Abstract

Collaboration among teachers is required to make them discuss and share their teaching experiences, including some teaching and learning problems with others. Through collaboration in lesson study, it enables them to prepare meaningful learning to students and learning of 21st century. This activity involving six English teachers of SMK Muhammadiyah Pekalongan aims to improve English teachers in designing their lesson. Through lesson study conducted in one-month, English teachers’ awareness and willingness to collaborate each other showed improvement. They became more acutely aware of the necessity to analyze students' needs when discussing issues related to teaching and learning. Additionally, they might learn something from discussing best practices in teaching through lesson study. This condition affected their ability to compose their lesson design, provide students with relevant learning experiences, and help them develop 4C (critical thinking, creative, collaboration, communication) and HOTS (high order thinking skill) skills.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the portrayal of habitus and symbolic violence in the character of Vic Van Allen in the film Deep Water (2022), directed by Adrian Lyne. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, analyzing the film's narrative and semiotics to identify key scenes, dialogues, and non-verbal expressions that reflect the concepts of habitus and symbolic violence. The findings of this study indicate that Vic Van Allen's habitus is shaped by the accumulation of economic capital and a strong socio-cultural class, making him a calm and manipulative individual with significant control over his environment. This study highlights that symbolic violence, although invisible, has a profoundly destructive impact on victims and can perpetuate power imbalances in interpersonal relationships among the elite. Abstract

The large number of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Malaysia, including undocumented workers, has limited their children’s access to formal education and contributed to cultural identity issues. This community service program aimed to enhance Indonesian language literacy and strengthen national identity through folklore and traditional games. Implemented participatively at Sanggar Belajar AMI Penang, Malaysia, the program included socialization, interactive training, digital media utilization, and mentoring with evaluation. Activities involved storytelling of Candi Prambanan and Malin Kundang, cultural videos, and the traditional game cublak-cublak suweng. Results indicate improved engagement, language skills, and cultural pride among participants. The program demonstrates the effectiveness of culturally based literacy initiatives for Indonesian migrant communities abroad.
