Abstract

Indonesia has an economic transformation. However, it tends to experience deindustrialization and development inclusivity challenges. This research examines the influence of industrialization and inclusivity to improve welfare in the short and long term. The analytical method is Autoregressive Distributed Lag, using province-level panel data from 2012–2021. Based on results, industrialization has not significantly affected welfare improvement in the short term. Inclusivity has no significant impact in the short term, but it has a negative direction. However, in the long term, industrialization and inclusivity positively and significantly increase welfare. This confirms that industrialization and inclusivity require time to create welfare.

Abstract

The background of this service activity was the limited ability of Indonesian teachers teaching in Jeddah to write scientific journal articles, which was caused by low motivation and a lack of knowledge about good and correct article-writing techniques. This service aimed to equip teachers in Jeddah with the journal article writing skills needed for professional development. The main target of this activity was teachers in Jeddah. The methods applied in this service included online training and mentoring, with an in-service training (IST) and on-service training (OST) approach. The process of implementing activities included several stages, namely preparation, training, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The results of this activity showed a significant improvement in the ability to write journal articles among teachers in Jeddah. They became more confident in their writing and were able to produce quality articles ready to be published in national journals.

Abstract

This study analyzes the macroeconomic factors influencing the Rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar (USD/IDR) in Indonesia, considering that exchange rate volatility can affect economic stability. The dynamics of imports, exports, money supply (M2), inflation, and Bank Indonesia's (BI) benchmark interest rate are believed to play a crucial role in currency movements. The primary objective of this research is to analyze the long-term and short-term effects of these variables on the USD/IDR exchange rate in Indonesia. This study is quantitative in nature, using time series data and applying the Error Correction Model (ECM) to identify long-term relationships among variables as well as short-term adjustment mechanisms. The analysis results indicate that in the long run, Money Supply (M2), inflation, and BI interest rates have a significant positive relationship with the exchange rate (Rupiah depreciation), while imports and exports show a significant negative relationship (Rupiah appreciation). In the short term, changes in all independent variables also significantly affect exchange rate movements, with M2, inflation, and BI interest rates causing depreciation, while imports and exports cause appreciation. A significant error correction value indicates the presence of an adjustment process to return to long-term equilibrium. The implications of this study highlight the importance of managing the money supply, controlling inflation, and implementing balanced trade policies in maintaining Rupiah exchange rate stability, as well as the understanding that BI interest rate hikes are often a response to existing depreciation pressures.

Abstract

The growth of the tourism sector in Indonesia depends not only on promotional efforts but also on the quality of infrastructure, destination accessibility, and supporting facilities. This study aims to analyze the indirect effect of Tourism Public Expenditure on tourist arrivals through the mediating roles of infrastructure, accessibility, and hotel room occupancy. Secondary data were collected from the Central Statistics Agency and the Ministry of Tourism for the Java and Bali regions over the 2015–2023 period. The analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling with WarpPLS software. The results indicate that government spending positively influences infrastructure development and improvements in accessibility. In turn, infrastructure and accessibility significantly affect hotel room occupancy, which ultimately has a substantial impact on tourist arrivals. The influence of Tourism Public Expenditure on tourist arrivals is therefore indirect, mediated through these pathways. These findings highlight the importance of effective government spending in laying the foundation for sustainable tourism growth. Abstract

Abstract

The dynamics of the region's labour market are called into question by the continually higher open unemployment rate in the province of Riau Islands compared to the national average. Using the years 2017–2023, this study looks into the causes of open unemployment in the province of Riau Islands. With an emphasis on the function of public spending, ease of access to technology, and GDP expansion. Using Eviews 12 software's FEM specification test and a quantitative method, this study evaluates secondary data provided from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of the Riau Islands Province using panel data regression analysis. Government spending significantly lowers the open jobless rate, whereas technological advancement and economic progress significantly raise it. Based on these results, the Riau Islands Province needs effective policies to lower the open unemployment rate, maximise the use of government funds, and tap into the possibilities of technological access and economic growth.
