Abstract

Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage Pucang Gading is an orphanage that houses orphaned girls. The environmental health problem at the orphanage is the large amount of garbage that has been piled up for days, causing an unpleasant odor because there are no garbage collectors willing to pick up trash at the orphanage. This is because the location of the orphanage is on the side of the main road towards Pucang Gading. The location of the building is also very close to a river where conditions are steep and against landslides. In addition, there is also no cost that can be allocated to pay a monthly garbage fee. A lot of organic waste, such as fruits and vegetables, is household waste that is generated at this orphanage every day. Based on this background, the PKM team plans to provide skills to the residents of the orphanage to make eco-enzyme. Fruit Peels for Utilization of Organic Waste at the Pucang Gading Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage. The program of activities that will be carried out includes education about the impact of accumulated waste on residents of the orphanage and residents around the orphanage, counseling on how to sort and utilize the waste around them, counseling and training on how to make eco-enzymes by utilizing waste organic matter around them. The results of the training show that there is an increase in the knowledge of the orphanage residents regarding the processing of fruit peel waste into eco-enzymes. Students' knowledge about eco-enzymes increases after socialization, this means that students understand and know how to use eco-enzymes. This is in line with previous research that one's knowledge can increase through listening, seeing, and direct practice.

Abstract

Tegalsari Village, Karanggede Subdistrict, Boyolali Regency, is predominantly inhabited by residents with lower-middle economic status, which affects dietary patterns and nutritional intake, especially among toddlers. Initial data indicated low maternal knowledge about balanced nutrition, minimal participation in posyandu activities, and the absence of community nutrition cadres to provide ongoing education. In response, the Community Service (PKM) team implemented the program “Strengthening Community Nutrition Cadres for Stunting Prevention,” which included education on balanced nutrition and the impacts of stunting, training on preparing balanced menus based on local wisdom, and the formation of competent nutrition cadres. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, with the average post-test score of 80.00 rising from a pre-test score of 59.33. Most participants now fall into the “good” knowledge category, while those with “poor” knowledge decreased to 0%. The established nutrition cadres are able to disseminate information and healthy nutrition practices sustainably, as well as assist families in preparing balanced menus and monitoring child growth. This program is expected to enhance the community’s understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition, encourage healthy eating habits, and promote active participation in stunting prevention. Strengthening the capacity of cadres has the potential to improve program effectiveness holistically, ensuring that stunting prevention can be implemented independently and sustainably at the community level.

Abstract

Backgorund: The dormitories are learning environments inhabited by many female students, making the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) very important to prevent disease and maintain daily comfort. However, in the KH. Sahlan Rosjidi Female Dormitory at Unimus, the level of PHBS implementation is still relatively low. Based on observations and questionnaires conducted with 73 female students, it was found that only 49.3% of respondents had high PHBS behavior, while the other 50.7% were still classified as low. This condition is influenced by factors such as unequal knowledge, age differences, and limited facilities and infrastructure, such as the lack of PHBS posters and adequate sports facilities in the dormitory environment. The purpose: of this study was to determine the relationship between age and knowledge on the implementation of PHBS. Method: This study used a quantitative analytical method with a cross-sectional design. The study population was 270 female students with a sample of 73 respondents selected using accidental sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire, with data analysis using univariate tests and Chi- Square tests. The results: Showed that the majority of respondents were aged 20–21 years (53.4%), had good knowledge (90.4%), and high PHBS (76.7%). The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between age and PHBS (p = 0.000) and knowledge with PHBS (p = 0.026). Conclusion: These results indicate that more mature age and higher knowledge play a positive role in improving PHBS implementation among female students in the dormitory. Efforts to increase knowledge and support infrastructure are important to strengthen sustainable PHBS practices. Keywords: Age, Knowledge,  PHBS, Dormitory, Female Students
