Abstract

This research aims to investigate the value of thermal conductivity of a composite material made from Polyester Resin (R), Aren Fiber (I) and a some water and epoxy. Composite materials used in this work have been made based on the ASTM C177. Experimental apparatus used in this study consists of a source of heat (150 Watt), thermocouple, digital balance and stopwatch. The main materials on this study consist of the three variations of composition, 40%, 50% and 60% I/R (by volume) respectively. This work begins with preparation of the three specimen materials of each composition. All specimen have been made in 30cm x 30cm x 1 cm size of length, width and thickness, respectively, and investigated the properties of the composites at several spatial and time during applied some energy source. Investigation was conducted at ambient temperatures and pressure at each 1 minute for 120 minute of heating. Density of each composites composition was also measured for the same size of all specimen of 5cm x 5cm x 1cm with standard ASTM C 2005, respectively. The results of the study show that the properties of the composite material varies with material-based compositions. The higher the Resin the better the thermal conductivity of the composites. Volume fraction of 40% I/R has thermal conductivity (k) of 1.235 W / m ° C, volume fraction of 50% I/R has thermal conductivity of 1.129 W / m ° C and volume fraction of 60% I/R has Thermal conductivity of 1.077 W / m ° C. The density of the specimens of the volume fraction of 40%, 50% and 60%I/Ris 1177.962 kg / m³, 1155.386 kg/m³ and 1144.662 kg/m³ respectively. The result of analysis also shows that composition of 60% I/R seems to be the appropriate material isolator using in many engineering applications based on the lower thermal conductivity and lower density.

Abstract

Rice husk is a waste from rice milling that can be utilized by most people, because rice husk contains nutrients and protein. Therefore, this rice husk has many uses, one of which is used as animal feed. To make it animal feed, it requires processing in a puree way so that it is easily digested by the livestock. Seeing this problem, it is necessary to make a rice husk smoothing machine. The working principle of the rice husk smoothing machine is carried out by inserting the rice husk into the inlet funnel which will be refined by the blade, then utilizing the gasoline motor as the prime mover, where the rotation of the machine is continued by a main shaft circuit consisting of 10 blades, the shaft with a diameter of 19 mm, a bearing size of 2.5 inches, V-belt type A 41, and a pulley diameter of 10 cm, as the main components of the rice husk smoothing machine. The capacity of the rice husk smoothing machine is 2400 kg within 8 hours/day of machine operation. The results of grinding the husks within 2 minutes of testing can grind an average of 0.90 kg of fine husks with a rotation of 4815 rpm. So in a day the rice husk smoothing machine can refine 2400 kg in 8 hours or a day of machine operation.

Abstract

The purpose of this UHO Internal Community Partnership Service is to provide effective technical guidance on the operation of the brick making machine and transfer knowledge about the procedures for making brick making machines using a pneumatic system to the brick making community groups in Puasana Village, North Moramo District, South Konawe direct socialization and technical guidance for the operation of pneumatic molding machines. The results obtained by the group of brick-making people are an understanding of the basics of brick-making tools and the ability to operate a brick-making machine with a pneumatic system.

Abstract

The condenser is a heat exchange device with the function of condensing the steam coming out of the low-pressure turbine into water. As the condenser is one of the main components of a PLTU, the effectiveness of the condenser greatly influences the efficiency of the PLTU. One of the variables that determines condenser performance is changes in vacuum pressure. This change in vacuum pressure often occurs as long as the PLTU is operating. This study aims to determine the effect of changes in condenser vacuum pressure on condenser performance at PLTU Ni Tanasa Unit 1. Data collection was carried out at peak load conditions via the Central Control Room (CCR). The analysis results show that a decrease in vacuum pressure affects condenser performance. The variables that influence condenser performance are the heat transfer coefficient and maximum heat transfer. The maximum heat transfer coefficient is U = 383.32 W/m2.oC and maximum condenser effectiveness is e = 0.941, occurs at a vacuum pressure of 89.8 kPa, the maximum heat transfer rate is Q ̇=2584.5 kJ/s, occurs at condenser pressure 90.4 kPa. Abstract

The aim of the community service activity is to effectively provide technical guidance to the community, especially the farmers in Puasana Village, North Moramo Sub-district, on the creation, operation, and maintenance of the Crab Shell Waste Chopper Technology. Additionally, it aims to transfer knowledge about the procedures for manufacturing, operating, and maintaining the Crab Shell Waste Chopper Technology in Puasana Village, North Moramo Sub-district, Konawe Selatan Regency. The method employed involves field visits, technical guidance, and the evaluation of activities conducted for the community. The results of the community service activity show that the community is well-informed and understands effectively the mechanisms for manufacturing, operating, and maintaining the crab shell waste chopper device used for livestock feed production. Furthermore, the evaluation provides a comprehensive understanding of the impact and sustainability of the crab shell waste chopper technology program in Puasana Village. These results can be used to enhance the program, ensure the continuity of innovation, and provide lessons for other areas interested in adopting a similar approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh komposisi perekat terhadap karakteristik termal briket arang pelepah sagu. Tiga komposisi yang diuji adalah briket dengan perbandingan presentase arang pelepah sagu:perekat tepung kanji masing-masing 90:10%, 80:20%, dan 70:30%. Pembuatan briket dilakukan pada tekanan konstan 70 kgf/cm2. Pengujian termal dilakukan menggunakan tungku pembakaran silindris yang dirancang untuk aliran udara secara alami. Setiap komposisi diuji dengan tiga briket. Selama pembakaran, penurunan massa dan peningkatan suhu ruang bakar diamati setiap interval waktu 4 menit menggunakan timbangan digital dan termokopel tipe K. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi dengan perbandingan 90% arang pelepah sagu dan 10% perekat tepung kanji menunjukkan kenaikan suhu pembakaran tertinggi. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa proporsi perekat tepung kanji yang lebih rendah dalam briket dapat meningkatkan efisiensi pembakaran

Abstract

Technological advances in measuring instruments provide convenience in carrying out the work of measuring an object. But on the other hand, these advances require skilled operators so that they can be applied to the object being measured. The purpose of this service activity is to increase the knowledge of teachers and students in recognizing various measuring tools to increase their competence in the use of measuring tools. The method of implementing the activity uses an approach to theoretical exposure, direct demonstration and practice, discussions, and questions and answers that are directly related to measuring instruments including solar power meters, viscometers, micrometers, thermometers, tachometers, torques, welding gauges, dial indicators, and anemometers. The results achieved from the implementation of this community service activity, teachers and students gain knowledge of various types of measuring instruments and how to apply them to various objects being measured.

Abstract

One of the classic problems that are difficult to overcome in urban life is environmental problems where waste is not handled properly, especially inorganic waste. Currently, the largest contributor to waste after organic waste is inorganic waste in the form of canned waste. The use of aluminum as a packaging material is due to its being lightweight, easy to shape, and does not endanger human health. On that basis, its use as packaging is widespread which also triggers the forerunner of the waste problem in people's lives. Aluminum waste will be a source of income for the community if it is handled properly by involving waste processing technology in the form of recycling technology through metal smelting or casting. This service program aims to introduce metal casting applications made from canned waste into frying pan products for the community in Lepo-Lepo, Kendari City. The activity stages include: socializing the introduction of aluminum-based cans of packaging waste and the practice of smelting aluminum cans in a crucible furnace and pouring molten metal into molds. The implementation of this service activity can raise awareness of participants to be able to process waste, especially aluminum can packaging into frying pan products, and create new jobs to improve the welfare of the local community.

Abstract

The cooling process is essentially a process of transfer of heat energy contained in a room. This study aimsto determine the effect of the rotating speed of the compressor driving machine on the optimum cabinoptimum time temperature in the tropics. Equipment used in this research is panel of electrical system of airconditioner. The research method is done by way of experiment directly on the tool with the speedparameters of the engine speed of the compressor with the temperature to be achieved 20 oC, 22 oC, 24 oCdan 26 oC. The results showed that the higher the compressor turn speed the shorter the time required to coolthe cabin. At the engine speed of 1500 rpm, Cp = 293.07 J/mol.K, W = 0.02542 m, top = 0.00219 hours. At2000 rpm engine speed, Cp = 234.48 J/mol.K, W = 0.0285 m, top = 0.00220 hours. At the engine speed of2500 rpm, Cp = 175.88 J/mol.K, W = 0.03303m, top = 0.00222 hours. At 3000 rpm engine speed, Cp =117.275 J/mol.K, W = 0.04059 m, top = 0.00223 hours. At the speed of 3000 rpm compressor engine speedobtained the actual time of the shortest tact = 2.073 minutes and the optimum time top = 0.00223 hours.Keywords: Compressor, temperature, time, AC panel, and propulsion.
