Abstract

The prevailing paradigm today emphasizes economic growth measured through human development rather than solely through per capita income. Enhancing welfare and improving the quality of life for communities are the ultimate goals of economic development. Achieving these objectives requires substantial efforts that avoid bias related to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, and class. However, in practice, these efforts often overlook issues of equality and justice, reflected in the differing roles of men and women as both agents and beneficiaries of development. This study aims to investigate the impact of average years of schooling, average wages, and labor force participation rates on the Gender Development Index across 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2013 to 2022. The analysis methods employed include model fit testing, classical assumption testing, panel data linear regression, partial (t-test) and simultaneous (F-test) hypothesis testing, as well as coefficient determination using Eviews. The findings reveal that average years of schooling and average wages have a positive and significant effect on the Gender Development Index, while labor force participation rates do not significantly impact the Gender Development Index.

This study aims to analyze the effect of budget deficit, tax revenue, and labor force participation rate on economic growth in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). Using a quantitative approach with panel data from 2014 to 2023, the analysis was conducted through regression models using the Random Effect Model approach. The results indicate that the budget deficit has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. In contrast, tax revenue and labor force participation rate have a negative but insignificant effect. Simultaneously, all three variables influence economic growth in BRICS countries. These findings highlight the critical role of fiscal policy in supporting economic development in the region.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of government expenditure, budget deficit, trade balance, and exchange rate on external debt in Indonesia and Thailand. The method used is the Error Correction Model (ECM) with annual time series data from 1994 to 2023. The results show that in Indonesia, the trade balance has a significant negative effect on external debt in the short term, while government expenditure, budget deficit, and exchange rate have no significant effect. Meanwhile, in Thailand, the budget deficit has a significant positive effect, the trade balance has a significant negative effect, and the exchange rate has a significant negative effect on external debt. These findings imply that fiscal policy and external sector conditions play an important role in the dynamics of external debt in both countries.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of education (average years of schooling), Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), and economic growth on the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Sumatera and Java Islands during the 2015–2024 period. The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results indicate that education and economic growth have a negative and significant effect on the unemployment rate, implying that improvements in these variables help reduce unemployment. Conversely, ICT has a positive and significant impact, suggesting potential job displacement due to labor force unpreparedness in facing digital transformation. Similarly, the UMP variable also has a positive effect, showing that wage increases without corresponding labor productivity may lead to higher unemployment. This study recommends policy strategies that enhance education quality, ICT-based workforce training, and inclusive economic development to effectively reduce unemployment rates.

Abstract

This research investigates the effects of education, health, technology, and wage factors on the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) across provinces in Sumatra Island from 2014 to 2024. The explanatory variables include Expected Years of Schooling (EYS), Life Expectancy (LE), the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (ICTDI), and the Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW). Secondary data sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics were analyzed using panel data regression, employing the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) via Eviews 12 software. The empirical results indicate that EYS has a positive yet statistically insignificant relationship with LFPR. LE exerts a positive and significant influence, suggesting that improved public health fosters greater participation in the labor market. ICTDI demonstrates a negative and significant effect, implying that technological advancement may substitute labor in certain sectors. PMW shows a positive but insignificant association with LFPR. Collectively, the four variables significantly explain variations in LFPR, with an R-squared value of 82.73%. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing public health, ensuring equitable access to technology, and implementing well-targeted education and wage policies to strengthen labor force participation in Sumatra.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has a serious impact on the quality of human resources (HR) and long-term economic growth. Mesuji Regency is one of the areas with a relatively high stunting prevalence rate in Lampung Province. This study aims to analyze the role of the Office of Population Control and Family Planning (PPKB) in the implementation of stunting prevention policies in Mesuji Regency, evaluate its implementation, and identify program success indicators. The research method used is qualitative with a policy evaluation approach using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The results show that the PPKB Office has a strategic role as a cross-sector coordinator in the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS), an implementer of educational programs such as Bina Keluarga Balita (BKB), and regional innovations such as the Community Movement Against Stunting (GEBERMAS). Evaluation of the implementation indicated good achievements in the context and input aspects, marked by regulatory support, leadership commitment, and adequate budget allocation. However, challenges remain, including limited human resources, unequal basic facilities, and suboptimal coordination among government agencies. The decrease in the number of stunted children from 1,456 in 2022 to 1,083 in 2023 demonstrates the positive impact of the implemented policies. Strengthening cross-sector coordination, improving the availability of supporting facilities, and increasing community participation and awareness are essential to ensure the sustainability of stunting prevention programs.

Abstract

Violence against children still often occurs in the city of Surabaya. Families still face obstacles in solving problems due to parents' lack of understanding in caring for children. Families need a place for consultation and support as well as learning processes so that the scope of the family can be maximized. The Surabaya city government is trying to protect children. One of the efforts of the Surabaya City Government is that the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) has the best Family Learning Center (PUSPAGA) program. PUSPAGA services are under the auspices of the Surabaya City Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (DP3APPKB) Service. PUSPAGA Surabaya City is present in the community for those who need services related to family problems, including childcare information. The aim of this research is to find out how the PUSPAGA program is evaluated in efforts to prevent child violence in DP3APPKB Surabaya (Counseling Service Case Study). This study uses a qualitative method. The theory used belongs to the PUSPAGA Program using Ripley's 7 evaluation indicators (Purwanto & Sulistyastuti, 2012), namely access, coverage, frequency, bias, service delivery, accountability, suitability of the program to needs. The PUSPAGA program for Surabaya City Counseling services has been running well in every indicator. Even so, the Surabaya City Government should be more proactive in informing the public about the existence of PUSPAGA services in the City of Surabaya.
