Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever often appears in the rainy season and is more common in tropical areas. Dengue fever is transmitted through mosquito bites, such as Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus females, who have the virus transmitted into the human body. This mosquito bites humans in the morning and afternoon. Natural factors and human behavior can cause this virus to appear. Mosquito A.aegypti could live and reproduce in crowded and unclean places, especially in standing water. One way to prevent dengue fever is to cover and drain areas of standing water. Another way to do this is to keep fish that eat larvae in water reservoirs. Using insecticides to stop the chain of mosquito-spread during the larval stage is one method that is often used to control A.aegypti; the extermination of mosquito larvae is more effective than adult mosquitoes. Betta, as a predator of mosquito larvae A.aegypti, can break the chain of dengue fever naturally and effectively. This community service activity (PKM) involves outreach within the SMA Negeri 2 Tarakan City environment.

Abstract

Tiger prawns produced in traditional ponds in North Kalimantan, especially Tarakan City, are a superior commodity susceptible to attack by pathogens. One way to prevent disease is to add probiotics. Probiotics are live microbes that help the host maintain microbial balance in the digestive tract. Prebiotics, conversely, are foods that cannot be digested by the host body but have a positive effect by selectively stimulating the growth of some bacteria in the intestine, such as Lactobacillus sp, thereby improving the host's health. To support the survival and growth of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract, synbiotics combine probiotics and prebiotics in a balanced manner. It is hoped that administering probiotics and prebiotics will allow the growth of probiotic bacteria and other beneficial bacteria to improve the host's health. The research was carried out using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 feed treatments with three replications, namely 1: negative control consisting of commercial feed Feng Li-0, 2: positive control consisting of commercial feed Feng Li-0 added with a physiological solution and egg white, 3: prebiotic honey added to commercial feed Feng Li-0 along with physiological solution and egg white, 4: probiotic Lacto-B added to commercial feed Feng Li-0 along with physiological solution and egg white, and treatment 5: synbiotic honey and bacteria (Lacto-B) added to commercial feed Feng Li-0 along with physiological solution and egg white. This research aims to determine how effective prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics are in producing black tiger shrimp juvenile survival. In this research, the synbiotic treatment showed the highest average survival value, final weight, and length in black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) juvenile.

Abstract

ABSTRACTFifth generations of Nile tilapia from several strains have been produced by using selective breeding program in Main Centre for Freshwater Aquaculture Development (MCFAD) Sukabumi, West Java. This research was aimed to evaluate the impact of family selection program of some highly economic traits on its genetic variability using microsatellite DNA markers. The total of 180 specimens have been collected from fifth generation of nine reciprocal mating between three families selected from fourth generation of Nile tilapia and were screened for genetic variability at three microsatellite loci (UNH 123*, UNH 172*, UNH 216*). The results showed that the amount of genetic variability on fifth generations of Nile tilapia from three strains was ranged between 33 to 100% and the highest genetic distance relationship between families was 0.3875. This research approved that females and males issued from the family which have more amount of genetic variability and higher distance to others could be considered as genetic materials to produce the next generation. Keywords: microsatellite DNA, genotype, genetic variability, genetic distance, Oreochromis nilotiocus ABSTRAKBeberapa strain ikan nila generasi kelima telah dihasilkan dalam program pemuliaan di Main Centre untuk Freshwater Aquaculture Development (MCFAD) Sukabumi, Barat Jawa. Abstract

In Siawang Village, Lumbis District, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, efforts to diversify food through biotechnology transfer to make snakehead fish protein-based katuk leaf uli tape as a source of albumin for postpartum mothers (booster recovery) can be an easy, cheap, solution. A simple, affordable way to overcome the difficulties of getting healthy daily nutrition during recovery. During postpartum recovery, problems such as wounds (such as cesarean scars or suturing wounds during expected delivery), constipation, and early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD) require attention and support from various roles, including medical personnel, family, and especially husbands. Mothers who have just given birth can include snakehead fish protein-based katuk leaf tape uli in their daily snacks. This snack has a unique and delicious taste and many essential health benefits for the body. The location of Siawang Village is far from the City Center, making the logistics of goods and services available in Siawang Village limited. Apart from that, the need for vitamin supplements, supplements and additional medicines is very low, especially in maintaining maternal health after giving birth. To prevent stunting or failure to thrive in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition, it is essential to ensure that mothers get enough nutrition during pregnancy, after giving birth, and during childcare. Community service activities (PKM) are conducted through lectures, training (direct practice), and discussions with the Siawang Village PKK Women mobilization group.
