driven information sourcing. Implications: Findings suggest that integrating digital literacy frameworks into e-module development can foster deeper learner engagement and improve Informatics achievement in similar educational contexts. Highlights: Emphasizes digital literacy integration through self-guided e-modules. Utilizes cyclical CAR stages (planning, action, observation, reflection). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran materi Daya Dukung Pondasi menggunakan media pembelajaran Macromedia Flash 8 dan handout dalam penerapan proses pembelajaran.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) yang dilakukan dengan pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis multimedia video yang menggunakan prosedur penelitian 4D yang telah dimodifikasi menjadi 3 tahap yaitu, tahap pendefinisian, tahap perancangan dan tahap pengembangan. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi ahli media, lembar validasi ahli materi, evaluasi uji praktis dosen pengampu dan mahasiswa, evaluasi uji keefectifan mahasiswa kepada 30 mahasiswa D3 Teknik Sipil Sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu (1) tahap pendefinisian, menganaliasa materi daya dukung pondasi pada mata kuliah Teknik Pondasi, mengidentifikasi potensi/masalah, dan pengumpulan data (2) tahap perancangan, kegiatan studi yang dilakukan sebelum menentukan konsep desain produk awal media pembelajaran menggunakan Macromedia Flash 8 (3) tahap pengembangan, evaluasi dan dinilai oleh beberapa tim ahli, tahapan ini bertujuan untuk meneliti validasi media pembelajaran, materi program pembelajaran dan kualitas pembelajaran, tahapan yang dtempuh yaitu: validasi ahli media, validasi ahli materi, uji praktis, dan uji efectifitas. Berdasarkan validasi dari para ahli, dosen pengampu dan mahasiswa  dapat disimpulkan bahwa Kelayakan media pembelajaran berbasis multimedia diketahui berdasarkan validasi penilaian ahli materi, ahli media dengan skala sangat baik sehingga dinyatakan valid dan layak untuk digunakan, dan untuk uji praktis  yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dan dosen pengampu  berskala baik dan dinyatakan praktis untuk digunakan serta penilaian kemampuan mahasiswa memahami suatu konsep materi dinyatakan efectif dalam pembelajaran mata kuliah Teknik Pondasi pada materi daya dukung pondasi. Kata Kunci: Daya Dukung, Handout, Media Pembelajaran, Macromedia Flash 8, Pondasi

Abstract

Kebutuhan akan bahan ajar yang mampu memfasilitasi dan membimbing mahasiswa untuk belajar mandiri, memudahkan mahasiswa untuk menemukan dan memahami konsep dengan benar sebagai latar belakang penelitian ini. Buku-buku teks belum dapat membantu mahasiswa memahami dan mengingat konsep-konsep matematika dengan baik. Oleh karena itu, Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa berbasis penemuan terbimbing (guided discovery learning) pada materi matriks dikembangkan. Setelah LKM dikembangkan maka dilihat efektifitas penggunaan LKM tersebut pada proses perkuliahan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan teknik bangunan universitas negeri medan yang mengampu matakuliah matematika teknik dasar. Berdasarkan analisis diperoleh bahwa persentase posttest lebih besar dari persentase pretest ( 66,67 > 30, 95% ) dan berada pada kriteria Baik. Ini berarti bahwa bahan ajar (LKM) berbasis penemuan terbimbing (guided discovery learning dinyatakan efektif untuk digunakan.Kata Kunci: Efektifitas, Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa, Penemuan TerbimbingABSTRACT The need for teaching materials that are able to facilitate and guide students for independent learning makes it easier for students to find and understand concepts correctly as the background of this research. Text books have not been able to help students understand and remember mathematical concepts well. Therefore, a concept of œStudent Work Sheet (SWS) based on guided discovery learning on matrix material was developed. After the SWS has been developed, it has shown the effectiveness of the use of the SWS in the learning process. The subjects of this study were students of Building Engineering Education Study Program at the State University of Medan that were able to study basic engineering mathematics courses. Based on the analysis it was found that the percentage of post-test was greater than the percentage of pretest (66.67% > 30.95%) and was filed in the Good criteria. This means that SWS based on guided discovery learning is declared effective for use.Keywords: Effectiveness, Guided Discovery Learning, Student Worksheet

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku ajar statistika berbasis konstruktivistik dan mengukur kelayakannya dalam meningkatkan penalaran induktif mahasiswa pendidikan teknik bangunan. Pada umumnya mempelajari materi statistika memerlukan kemampuan penalaran induktif dalam memecahkan masalah dalam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development). Prosedur penelitian ini mengacu pada model pengembangan Borg & Gall yang diadptasi dari model Dick & Carey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar statistika berbasis konstruktivistik memenuhi kriteria layak digunakan pada pembelajaran statistika digunakan dalam rangka meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran induktif mahasiswa yang merupakan hasil belajar yang ingin dicapai setelah pembelajaran statistika di kelas berakhir, ditunjukkan oleh penilaian ahli dan praktisi, uji coba satu-satu, uji coba kelompok kecil, dan uji coba kelompok besar.Kata Kunci: Buku Ajar, Kelayakan, Penalaran Induktif, StatistikaABSTRACT This research aims to develop the textbook of statidtics based on the constructivist and measure its feasibility in increasing the studrnt's inductive ressoning from aducation of building engineering. In general, studying statistics material requires inductive reasoning skills in solving the problems in the context of daily life. The type of research that is done is research and development. This research procedure refers to the development model of Borg & Gall that are adapted of the model from Dick & Carey. The subject of this research are the students from education of bulding engineering that take the subject of statistics. The result shows that the textbook of statistics based on constructivist fulfill the criteria for proper to be used in the learning statistics that is used in order to increase the ability of the student's inductive reasoning that is the result of study that want to be achieved after learning statistics in the clas has ended, demonstrated by thd judgment of expert and practitioner, the trial for one-on-one, the trial for small group and the trial for large group.Keywords: Feasibility, Inductive Reasoning, Statistics, Textbook

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kelayakan buku proyek Teknik Geoteknik berbantuan aplikasi Plaxis 2D yang berfungsi sebagai peningkatan hard skill bagi mahasiswa dalam menerapkan konsep pembelajaran Teknik Geoteknik dengan Aplikasi Komputer. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan Research and Development dengan model pengembangan Borg and Gall. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Teknik Sipil yang mengambil mata kuliah Teknik Geoteknik dengan Aplikasi Komputer dan objek penelitian ini adalah buku proyek yang akan divalidasi oleh 2 validator (media dan bahan) dan 1 dosen praktikum. Dari ketiga uji kelayakan yang telah dilakukan, dan yang telah diperoleh hasil menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar tersebut layak untuk dikembangkan dan praktis untuk digunakan sebagai upaya memunculkan hard skill di bidang geoteknik.Kata Kunci: Geoteknik, Hard Skill, Plaxis 2D ABSTRACT This study aims to prioritize the Geotechnical Engineering project book with the help of the Plaxis 2D application which functions as an increase in skills for students in applying the concepts of Geotechnical Engineering learning with Computer Applications. This research method uses Research and Development with the Borg and Gall development model. The subjects of this research are Civil Engineering students who take Geotechnical Engineering courses with Computer Applications and the object of this research is a project book that will be validated by 2 validators (media and materials) and 1 practicum lecturer. Abstract

Background: Vocational learning in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, and Work Culture requires instructional approaches that emphasize procedural understanding, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills. However, learning practices in many vocational schools still rely on conventional media, resulting in limited student engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes.Aims: This study aimed to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based e-book and examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness as an instructional solution for K3LH and Work Culture learning.Methods: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The e-book was designed by integrating authentic workplace problems, visualized safety procedures, structured PBL stages, and performance-based assessments. Validation was conducted by material, media, and instructional design experts. Product testing included individual trials, small-group trials, and field implementation. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by an independent samples t-test.Results: The e-book demonstrated high validity, with a material expert score of 95.60%. Practicality testing showed very high ratings from teachers (96.67%) and students (94.89%). Effectiveness analysis indicated a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups (t = 5.79 > tₜₐᵦₗₑ = 2.00). The findings suggest that the e-book improves safety-oriented understanding and work attitudes, although advanced practical skills require additional simulation support.Conclusion: The PBL-based e-book is an effective instructional medium that enhances active learning and improves learning outcomes in vocational education, particularly in K3LH and Work Culture.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving is a fundamental competence for civil engineering students, as it underpins their ability to analyze and address engineering-related challenges. However, current instructional practices in higher education remain largely procedural and insufficiently integrate digital technologies and meaningful contexts, making it difficult for students to connect abstract mathematical concepts with real-world engineering applications. This condition often leads to low engagement and limited development of critical thinking skills. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an Ethno-STEAM-based digital mathematics learning model in enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed using the Borg and Gall model adapted from Dick and Carey. The findings indicate significant improvements in analytical skills, understanding of integral concepts, engagement, and critical thinking. These results suggest that the Ethno-STEAM approach provides a more contextual, interactive, and relevant learning experience, while supporting the development of 21st-century competencies in engineering education.
