Abstract

Palm oil plant is one of plantation crop that grown by people of Indonesia, especially Sumatra (Riau). Setora nitens is one of the major pests in palm oil plantations. Management control to decrease the Setora nitens by using synthetic insecticides. Reducing the effects caused by synthetic insecticides, therefore need alternative in pest control techniques such as use organic insecticide derived from Piper aduncum L. The purpose of this research is to get Piper aduncum L. leaf powder extract concentrate that effective to control Setora nitens at palm oil plantations. This research was carried out experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments with 4 replications. The treatment consisting five level: SRH 0 (no concentration), SRH 1 (concentration of 25 g/liter of water), SRH 2 (concentration of 50 g/liter of water), SRH 3 (concentration of 75 g/liter of water) and SRH 4 (concentration 100 g/liter of water). Results showed that the concentration of 100 g/liter was able to kill Setora nitens by 45% and this has not been effective in controlling caterpillars Setora nitens because not reach 80%. The best concentration to kill 95% of the population of Setora nitens is 206% or 2.06 kg/l of water. Piper aduncum L. leaf powder extract has not been effective in controlling caterpillars Setora nitens at palm oil plantations. Abstract

Research aims to obtain dose of spiked pepper fruit flour (Piper aduncum L.) better of mortality pests  imago S. oryzae on the rice. Research conducted at the laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from May to June 2015. The Research was conducted experimentally by using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 5 treatments, where each treatments was repeated 4 times to obtain 20 units experiment. The treatment used in the research are (0 g/ 100 g, 2 g/ 100 g, 4 g/ 100 g, 6 g/ 100 g, 8 g/ 100 g of rice). Data obtained analyzed statistically using analysis of variance followed by least significant difference (LSD) at 5%. Dose applications of spiked pepper fruit flour at doses     6 g/ 100 g rice better of  imago S. oryzae with lethal time50 24,5 hour and mortality by 97,5% inhibit the growth of the population, shrinkage weight of rice, and lethal dose 95 by 4,5%.   Keywoards: Dose, insecticide, Piper aduncum L., Sitophilus oryzae, rice.

Abstract

Sitophilus zeamais M. was a warehouse pest that attacks corn kernels in storage. S. zeamais pest control commonly used fumigant insecticides that used still has many disadvantages such as food safety impacts, environmental pollution and pest resistance, so that a safe alternative to control was needed, one of which was using noni seeds. This research was aimed to obtain a dose of noni seed flour that was effective to S. zea mays corn powder pest mortality.The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pest, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from March to May 2018.The treatment used was the dose of noni seed flour 0 g.100 g-1 corn, 2 g.100 g-1 corn, 4 g.100 g-1 corn, 6 g.100 g-1 corn, and 8 g.100 g-1 corn. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Based on the results of the research, the dose of noni seeds 8 g.100 g-1corn had not been effective in controlling S. zeamais with mortality of 52.50%, shrinkage of corn seed weight by 8.78% and an increase in individuals by 8.20.Keywords: Morinda citrifolia L., Sitophilus zeamais M., Zea mays

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is the second staple food after rice in Indonesia. The main problem in corn cultivation is the attack of Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith. The S. frugiperda pest can cause a loss of 73% yield, if the affected plant population reaches 100%. The control using botanical pesticides extracts of forest betel leaf (Piper aduncum L.) is an alternative for controlling S. frugiperda. This study aimed to obtain an effective concentration of forest betel leaf powder extract to control S. frugiperda. The research was carried out at the Plant Pest Laboratory and Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. This study was conducted from February 2020 to April 2020. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications in order to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatments given were the concentration of forest betel leaf powder extract 0 g.l-1 water, 25 g.l-1 water, 50 g.l-1 water, 75 g.l-1 water and 100 g.l-1 water. The results showed that the concentration of 75 gl-1 water was an effective concentration to control S. frugiperda with an initial time of death of 11.75 hours, lethal time of 50 at 43.25 hours after application, the highest daily mortality on the second day at 52.5% and total mortality is80% in the 5 days after application.

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a plantation crop that has an important role in the national economy. Conopomorpha cramerella Snellen is a pest that causes a decrease in cocoa production in the field. The recommended control is using botanical insecticides using soursop leaves (Annona muricata L). This study aimed to obtain best concentration of soursop leaf flour extract (A. muricata L) to control the attack of cocoa pod borer (C. cramerella Snellen) in the field. The research was conducted in the garden of residents of Nan Sabaris District, Padang Pariaman Regency, from July to October 2019. The research was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment of the concentration of soursop leaf powder extract given in each experimental unit was 0 gl-1 water, 20 gl-1 water, 40 gl-1 water, 60 gl-1 water, 80 gl-1 water and 100 gl-1 water. The results showed that soursop was able in controlling CPB (C. cramerella) pests at a concentration of 100 gl-1 water which reduced the percentage of affected fruit to 10% with the lowest fruit damage intensity, namely 12.48%, the largest fruit diameter was 18.15 cm, with the smallest larval population of 0.75 tails, and the maximum dry weight of seeds reaching 150.75 g.

Abstract

Corn is one of the important food crops besides rice. The variety of corn that is in great demand by the public is sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). The main pest that often attacks sweet corn plants is Helicoverpa armigera Hubner. Pest control can be carried out using botanical insecticides of tuba roots (Derris elliptica benth.). This research aims to obtain a concentration of tuba root flour extract which was effective against Helicoverpa armigera Hubner. The research was conducted at the Plant Pest Laboratory and Organic Chemistry and Natural Material Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, Riau University. It was started from January to March 2020. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications so that 20 experimental units were obtained. The treatments given were various concentrations of tuba root flour extract, namely: 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75% and 1%. The results showed that the difference in the concentration of tuba root flour extract had a significant effect on killing Helicoverpa armigera larvae. The concentration of 0.75% is effective in controlling Helicoverpa armigera larvae because it has been able to kill Helicoverpa armigera by 85% with the fastest initial death time at 3.75 hours, lethal time 50 at 17.00 hours after application.

Abstract

Opius chromatomyiae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is an endoparasitoid attacking leafminers in the field. The objective of the research is to study the statitiscal demographic of the parasitoid. Result showed that female lifespan (9.95 days) was shorter than male (11.73). Female fecundity was about 104.73 eggs. with rate of egg production per day was about 9.31 eggs. This parasitois was also found to be female-biased sex ratio. Regarding population parameter, net reproduction rate (Ro) was about 28.55, of increase (λ) 1.23. The stable age of Opius chromatomyiae was about 37.93% eggs, 24.92 % larval, 20.36 % pupae and 16.78 % adult.

Abstract

Oryctes rhinoceros Linnaeus is one of the main pests of oil palm plants. The Oryctes rhinoceros control of being commonly used is synthetic insecticides. However, it is unwise useable to cause negative impacts on humans and the agricultural environment. Therefore, an alternative insecticide that is safer and environmentally friendly is needed, such as tuba root (Derris elliptica Benth.). The research was conducted in a Plant Pest laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru, from July to August 2018. This study aims to obtain an effective concentration of tuba root extract to control Oryctes rhinoceros larvae. The research was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), which consists of five treatments and four replications. The treatment used is the concentration of tuba root extracts 0 g.l-1 of water, 25 g.l-1 of water, 50 g.l-1 of water, 75 g.l-1 of water and 100 g.l-1 of water. The result in them showing that the application of tuba root extract at a concentration of 75 g.l-1 was able to decrease O. rhinoceros larvae population with a total mortality of 82.5%. The lethal concentration to kill 50% of O. rhinoceros larvae population was 1.0% or equal to 10 g.l-1 of tuba root extract, while the lethal concentration to kill 95% of O. rhinoceros larvae population was 30.6% or equal to 306 g.l-1 tuba root extract.

Abstract

Citrus plants are one of the mainstay horticultural commodities in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, especially in Tanjung Village, Koto, Kampar Hulu District. The main obstacle to citrus cultivation is the large number of pest attacks. In the previous experience of citrus plants in Kampar Regency these plants had to be destroyed because theye were attacked by CVPD and Phythopthora spp. This service aims to provide knowledge to farmers in Tanjung Village about the types of pest that attack oranges, attack symptoms, influencing factors and control methods. The ultimate goal is to increase citrus production so that farmers' income increases. Dedication is given by counseling and demonstration methods. Results and achievements the service program resulted in improved farmers' knowledge and skills about the types of pest and environmentally friendly control techniques for citrus plants. The service method includes counseling and demonstration in service activities were very well responded by citrus farmers. Previously farmers had never received material on introduction and control of citrus pests, in addition they faced issues in citrus cultivation i.e. pest therefore e participants paid close attention and asked many questions. Evaluate the achievement of the results of the questionnaire by holding counseling about citrus pests, farmers became aware of types of citrus pest, attack symptoms, and alternative control techniques that are carried out since citrus farmers only had knowledge on and applied control techniques using synthetic pesticides. Thus this service provides great benefits to citrus farmers in controlling their citrus pests.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Pengembangan Tanaman Cabai Rawit Untuk Peningkatan Ekonomi Keluarga Di Desa Koto Parambahan Kecamatan Kampa Kabupaten Kampar dilaksanakan selama tiga bulan dari Bulan Juli sampai Bulan September 2018. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dalam Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah berupa kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian, kegiatan pelatihan pembibitan tanaman cabe rawit, pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik cair dari limbah rumah tangga. Sasaran dari kegiatan pengabdian ini masyarakat Desa Koto Parambahan terutama ibu rumah tangga, remaja putri dan petani. Hasilnya adanya peningkatan pengetahuan ibu rumah tangga dan petani dalam budidaya tanaman cabai rawit dan telah dimanfaatkan lahan pekarangan dan lahan tidur untuk budidaya tanaman cabai rawit sebanyak 500 batang guna memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga dan juga nantinya sebagai salah satu sumber pendapatan keluarga yang harganya cukup menjanjikan saat ini sehingga ekonomi keluarga dapat menjadi lebih baik.
