<![CDATA[This study aimed to find out how Hippocrates Ganus’s personalities tendency towards English learning styles based on auditorial, visual, and kinesthetic. This study used a qualitative descriptive method and data was collected through observation, personality test and interview. The observation was performed, involve seven students. The aim of this study was to reveal the personalities of students with English learning styles at SMAN 5 Makassar. Through interviews conducted, it was found that seven students have different personalities, however some students have similar learning styles. Phlegmatic personality has a tendency to like quiet learning but student is not fond of learning approaches that emphasize a lot of physical movement. As well as students with choleric and melancholic personalities who prefer a quite learning environment over engaging in excessive physical activity. Similarly, pupils who possess choleric and melancholy dispositions often choose a tranquil learning environment rather than engaging in physical engagements from a distance. On other hand, student with a sanguine disposition tend to choose a kinesthetic learning method which is very stimulating due to its emphasis on physical activity rather than silent study.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to explore the use of corrective feedback in writing classes for first-year students in the English Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Adopting a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved first-year students as participants, with data collected through observations and interviews. The results showed that the implementation of corrective feedback was effective and positively influenced the writing classes, with participants sharing favorable opinions. The findings indicated that students had a positive perception of their lecturer’s corrective feedback in the writing class.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to analyze the influence of online learning on students' learning styles at SMP Negeri 5 Polewali. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant changes in the world of education, especially through the sudden shift from face-to-face learning to online learning. This study aims to analyze the effect of online learning on students' learning styles at SMP Negeri 5 Polewali. This research used qualitative methods with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research sample involved students of class IX A. The results showed that there are various obstacles in the implementation of online learning, such as limited technology and internet access. However, online learning also affects students' learning styles, which are divided into three main types: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Students with visual learning styles find it easier to understand material through pictures and videos, while auditory students are helped more by verbal explanations. Kinesthetic students have difficulty in online learning due to limited physical activity. This research concludes that learning styles affect the effectiveness of online learning, and teachers need to adapt teaching strategies to suit the needs of each learning style to improve student learning outcomes. This research provides implications for the development of more effective and inclusive online learning strategies in the future.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to find out the advantages and disadvantages of same-language subtitles on YouTube videos. The researcher applies the descriptive qualitative method to achieve the research objective. This research uses interview questions as an instrument of the study. The subject of this research is 6 students from the English Education Department 2019 academic year, Faculty of Languages and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar. The subject was chosen by using purposive sampling. The results of this research revealed that students stated the advantages of same-language subtitles include high accuracy, explaining slang, and clear punctuation. Disadvantages include inaccurate timestamps, typos, and words that are not displayed.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to determine the relationship between the Critical Thinking Skills of Students on Indicators of Concluding and Providing Further Explanation. The population in this study were all students in grade VIII of SMP SMPN 17 Makassar, totaling 290 students and spread across 10 different classes. This research is a descriptive correlative study with a quantitative approach. Sampling was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The sampling technique in this study was to use a saturated sampling technique so the total sample in this study was 290 students. The data were then processed by descriptive statistical analysis with normality test, significance test, mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and coefficient of determination. This study uses the Pearson correlation technique. The results show that there is a very low correlation between critical thinking skills in giving simple explanations and building basic skills categorized as very low with a value of 0.17.]]>

<![CDATA[This study is a pre-experimental research that aims to find out the use of mind mapping to improve students’ writing skills. The participants were the students of VIII-3 MTsN 2 Makassar for the academic year 2021/2022 with as many as twenty-two students. Cluster random sampling was used as the way of selecting the sample and a writing test (descriptive text) was administered as the way of collecting data. The result showed that the score of students’ writing skill tests was improving after conducting mind mapping in the writing class. The mean score of students’ writing tests before and after applying the mind mapping technique improved (53.18 to 75.27). It means that the student’s writing skills can be improved by using mind mapping as a teaching strategy in writing class.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this research was to find out whether using the Wattpad application improves students’ reading comprehension. The researcher applied pre-experimental research which employed one-group pre-test and post-test. The participants of this research were from the VIII-B1 class of UPT SPF SMP Negeri 5 Makassar which consisted of 35 students who were determined using random sampling techniques. The research instrument used was multiple choice reading comprehension: narrative text. The pre-test and post-test results using the Wattpad application in developing students’ reading comprehension after being analyzed using the significant test formula show that the t-test value was 8.043 > t-table value 1.685. As a result, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. After analyzing the n-gain value, the results show that using the Wattpad application is classified as average. In conclusion, using the Wattpad application improves students’ reading comprehension in identifying the main idea, identifying supporting details, understanding vocabulary, identifying references, and making inferences.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to explore students’ perceptions of teacher-made videos during online learning. The researcher applies a descriptive qualitative method to achieve the research objective. The data were collected in the form of interviews. The subjects of the research were 30 students of grade IX SMP Negeri 1 Bulukumba academic 2021/2022. The subjects were chosen by using a simple random technique. Based on the result of the study, students’ perceptions are divided into positive and negative perceptions. The positive perceptions include interesting and motivating, easy to understand, helpful, and improved English skills. The negative perceptions include a lack of interaction, a bad internet connection, and the placement of the camera. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that students’ perceptions are dominated by positive perceptions toward teacher-made videos during online learning. However, there are also negative perceptions stated by students.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the use of short movies in learning vocabulary. The population of this study was students in grade 9 at SMP Negeri 40 Makassar using a purposive sampling technique of 15 students as the sample in this research. This study used descriptive qualitative the researcher used the interview as an instrument. The results of the data show that students have a positive perception of the use of short movies in learning vocabulary. This research is evident from the results of the interviews where they expressed their enthusiasm when watching an English Short Movie. This research also shows the development of students at SMP Negeri 40 Makassar, especially in vocabulary learning.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to determine students' interest in learning English. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data from this study were collected from the results of observation sheets and interviews. The subjects of this study were two English teachers and the interviews were given to 10 second-grade students of MAN 1 Makassar City selected using purposive sampling with the help of the teachers. The results of this study found that most of the students had an interest in learning English, this was evidenced by their positive responses. In conclusion, through the observation checklist, English teachers at MAN 1 Makassar City implemented the teacher relationship-building strategy for students' interests and the results of observations for students also found that most students were interested in learning English when the teacher implemented the strategy and most of the students interviewed also had a positive response about their interest in learning English. Therefore, the strategy of building teacher relationships for the benefit of students is very important and useful in the teaching-learning process, especially in English.]]>
