Abstract

This paper’s aim is to explain the role of the local public sectors in regional economic growth in Ex-Residency of Surakarta. The question we ask in this paper is whether local taxes and local expenditures affect regional economic growth in Ex Residency of Surakarta. This question is very important in two respect. First, It would be especially interesting to know whether local government taxes and/or expenditures have had an impact on regional economic growth. An alternative view argues againts any such impact. Second, as local autonomy will soon be granted, local government need to understand the mechanism by which local taxes and expenditures affect the regional economy. The major finding in this paper area as follows. The role of local government in regional economic growth has been very significant. Local taxes and local revenues have a significant negative effect on local regional economic growth, while local government investment have a significant positive effect on regional economic growth. On the other hand, Local government consumption and labor force have no significant effect on regional economic growth. One of the crusial policy implication of this paper is that we must enhance the role of local government, local autonomy having been recently introduced. More specifically, the central government should transfer more revenue sources to its lower level local government through. For example, revenue sharing of national taxes. Keywords: local public sector, regional economic growth, regional economic gap.

Abstract

This study aims to identify regulations and analyze the determinants of outsourcing implementation in the Indonesian manufacturing industry using an analyctic hierarchy process (AHP). We examines both the Indonesian Labor Law–Act No. 13/2003 and the Regulation of Minister of Manpower and Transmigration No. 19/2012 on Conditions for Outsourcing the Implementation of Work to Other Companies. The results suggest that business efficiency, human resource development plan, types of outsourcing, wage level and worker incentive, recruitment and training cost, skilled  worker and productivity, recruitment process, and government regulation are the priority factors to implement outsourcing in Indonesian manufacturing industries.

There are three variables have a positive influence on the investment decisions taken by the businesses i.e. the debt ratio, cash flow and exchange rate expectations.

Abstract

The aims of this paper are: 1) To measures the differences between two dependent variables of woman's motivation on work is caused by economic and education factor; 2) To explain the interaction effect between independent variable age and culture to women's work motivation caused by economic and education factor. The empirical result of this research with MANOVA models are as follows. The impact of self-actualization, culture, husband's income, family's income on women determination of labor force participation has been very significant. Husband' income and culture have a significant negative effect on women determination of labor force participation. While self-actualization and family's income, have a significant positive effect on women determination of labor force participation.Based on the result, there are differences between independent variables (age and culture) vector mean to dependent variables (economic and education motivation)All multivariate tests indicate that the interaction effect is significant. Both Variables culture and education have a significant effect income variable at 0,05 significant level but not significant on education variables. One of the crucial policy implications of this paper is that we must enhance the government policy on that base on that result. Differences between male and female wages in the same working still exist now. Base on that reality, we must enhance the government policy to protection women's right on the economic activity and the equality in the human right both male and female worker.

Abstract

The aims of this paper is to test Purchasing Power Parity for Indonesian currency to US dollar. The analysis used in this article is the long run equilibrium with cointegrated test approach. The result show that almost all variable in this model are stasionair in the first degree, but both variable s and p not cointegrated for the absolut PPP. The estimated result show that Pj=l hypothesis is not hold during 1974.4 -1998.3 period. In the other hand, cointegrated test for the variable dst and dpt in the relative PPP is cointegrated and the estimation result show that the Relative PPP and the Cochrane-orcutt model PPP is hold for Indonesia, except for the period when Indonesia had fixed exchange rates during 1974.4 -1986.3 period.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence: domestic oil prices, economic growth, and the exchange rate in Indonesia simultaneously dynamically. This research was conducted because previous studies have not linked oil pricefluctuations to the business cycle in Indonesia with dynamic simultaneous analysis. The data used are time series for the period 1970-2019 which are sourced from official publications of the Indonesian government and publications of international institutions (British Petroleum). Domestic Oil Prices and EconomicGrowth in Indonesia are able to explain the business cycle of the Indonesian economy. Domestic Oil Prices and Economic Growth, and the Exchange Rate of the Rupiah against the USD Dollar influence each other in the Indonesian business cycle. Simultaneous equations to see the relationship between variables that influence each other is not enough just with a single equation.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate household credit access and its impact on happiness. We use data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) and employ Ordinary Least Square (OLS) as well as an Ordered Probit approach to test our empirical framework. Our results reveal that per capita expenditure has positively affects the probability of being granted credit, and people in urban communities benefit more from accessing credit than those in rural areas also document that those who successfully obtain credit tend to increase their probability of being happy. We then recommend an improvement in access to credit, particularly for poor people and those who live in rural communities, as an important policy implication. In addition, a better financial capability and financial literacy should be improved continuously to ensure the positive impact of credit on happiness as the ultimate goal in life.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to examine international parity between 5 ASEAN countries to find the possibility of common currency among 5 countries in ASEAN. The interdependence of currencies in ASEAN 5 region towards Dollar creates a suggestion that the common currency should be the solution for ASEAN 5 to reach the stability of the exchange rate. The results of PPP to measure the possibility of a common currency shows that the conditions of the nominal exchange rate and price index in ASEAN 5 are cointegrated. The results of GPPP using the Johansen cointegrated test shows that there are long-term cointegrations of REER variables in ASEAN 5. Although the results of the coefficient β test in Johansen cointegration show that there are some unsimilar coefficient signs between the nations. So, the formation of a common currency in ASEAN 5 can not be fully realized.
