Abstract

Lighting is one of the important aspects in the interior of a retail shop. With adequate and even distribution of light as well as high-selling image, the products will look more interesting that consumers will be attracted to see them. This research was conducted to study that issue but will limit the discussion on artificial lighting.The research used quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative method was done by measuring the data in the field, questionnaire and optimization of artificial lighting whereas the qualitative method by literature, observation, interview and photo documentation. Analysis is done descriptively by comparing state of the field, literature and simulation. The result shows that the light distribution during the day is still less uniform than at night. Artificial lighting optimization was done by creating simulations with DIALux 4.7. program in 3 scenarios. The final scenario has already met the standard. Results of questionnaire and interview shows that lighting in Domus Furniture and Home Decor affect the selling image, because artificial lighting in the interior of Domus Furniture and Home Decor looks attractive, bright and the products are also more visible from the outside

Abstract

Lighting is one of the important factors in interior design. The role of lighting does not only provide light, but also accentuates the aesthetic and the atmosphere of a room. It can also affect the image of the interior space. The purpose of this research is to analyze and find an optimal lighting design as a solution by using Banana Republic Boutique in Surabaya as the case.The methods used are qualitative and quantitative. The first step was observing and measuring the data in the field, using a Luxmeter to recognize the illumination rate of the room. The second step was  distributing questioners and doing an interview to know the visual comfort. The third step was doing a simulation with DIALux v.4.7 program. Finally, the result will be verified with the literature.The research shows that the field measurement using Luxmeter and simulation with DIALux v.4.7 fulfills the SNI requirement. Yet, the boutique still need to put the light distribution placement to a consideration as it is not well distributed, so that it will increase the aesthetic quality of the lighting in the store and will also increase the level of comfort for the visitors.

Abstract

In this era globalization, parents treat an occupation as the main priority of all because an increase in daily necessities. As a result, parents are lack of caring to their children. Therefore, an alternative is needed to replace parent’s role at home. One of the alternative is using a nanny as mother’s helper to take care of their children. However, in fact, many of unexpected things happen, children are kidnapped and abandoned by their nanny. Eventually, many of parents take a decision to enter their children to school under the standard age. Moreover, a high technology development causes children lack of exercise because they prefer to play games rather than to exercise. Another effect of technology is a lack of social life. Hence, they become more individualism.Methodology planning is started from collecting data which includes direct survey, literature data, and typology. The next observations can be an interview, a study research at the same object and last but not least is methodology analysis, which is started from planning program until final design. The interior design of  kids center in Malang is using the concept of jungle, which helps children to interact directly to animals, plants and their friendsThe application concept of kids center  can be shown in each room. The room for 3 to 6 months old is using bird theme, 7 months old to 1 years old’s room using squirell theme, the room for 2 to 3 years old is using fish theme, and then the room for 4  to 5 years room is using giraffe theme. The playing area for 2 to 5 years old is using the garden theme, for the dining room is designed by using mushroom theme, and the playground area is using monkey theme. In order to enlarge the space for children, the room is designed to have less furniture. Rooms are also designed to have a big ventilation so lights and natural air cycle or wind are maximized. Vinyl, carpet, multipleks with water based finishing or HPL are the materials. All appliances that applied are useful for brain storming for the children’s creativity and knowledge.
