Abstract

All metals can be done, but welding on some metals, especially aluminum alloys with certain hard to do welding . Various ways and development has been carried out to obtain an alternative method which can connect the hard metal welded. Friction welding (friction welding) is one of the solutions to solve difficult problems connecting metal done with fusión welding (welding liquid). Greatly affect the temperature distribution of welding friction welding results, by varying the rotational speed of the obtained heat more evenly. So that welding can be achieved maximal results. From the results of the largest study of tensile strength at a speed of 1169 rpm is 18.67 MPa, while the tensile strength of the lowest rotational speed of 867 rpm is 16.38 MPa. For the highest hardness values contained in the base metal region (Zud) is 114.5 VHN. while the lowest violence occurred in the HAZ (ZPD) is 52.28 VHN. Abstract

Injection moulding is one process to form plastic by compress the melted plastic in a closed die. The raw material for the process either pure plastic pellet or mixed with recycled plastics. this research focused on finding the acceptable percentage of recycled  the raw material in term of tensile strengh and shrinkage. The composition is varied from 0% to 100% of polyethylene. Tensile test shows that the more percentage of recycled the lower is the  tensile strenght. on the other hand, the more the recycled composition the highernis shrinkage number. Both decrease of tensile strengh and increase of shrinkage are linearly. Recycled plastic in the raw material makes the composition be not uniform. It leads misrun defect, i.e. the melted plastic solidified before it reach the destined cavity in the mold. Moreover, it also creates more void in the parts. The highest tensile strength of 19.10 N/mm2 when no recycled mixed in, whereas the minimum of 12.05 N/mm2 achieved when 100% recycled was applied. Recycled Composition of 100% also increased by 9,82% compare to pure plastic. Keywords: Recycled plastic, tensile strength, shrinkage.

Abstract

Solar water heater is a device that heats water using solar collectors as heat sink of radiation heat, which is forwarded to the pipe containing the fluid heat exchanger (heat exchanger). In this study, conducted comparative testing of solar water heating performance between the performance of the water heater that uses liquid water heat exchanger, airgaram 3.5%, and palm oil. Data collection was performed by taking the data every 30 minutes for 3 hours is at 9:00 to 12:00 pm and the test done 3 times on different days with variations in the type of fluid heat exchanger. From the study data taken include temperature liquid heat exchanger in and out the collector, and the water temperature in the tank, which is then carried out data processing to determine the mass flow rate, density of the fluid, temperature differences in the liquid heat exchanger incoming and outgoing collector (AT) , the performance of solar water heaters (q), and processing the data graphically. The results of the research of some kind of liquid water heat exchanger, brine 3.5%, and palm oil showed that liquid palm oil heat exchanger with a heat capacity of 1,866 kJ / kg. K and a boiling point of 175 0C is the greatest performance, the performance of the lowest value owned by the water. This is due to the value of palm oil heat capacity smaller than a heat capacity of water and greater than the capacity of brine 3.5%, but it is also influenced by the boiling point of palm oil is the highest of any other heat exchanger fluid. Key Words: Heat exchanger, heat capacity, performance, collector, boiling point.

Abstract

The acceleration of economic growth in the region is supported by the potential of sectoral support the local economy in which one sector is tourism. The development of tourism has an important role for the development of an area, and evenly expand  and employment opportunities, encouraging the development of local, regional and national income increase in order to improve the welfare and prosperity of the community. Stone City is one city where the tourism destination which is Tourism Songgoriti. The potential is very supportive in the growth of the real economy both in terms of products and services. Structuring economic support infrastructure around the holidays can be a priority so that regional economic growth is expected to not only provide opportunities for people with middle and upper economic level but more in favor of increasing the value of the benefit to the surrounding community. To support a more targeted policy measures, especially for the Holidays Songgoriti, it would require an identification of potential research activity in particular economic and business prospects around the area of ​​service quality attributes identified tourism areas Songgoriti desired by consumers (consumer expectations) and how consumer perceptions of attributes -attributes by field survey methods and questionnaires to the respondents who are consumers who have traveled to Songgoiti. Abstract

Composites using bio-materials with unique properties, such as spent coffee ground were developed for composite fillers. This study was conducted to produce samples under various mixing speed conditions. This study also determined effect of mixing speeds on particle homogeneity as well as composite dispersion in the final product. The composite dispersion was determined by an index based on a standard deviation of free-path spacing of filler particles using a digital microscope. Results showed that when using high-speed mixing, particle tends to agglomerate with particle clumps. We also obtained that faster mixing speed results more homogeneous mixture compared to slower speed. In short, slower speed can reach similar result in homogeneity levels, but it would require longer time for the mixing process.

Abstract

Micro power generator (MPG) merupakan sebagian teknologi yang saat ini sedang dalam proses pengembangan. MPG merupakan teknologi dengan menggunakan peralatan pembakaran didalam sebuah combustor yang memiliki ukuran kecil (micro / mesoscale combustor) dengan menggunakan bahan bakar hidrokarbon. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan combustor dengan material tembaga dengan bahan bakar LPG yang memvariasikan ukuran diameter outlet dengan ukuran 5 mm, 5.5 mm, dan 6 mm, sedangkan untuk diameter inlet digunakan ukuran diameter yang konstan yaitu 4.5 mm. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh nyala api yang paling stabil ditunjukan dengan grafik flammability limit dan visualisasi nyala api akibat dari proses pembakaran yang dilakukan didalam messo scale combustor dengan sudden expansion. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Konversi Energi Jurusan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Jember. Hasil yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini yaitu pada combustor dengan ukuran diameter inlet yang konstan 4,5 mm dan dengan variasi diameter outlet dapat diketahui jika semakin besar rentang nilai kecepatan reaktan (v) dan nilai rasio equivalen (?) maka nyala api yang dihasilkan akan lebih stabil. Pada penelitian ini combustor dengan variasi outlet 6 mm memiliki nilai rentang kecepatan rektan (v) dan equivalen rasio (?) yang lebih besar dibandingkan lainnya, pada variasi ukuran diameter outlet 5 mm kecepatan reaktan (v) = 15.46 - 47.74 cm/s dan rasio equivalen (?) = 1.10 - 1.61, pada variasi ukuran diameter outlet 5,5 mm kecepatan reaktan (v) = 15.28 - 49.49 cm/s dan rasio equivalen (?) = 1.08 - 1.63, dan pada variasi ukuran diameter outlet 6 mm kecepatan reaktan (v) = 15.18 - 52.04 cm/s dan rasio equivalen (?) = 1.06 - 1.68.

Abstract

Sand blasting merupakan suatu proses yang digunakan untuk merubah karakteristik suatu permukaan. Kekasaran permukaan perlu diperhatikan untuk meningkatkan daya rekat lapisan cat terhadap permukaan material. Proses ini dilakukan denan cara menyemprotkan pasir silika ke suatu permukaan baja dengan kecepatan yang relatif tinggi . Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah dapat mengetahui pengaruh tekanan, waktu dan sudut terhadap kekasaran permukaan baja SS400 serta untuk mendapatkan parameter yang sesuai pada proses sand blasting. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen orthogonal array pada metode taguchi. Parameter yang divariasikan yaitu tekanan udara sebesar 3, 4 dan 5 bar dengan waktu penyemprotan 4, 8, dan 12 detik juga sudut penyemprotan sebesar 30°,60° dan 90°. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi tekanan memiliki pengaruh lebih besar dibandingkan waktu dan sudut. Sedangkan kombinasi parameter yang optimal yaitu tekanan 3 bar, waktu 8 detik dan sudut 60° dengan nilai kekasaran permukaan 54,82 ?m dan tingkat kebersihan SA 2,5.

Abstract

Pengendalian kualitas merupakan sebuah teknik yang dapat dilakukan mulai dari tahap sebelum proses produksi hingga proses produksi berakhir. Six sigma merupakan sebuah metodologi terstruktur untuk memperbaiki proses dengan menggunakan statistik dan problem solving tools secara intensif menuju target 3,4 kegagalan per satu juta kesempatan. PT. X bergerak di bidang industri pembuatan kaleng makanan dengan salah satu produknya adalah kaleng tipe two piece cans 307. Berdasarkan informasi perusahaan, pada proses produksi kaleng tipe tersebut seringkali ditemukan produk mengalami cacat yang merugikan perusahaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara yang tepat untuk meminimalkan cacat kaleng tipe tersebut dengan menggunakan metode six sigma. Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa penyebab utama cacat adalah pekerja kurang teliti, setting clearence dies yang terlalu rapat, dies kemasukan afval, pisau press tumpul, bahan kotor dan rusak, perawatan mesin yang tidak dilakukan secara berkala, area produksi tidak rapi dan bising. Nilai DPMO sebesar 2844 yang dikonversikan kedalam sigma level yakni 4.27. Usulan perbaikan dengan Five-M Checklist meliputi memberikan pelatihan dan memperketat pengawasan kepada pekerja, melakukan setting mesin sesuai prosedur serta ubah clearence dies menjadi 0,24 mm, memperketat pemeriksaan bahan baku kaleng, melaksanakan perawatan mesin sesuai dengan jadwal yang telah ditentukan, menjaga kebersihan dan kerapian area produksi. Quality control is a technique that can be carried out from before the production process until the production process ends. Six sigma is a structured solution to process improvement using statistics and problem solving tools that intensively reach the target of 3.4 recovery per one million opportunities. PT. X is engaged in the industry of making cans with one of its products is a 307 two-piece can. Based on company information, in the production process, cans are found to find products that can save the company. This research was conducted to find out the right way to overcome this type of defect by using the six sigma method. The results of the study are known to be related to the fact that workers do not have meticulous, clear dead settings that are too tight, afval conceded dies, blunt press blades, dirty and damaged materials, machine maintenance that is not officially done, production area is not neat and noisy. The DPMO value is 2844 which is converted into sigma level which is 4.27. Proposed improvements with the Five-M Checklist provide training and tighten supervision to workers, make machine arrangements according to procedures and change clearly to 0.24 mm, tighten inspection of tin raw materials, manage engine maintenance according to agreed schedules, care about cleanliness and neatness production area.
