Abstract

The primary objective of this paper is to explore the impact of palm tree profile (age), Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) yield, and Oil Extraction Rate (OER) on the Price-to-book (P/B) ratio of Indonesian palm oil companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with return on equity (ROE) as a mediating variable. This study is important because it explores the variables that affect business valuations in a vital industry that employs more than 16 million people and generates huge export earnings, significantly supporting the Indonesian economy. Multiple linear regression is used in a quantitative analysis of secondary data gathered from the financial statements and annual reports of 15 palm oil enterprises from 2013 to 2023. The results show a strong positive relationship between OER and FFB yield with the P/B ratio, indicating that increased operational productivity and efficiency raise firm values. Specifically, the regression analysis revealed that each percentage point increase in OER is associated with a 0.1546 increase in the P/B ratio (p 0.001), and each unit increase in FFB yield contributes to a 0.1013 increase in the P/B ratio (p 0.001). On the other hand, the P/B ratio is negatively impacted by palm tree age, suggesting that older palms are less productive, with a coefficient of -0.1035 (p 0.001). The relationship between productivity ratio and valuation was also shown to be influenced by Return on Equity (ROE), which was identified as a mediating variable. The findings suggest that enhancing internal factors, such as plantation management and mill efficiency, can improve company valuation. It is recommended for future research to use larger sample sizes and longer observation periods to confirm these findings and explore additional variables.

Abstract

The Israel-Palestine conflict has had a significant impact on multinational companies like Starbucks, with boycotts being conducted as a form of protest against alleged support for Israel by Starbucks. The boycott has greatly affected the company's finances, as well as its reputation and overall business expansion. This study aims to assess the financial condition of Starbucks following the boycott phenomenon. The method used in this research is literature review. The collected data shows the extent of Starbucks' financial decline, including not only global sales but also the drop in Starbucks' stock price. Additionally, the study provides information on the reasons behind the boycott and Starbucks' clarifications. Based on the data obtained, Starbucks experienced the longest and steepest stock decline since its IPO, with an 11-day consecutive drop from $107.21 to $93.8906, amounting to approximately $12 billion. This decline reflects investor concerns about the company's sales trends. Starbucks also faced a sales drop of $862.3 million in Q1 2024. Furthermore, the boycott's effects caused Starbucks to delay its expansion and only realize new store openings in Q1 2024. This is because Starbucks focused more on the welfare of its employees and improving sales performance. To mitigate the impact of the boycott, Starbucks can diversify its services, invest in digital technology, and maintain transparent communication to avoid misunderstandings. By taking appropriate and responsive actions, Starbucks can restore sales and consumer trust.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the health, economic and social sectors, including the film industry. In 2020, the South Korean film industry experienced a 73.3% decline in revenue, from 226.68 million tickets sold in 2019 to only 59.52 million tickets after cinemas closed. In contrast, Netflix experienced an increase in the number of global subscribers by 16 million in the first quarter of 2020. The South Korean film industry adapted to this condition through various strategies, including releasing films directly to streaming platforms, collaborating with Netflix for content distribution, and adjusting production budgets to maintain industry expectations. In comparison, similar trends are occurring in Hollywood and Europe, where the film industry is turning to video-on-demand services as a primary distribution alternative. This study analyzes the impact of the pandemic on the South Korean film industry and Netflix's role in maintaining the existence and profitability of this sector amidst the global crisis.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to assist SMEs in creating a sustainable company profile as an information medium that is needed today and is expected to be used as a solution, means of information, and promotion needed by companies, considering that a company profile is an asset that can be used to enhance an image or image. from the company to establish cooperation with relations, institutions and other relevant agencies. As a result of the pandemic, many MSMEs have sprung up around us and when a marketing opportunity for these MSME products came and were asked to immediately send their company profiles, many could not send them, because they did not have a company profile. It's really unfortunate considering that several opportunities have to be let go, because this is a very good opportunity to increase the credibility of these MSMEs. The research method used is a mixture of quantitative and qualitative with descriptive analysis techniques. This research was conducted from July to November 2022, for 5 months. The research population is only 1 MSME located around the West Jakarta area. Data collection tools and techniques are study guideline questionnaires, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD). The results of the research have made a company profile where the contents and information in it have been mutually agreed upon using Canva tools, so that it can be changed later if there is new information that needs to be filled in. ,, ,

Abstract

The decline in congregation commitment to remain rooted in the local church, as reported by the Bilangan Research Centre and Pew Research Centre, represents a significant challenge for churches in maintaining member engagement. Spiritual dissatisfaction is a key factor driving members to other churches. Church leaders play a crucial role in creating an environment that fosters commitment. Leadership marked by care and compassion strengthens the relationship between leaders and congregants, encouraging commitment through the example of Jesus as described in John 10:4. This study aims to examine the influence of shepherd leadership based on John 10:4 and organizational involvement on fostering organizational commitment in the local church, specifically at Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) Light of The City. The research method involves a survey using a Likert scale, measuring organizational commitment with Allen and Meyer’s instrument, and organizational engagement using the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). The results show that shepherd leadership based on the principles in John 10:4 and the level of congregational engagement play a role in building organizational commitment within the local church. Shepherd leadership, when applied contextually and relationally, can strengthen the congregation’s commitment to the church. However, the influence of shepherd leadership on organizational commitment is not direct, but is mediated by the level of organizational engagement among the congregants.
